When seventeen-year-old Jeremy’s girlfriend agrees to do the deed, life can't possibly get better. And then the condom breaks.

He loves Elisa as much as a popular teenage athlete can love a girl, but he doesn't want to be a dad. Her parents want a marriage - his parents want an abortion, and Elisa and Jeremy's once-perfect relationship has been reduced to fights and drama. With a college scholarship on the line and the whole high school mocking him, Jeremy makes a decision that may haunt him forever.

I liked Deadbeat. It definitely isn't my favorite book but it was okay. I give it a 3 out of 5.
Deadbeat is about two 17 year olds who are dating. Elisa and Jeremy are their names. So Jeremy and Elisa have been dating for 8 months...Elisa gets pregnant with Jeremy's baby and her parents want a marriage but his want an abortion. He doesn't want anything, no baby, no marriage. Just a carefree life! After all of this Jeremy starts to question his relationship with Elisa.
I would recommend this book to girls that are 13 years or older. This book has some mature themes and language.

Wow

Ok I almost punched my kindle while reading this book I got so mad at Jeremy he was such a jerk and so insensitive. This book really shows how a lot of teen pregnancies are and it's just really sad. He went from being a deadbeat to a man. He thought having sex was what made him a man but it wasn't it was when he decided to take on his responsibilities. I really liked this book.

Great read

Loved this book but i felt an epilogue in the future or an extra chapter would have been better than such a sudden finish.

Assuming this would be in a female POV, I was surprised to find it was in Jeremy, the 'deadbeat' dad's voice. I loved the romance between Elisa and Jeremy. Until she discovers she's pregnant. I think most females wonder what makes some males feel like they have no resposibility or why they wouldn't want to take resposibility. In Jeremy's point of view, I found myself peeved at him. Yes, he's young, but so is Elisa. But then we see how Jeremy's dad reacts and his solution to the pregnancy. A lot of his actions reflect on Jeremy and one can only imagine how a grown man could create such bitterness in his son.

Elisa is fortunate to have a fairly stable support system. She endured a lot and I imagine it would be lonely without the support of the father.

I was greatly surprised by the way Jeremy reacted toward the end of the story. I only wish there were more to it. I'll leave it at that so I don't throw out any spoilers.

A favorite quote: "Surrounded by the beauty of nature, it feels like we're both nowhere and everywhere at once."

If you're looking for a good read with a different lead, Deadbeat is definitely worth it.

Jeremy is just your typical teenager he has a girlfriend Elisa and a lot off hormones raging trough his body. When Elisa finally says she’s ready, he’s so happy, but something’s goes wrong and the condom breaks.

His parents are pretending nothing’s wrong, Jeremy is not ready to be a dad. Elisa grows up fast leaving Jeremy a mile behind. Elisa’s parents are talking about marriage.

I enjoyed reading this book even though I had some mixed feelings about it. My hubby and I were young parents to I was 19 when the oldest was born. He was a great dad from the start. I can’t image being treated the way Elisa was, why did it take so long for him to man up. I couldn't understand the way his parents behaved total A holes.
Jeremy makes some stupid decisions.

But in the end…… you have the read the book to find out.

First, it's refreshing to see a teen-pregnancy story told from the guy's perspective. That said, I read this book quickly and then spent the next several days trying to figure out how I felt about it to be able to rate/comment on it fairly. For me, the biggest obstacle as a reader was that for most of the story, I didn't find any of the characters likeable or all that sympathetic, and had it not been a fairly short book, I probably would have wound up abandoning it. I stuck with it, though, and found myself feeling better about the main character, and a bit more forgiving of him, by the end. Overall, not a terrible read when taken as a whole, but more sympathy for the character in the beginning would have made for a more satisfying experience for me. As they say, your mileage may vary.

Teenage love

Amazing heartfelt story. Being a teenager in today's world is so much tougher then back in the 1950-2000.

Peer pressure and bullying is so much hard in today's world. Teenager's all fighting to see who's scored an who is still a virgin. Whether your a teenage boy or girl it's all the same.

Using only one type of protection is never enough. Sometimes you find out the hard way. The teens in this book shows exactly why you should wait to have sex or make love depending where you feel are in the stage of your relationship with each other.

Enjoy going through the ups an downs of these high school students. Read the book as see why there are happy times and sad times in the lives of these teenagers.

Happy reading!

My heart was racing from the beginning of this book. There were so many times I wanted to yell at Jeremy. I was so anxious reading it; couldn't put it down.

Jeremy and Elisa are high school sweethearts that got themselves into a "compromising" situation. They struggle to make things work as teens who are soon to be parents. Jeremy makes the mistakes a lot of young dads would make and Elisa is hormonal and trying to hold on to every piece of hope that it will all work out.

An amazing, but short, read!

An interesting book about a teenage pregnancy from the guy's point of view. It was very easy to get caught up in the drama of balancing such a major life change with the trivial day-to-day happenings in high school. I think the emotions involved with such a decision at a critical time when your emotions are bouncing around so drastically was really well done here.

I was so happy for the ending. One of the things that is so bad about teen pregnancy is how the teen boy does not have to do anything. He does not have to make all the tough choices or go through the body and health changes the girl does. I am glad DNA tests are available to help girls now days. I really liked the story and seeing everything from the guys point of view. Interesting!

I was really shocked to find out this was in Jermeys POV, but it was a nice change to see this kind of story in a guy's mind. I admit at times I really wanted to chuck my kindle and yell at Jermey to stop being such a dock but in the end he did the right thing and I am really happy with the ending, but also mad that there was nothing more. Oh well, no need for more.

I enjoyed it!!! I liked the fact that it was told from Jeremy's POV...Instead of Elisa's, Teen pregnancy is such an issue now...it was interesting to gain a different perspective on it coming from the guys point of view...

Honestly I hated Jeremy in the beginning. Yes I know hate is a strong word but dang that boy could make a Nun curse. This story will aggravate you to death but you keep reading because you keep hoping he will stop being a douche. You Hope that everything will turn out right and in the end....

Very great

It was neat to hear the boy's side of the story. It was worth the money. Was kinda short but it was a great book. I read it in 2 hours.
