"I don't like you, Simon. You're rude, entitled, selfish, and arrogant."
When Sofia MacDonald flung those words at me, it sent me on a spiral of self-reflection. Surely this can't be how I'm perceived?
Admitting my faults, taking accountability, and apologizing is not in my vocabulary. But if I want a shot with the delectable Sofia, I need to atone for my behavior - especially when the sins of my youth come knocking. Sins that Sofia had a front-row seat for.
Sofia MacDonald
"I didn't care how hot he was; he was a f**k boy through and through."
Simon Dawson lived in his own world. He was arrogant, a careless womanizer, and oblivious to everyone's feelings but his own.
No way in hell would I be added to his long list of conquests. Even if he was starting to confuse me by doing things that contradicted his egotistical persona.
Had he really changed? And why was I suddenly tempted to give in to our years-long sensual tension?
**Simon and Sofia appear in Barron's Second Chance. While it's recommended to read Barron's Second Chance, it isn't necessary in order to follow Simon Says. This is an enemies-to-lovers romance with spicy bedroom scenes. No Cheating. HEA guaranteed.**
Safe: - Both with others after meeting - After the start of the present time he fucked ow and she om - We have a descriptive scene of the end of a blow job with the ow and than he fucks her (no descriptions). Then he took her to his cousin engagement party and went home with her to fuck her again even after causing trouble at the party. After that he is not with anyone else - After the weekend of the party the heroine met her fuck buddy one time, slept with him one night and was not with anyone else after that - Tons of details about his sex life with ow. They had sex marathons, how good she is at giving head, their sex being hot and he fucked her six ways from sunday in the puzzy, ass, mouth and between her breats.
He downplayed what he and the ow had to the heroine and she believed him. In my opinion it was to appease her by making himself less of an asshole. In my perscective, a reader, who read the true story, it only served to show him as a bigger one.
The H has been casually fucking ow (Maria) since she was 17 and he was 18. It has been ten years, but there was a gap between those years while he was at college. The h has had casual relationships and she now has a fuck buddy (Brian)
I hated that while the h has a fuck buddy, she is not with him basically since the start of the story. In the present time Simon fucks Maria on the weekend of Eden and Barron's engagement party and he even take her to the party. The day after the event Maria finds out he also hooked up with her best friend, the girl Barron cheated on Eden's with and Sofie heard their argument because they (h and ow) are neighboors. The ow kicked him out and the h ended up helping him during the weekend. What pissed me off is that even while he is being super nasty and has been fucking the ow literally hours before the h keeps thinking about his looks and hot he is. Even while she was on her date with the om she kept thinking about Simon. However Simon had no problems fucking Maria at the same building that Sofia lives without thinking about her.
Also, Simon ruined her date with the om after the ow kicked him out (he did not had the intention to truly ruin it, he was drunk and she decided to help him, but the end result is the same, it was ruined bc of him), he left town and has been gone and celibate for two months since. What I hate is that after the weekend he fucked ow, disrepect his cousin by bringing her to the party as his plus one and also was an asshole to sofia he somehow also ruined sofia sex life and she has been with the om only once soon after the weekend but was not happy after the sex and was not with him or anyone else after that. Cmonnnn why the fuck cant the heroine enjoy her fuck buddy?? Why the hero has to affect her so much even before he become at least a little decent. The author advertised it as ghe heroine having a fwb relationship but she barely even sees him and the details are a few.
She spent months seeing him at ow apartament staying there every time he was in town. What is the point of her having a fuck buddy if she isn't fucking him??? The H had no qualms about being with Maria even knowing she was attached to him and even after bringing her to the party, he went home and fucked her again but the heroine is unable to enjoy her sex life for months!!!
I expect the H to be the celibate one because he needs a little bleach, not the heroine.
