It is said that a father loves his daughter beyond measure, so when Glenessa, the much sought after daughter of Laird Swinton, died at the hands of a Kennedy, war was certain to come. Yet the war between the elder lairds was oddly postponed. It was instead handed down to Glenessa’s brother, and the new Kennedy laird.
Over the years, Glenessa was a name rarely spoken, but never forgotten by men on both sides who loved her. It remained, however, a simple question of which spark would finally ignite the flames of war, and more importantly – could the MacGreagors stay out of it?

This review is generic across all Talbott's Viking and Highlander books (so if you look for my review of another in this series you'll just see this).
Talbott has done a superb job of recreating the environment and culture of medieval Scotland and Northern England in these two series. No explicit sex and no gratuitous violence (though there is violence appropriate to the time and place of the novels). Perfect romantic historic fiction with enough swashbuckling tension to appeal to almost anyone. While I am well past adolescence (nearly to senescence), I believe YA readers looking for an entertaining read would like these novels as much as I did.
I cried a little bit for Sawnay and Elspeth. I felt she would die next to him. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved all the characters and loved the storyline so much. Except Ivor, he was the worst of the worst. I was sad Logan died as well. I felt very bad for Alison. But she has Mark. On to the 14th and last one of this series. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜
Oh, how I loved this book, and the entire rest of the series. I know there is one more book in the series after this one, but, for me, this book brings all the stories and the characters together.
I loved the daily banter between Sawney and Elspeth, and I was so glad that she finally got to say what she had been wanting to say to Sawney for all those years.
These are beautiful, well-written stories, and you will find yourself lost within these characters' lives in no time.
Loved the banter between Sawney and Elspeth. -- great humor. Loved their story from beginning to end with a bit of a shocker. Had to go back to A Time of Madness regarding Elspeth. The main story was equally intriguing with a few unexpected twists and turns. You'll love this one too!
