The Complete Book Of Hair Loss Answers: Your Comprehensive Guide To The Latest And Best Techniques

Rate this book
This book is the most comprehensive and authoritative lay person’s guide to hair loss treatments on the market today. It is written by a board-certified dermatologist and internationally recognized expert with thirty-five years experience and thousands of successful surgeries to his credit. It covers all the most common modern techniques in clear, non-technical language, and uses many drawings and photographs to illustrate hair loss conditions and surgical techniques. It looks at the many myths and misunderstandings around hair loss, and shows which treatments work best for different types of hair loss. It is applicable to men suffering from male pattern baldness, but it also covers hair loss conditions common to women. It contains many real-life photos and stories of actual patients, some in their own words, and debunks the many bogus treatments that have flooded the market recently. It gives readers the scientific background knowledge they require to intelligently select the right medication or surgeon, and also explains hair cloning and other medical advances that may be just over the horizon of current treatment. * Covers all the most recent scientific advances, including cloning and genetic implantation. * Debunks the many bogus and expensive treatments on the market for hair loss. This is THE authoritative work on the subject. * About fifty million American women suffer from hair loss; this book thoroughly covers their problems as well as male pattern baldness.

Quite comprehensive and unlike most other books of its kind talks about both women and men in depth and even about young people including girls who might start to lose their hair from consistent very tight braids/cornrows. The author is a doctor and a surgeon but he also admits this and tries not to be biased. I think he does a good job of presenting a range of causes and remedies in a clear and unbiased way although there is more info about surgery including before and after pictures. The section on how to choose a physician is actually informative.

The book includes sections on an actually interesting history of treatments; cosmetic, surgical, and drug treatments; treatment scams; causes of hair loss with pictures of both men and women; drugs that can cause hair loss and even a chapter on future treatments.

The chapters were well organized and had decent illustrations although I would have liked more about women's hair weaving and extensions. The text was easy to read as was the index.

I got the book from a Free Library, which I read 3 chapters from after having seen a dermatologist. This week I realized I don't need the surgery. Yesterday I took it to my nearest Free Library. ✅