Also, of course we had tons of details about hot hot the sex between Simon and Maria is but none about Brian. We only know he is good in bed
Maria and Brian will be a couple so Brian not being with Sofia is nice for their book but for this one the author could have given her an fuck buddy she actually fucks. Before the book started even thought they lived in the same town it has been 3 weeks since they have seen each other. The author treated them as two people scrathing an itch when the need arise, like a sexual relief. While Simon was fucking Maria any chance he got when staying in town and not only that, he also made the 40 minutes travel only yo be with her.
This is inconsistent and made him a liar to me. Sofia heard Simon and Maria argument and it looks like he played her the whole time. Later while explaining himself Simon tells her it was very casual and he only ever was with her when he needed to be in town and not every time This is a lie, before that he thinks that she had a basket at her bathroom for his things and he got scared when he saw it two months ago but then she sent him a nude picture and he was unable to resist and drove the whole way only to be with her. Also, they had an agreement to be together whenever he was in town visiting family.
The many details about how great his sex life with Maria was made me doubt if things were even that good with Sofia. While before him she was scrathing an itch he was having marathons and being unable to resist the ow. Even with Brian it took a while for them to figure out a rhythm.
The details about the h and the om: - I had considered inviting Brian, the guy I slept with on occasion when we both felt the itch - This was our routine whenever we met up. A drink at Malley's before driving to my apartment for a night of sexual release. -Once I figured out that I loved to get real down and dirty, I gravitated towards partners that met my needs. Take Brian, for example. One wouldn't think by looking at his Walmart shirts that he would be a freak between the sheets. But he was the first person who encouraged me to play with his prostate. He knew what he was doing in bed. It was one of the reasons I decided to keep sleeping with him. Usually, it took a few dates before I could figure out a comfortable rhythm with guys. No such thing with Simon. -I did genuinely like Brian and enjoyed his company. He was handsome, and we always had things to talk about. He was also good in bed - always taking care of my needs before his own. But beyond that, we didn't have any extra chemistry. - I felt a pool of desire low in my belly as I sat down, anticipating the night of carnal pleasure ahead. It hadn't been that long since we had slept together – about three weeks. I loved sex but wasn't the type to sleep with a new man every week. I preferred being in a relationship, but if I couldn't have that, I settled for what Brian and I had - a casual bed buddy when the mood struck (after that she is thinking about Simon's body, one part in particular) - "Brian and I have an understanding." One I hadn't indulged in in a while. After the incident in Malley's, I did meet up with Brian again. We followed our routine of drinks before heading back to mine in separate cars. But even though I had enjoyed the sex, the aftermath of our encounter left me feeling cold. I was pissed off at Simon for that one because I literally felt like he had cursed my sex life after their little altercation. I had spoken with Brian since but made no firm plans to meet up with him again.
H AND OW DETAILS
- I took my phone out and brought up Maria's text thread. Simon: Get that pussy nice and wet for me. Be there soon.
Scene with him and the ow - I groaned as Maria lifted her wet mouth from my shrinking erection. She smiled adoringly at me as she wiped the corner of her mouth from where her salvia and some of my come had dripped. I picked up my bag, which I had dropped to the floor as soon as I walked in Maria's door and spotted her naked and waiting. Without thinking, I had unbuttoned my jeans and roughly guided her willing mouth onto my dick. One thing was for sure; Maria gave good head. (...)"And speaking of coming," Maria purred as she sat on her couch and spread her legs, showing off her wet pussy. I felt my dick twitch in response as I cast my bag aside again. "Keep them spread," I demanded. As I stalked forward to a moaning Maria, all thoughts of my error disappeared. (His error: inviting her to the party)
- "I first hooked up with her when she was seventeen, yes. That time when Eden went away for summer and, you know." I nodded, not wanting to rehash the past. After that, I went away to New York for college. If I came home, it was to Helensville to see Mom and Dad. Barron had gone off to college by then, too, and we kind of drifted apart. So, yes, I was eighteen when I first hooked up with Maria. But I didn't reconnect with her again until I had moved back to Helensville, and I started coming back to New Haven for family gatherings. More often than not, Barr, my aunt, and my uncle would come to Helensville. Maria and I would only hook up when I was in town and not on every visit." Lier
The inconsistency: (quotes and comments - I knew it was an asshole move to use her place to crash - and for some hot sex - - I had started staying over at Maria's a lot lately. A change in habit that was obviously giving her ideas. -Maria and I had an understanding. Whenever I was in New Haven visiting family, we would hook up. - We had an agreement to have sex whenever I was in town, but no words were spoken by me that I felt anything more for her than a convenient - and very good - fuck. -Admittedly, the basket should've been a huge red flag. I was sure that was the end of our prolonged fling. But Maria was not deterred. She relentlessly bombarded me with an album full of nudes, each picture more graphic than the last. I had remained unfazed until she sent a pic of a vibrator up her wet pussy...and a smaller dildo buried in her ass. She also had one large breast lifted into her mouth, her pink tongue frozen mid-lick on the erect nipple, and her eyes closed in bliss. That photo finally broke me and made me drive the forty minutes to New Haven, where I fucked Maria six ways from Sunday. In the pussy, ass, mouth, and definitely between those plump tits.
