Heartbreaks, especially the romantic kind, are inevitable in life. Imagination, however, can convert them into the fascinating stuff of lighthearted, even uproariously hilarious literature. This bilingual collection of essays, poems and stories was written by top writers - most of them young- in the country's best universities like U.P., Ateneo, De La Salle, and Siliman.
I wanted desperately to cry. And I realized too late that this was supposed to (mostly) make light of the heartbreaks and lend to it’s ridiculousness
I appreciate that the collection was supposed to bring levity to the ‘sawis’ of the world, but I really wanted to feel that finger-tingling heartache.
I guess, despite age (and wisdom???) my view on romance will always be black and white—off to the sunset they ride or knife through the heart, please.
Nevertheless, I like books like these. After all, we’re never bereft of (un)love stories and “there’s a comfort to knowing that whatever you’re going through has happened to someone else, and that they have the words for it when you don’t”
