A professor's murder at a small New England college and a forgotten manuscript lead recently retired school teacher, Richard MacKenzie, and his wife, Morgana, through a labyrinth of secrets, deceptions, and murder. Will revelations about Morgana's past hinder the ongoing investigation about the professor's death, and damage her marriage? Will Richard be able to save his brother's job? Will the killer be found before he strikes again? Everything depends on Richard. Who said retirement is like a walk in the park?
"Jack" Flanagan is a retired high school teacher from Long Island, New York. His childhood memories of his family trips through New England and his visits to his uncle, the chief of police of Bennington, Vermont served as inspiration for his second novel, THE THIRD MURDERER. Now an empty nester, Jack lives with his 'Morgana', his beautiful and supportive wife, and is working on another MacKenzie adventure.
What can I say, this is the first book that I have published, and it was an experience. Mastering typing, working a computer (including its various nuances), formatting, and meeting the challenges of indie publishing in general, I have developed a true appreciation of what goes into a book. All that said, if you want a light read or like mysteries, I recommend The Third Murderer. I hope that you enjoy the book as much as I did writing it. And if you do, a sequel is in the works.
Verb tense was often wrong, book needs a good spellcheck, proofread and edit. Hard to follow in places due to bad grammar, incorrect word use and missing punctuation. Plot and story telling was good. The book lacks the final step to make it polished and professional.
Good plot, mysterious twists and turns that in turn keep you turning pages. There's plenty of clean humour and lighthearted insights into small town politics. The novel is, however, in dire need of editing. All in all, it's a good start for a new author.