- "No, the reason I insisted on staying with Maria had little to do with wanting my own space but more to do with a certain sexy as fuck woman who I discovered lived on the same floor as Maria Really? He is full of bullshit, lingered on the hall to see sofia, dropped his pants as soon as maria oppened the door and fucked her after thinking thar
I love a good reformed playboy MMC and this book certainly delivered! I liked that the MCs took their time and developed a good rapport before jumping into bed. Simon became more redeemable than I expected, but similar to Barron's Second Chance, it took some time for him to get there and realize the ways that he hurt people.
This was my first ARC experience and I absolutely consumed this book the second I received it and finished it a couple hours later. :) Shout-out to the author for having a POC FMC. <3
I would first like to say thank you for the ARC ❤️.
No overreacting I DEVOURED this book, and I don’t think I’m getting over Sophia and Simon for a very long time. Simon was a character albeit I disliked in Barrons Second Chance I wanted to still hear his side and was really hoping to see a redemption ARC without spoiling the book I was left very satisfied. I’m new to this author but knew quickly that her work would be a favourite of mine, as much as I loved her last book I can see there has been improvement in pacing and writing with this one. As someone who is neurodivergent I find it extremely difficult to sit down and read books for long stretches of time but had no problem reading this in hours. The romance was angsty and I was kept on my toes for most of the book, the heroine was outspoken and never shied away from disagreements but she was still warm and fair, the hero was cocky but definitely humbled by the end of the book and I loved his growth, I loved how the friendship group grew closer and I loved how two people who would barely speak to eachother at the start became lovers, friends and support systems. I love seeing Baron and Eden again in love and in a better place. Another 5 star read from an author who is quickly becoming one of my go tos I’m just sad I finished this so quickly
I love this author’s works! She writes the best redemption stories about her heroes that are extremely engaging/hard to put down. This one was no exception! I was excited to read Simon’s story ever since I read Barron’s.
This is Simon’s redemption story. When the story begins, he has hit a very low point in his life and is hit with some harsh moments of self reflection. Everyone hates him because he only cares about himself. Feeling guilty, he decides to change his life starting with the girl who he has always been infatuated with. I LOVED Sofia’s (heroine) character: she was strong and knew how to stand up for herself but she also knew how to forgive when necessary. I think it’s best to read Barron’s story first, but may be read as a stand alone. On that note, I also loved reading the update on Barron and Eden’s love story! I truly could not put it down and really wanted Simon to shape up and get his hea too! And when they finally get together, the chemistry is 🥵 🔥 ! Thank you for the ARC and I look forward to many stories in the future!!
Safety: H is a playboy- so there are alot of graphic references to his past. Same with the heroine. But there is NO cheating that happens between them!
I was so excited when I found out Sofia was getting her own book. It was worth the wait. I love Sofia and Simon! I didn’t always like Simon because of his shady encouragement for Barron to step out on Eden when they were teenagers but we get a deeper look into who he really is. Sure he was conceited, arrogant and flashy but he was sweet, thoughtful and when him and Sofia finally got along he became a great boyfriend and a loving partner. He showed a different side to himself and it was easy for Sofia to fall in love with him. 🥰 also, the epilogues!?!? ugh love!
I’m gonna be totally honest, I saw who is getting a book next and I’ll most likely skip it because I don’t like the FMC 😂
I had a great time reading this book! I laughed aloud and adored Sofia’s inner dialogue. She was hilarious.
Simon was also a great character, very genuine and with great development. Having updates of Eden and Barron was also cool and the best thing… the sneak peek!
Well hot damn this was hot. Simon and Sofia have great physical chemistry. 🥵 And no third act breakup - can I get a hallelujah?? 🙌🏼
This was far less drama filled than I anticipated, which I found a relief. Sometimes you just want to bask in a cute, enemies to lovers without all conflict.
I could not put this book down. I inhaled this book in one day. And I’m telling you, I read it in less than 12 hours.
I love a ‘reformed play boy’, ‘forced proximity’, and some sexy romance books, and this book delivered on what I was asking for. What I loved also, is how the author managed to write a book with these tropes, in a shorter book. Normally when I come across these tropes, they’re in a longer book - about 400 pages. But the fact that she managed to write an easy, shorter read, with some fantastic tropes really ticked so many of my boxes.
I also loved how despite the insta-lust and fast pace of the book, Simon and Sofia hold off on completely having sex until they completely commit. If anything that added to the spice factor even more - I love good Sexual angst.
When it comes to the spice of the book, trust me this book delivers. Personally, I’d give this book a 2.5/5 in spice, as whilst it covers a lot of kinks and dirty talk, it doesn’t quite go into as much detail as Previous books that I have Rated as 3/5. So, I think this book would be a good read for someone who is starting to go further into the ‘spicy bookstagram‘ library. It’s a lot spicer than books that I personally would classify as NA and YA books. But, It doesn’t include the complete descriptive qualities, that other, more sexually heavy books. Don’t take this as me saying that there is only little spice in it; there is alot of spice mentioned - anal, penetrative, alongside Kinks etc. So, for someone who does not like spicy reads, I would say that this isn’t the book for you. However, for those of you that do love your spice - I read a lot of spice, and this is more on the tamer side of what I have previously read.
Simon sucks plain and simple. He did not deserve Sofie. This is angsty for the sake of being angsty, so if you enjoy that, this is for you.
This book flows best, if your read the prior. Essentially in this book Simon admits he blew up Barron’s relationship on purpose because he wanted to get laid and needed a wingman. 😒
The book starts with a detailed sex scene with OW. Then H takes this hostile other woman to Barron and Eden’s engagement (H and h from prior book). She’s rude AF. The OW is also besties with the OW Barron cheated with and essentially sends this besties dates about their engagement throughout. He didn’t even consider it might be in poor taste to bring this OW. 🤦♀️. Barron makes H his best man because he has no other option I guess.
ANYWAYS, this whole story starts off when H gets kicked out of OW’s apartment. She realizes he slept with her BFF (same BFF who he made his cousin cheat with years ago). She knew they had a situationship when he was in town but this is her wake up call and she gives him the boot. OW is neighbors with h, so she takes him in cause he’s naked and afraid lol. He thanks her by insulting her, so she dumps him at his cousins house, and he insults them too.
He ends up drunkenly ruining her date with OM, so she doesn’t get a chance to hook up with him (they’re just casual). H offers her his community dick as consolation, is shocked when she passes.
This weekend ends up being his little wake up call and he decides to be a better person. Tries to earn his place in h’s life throughout the wedding planning.
On page scenes with OW/OM. There is no explicit cheating between the MCs. They don’t sleep with other people after getting together. Spice 🌶️

I agree with other reviews about there being too much regarding Simon and Maria (ow) and too little of Sofia and Brian (om). While I know a lot of this was to show Simon’s character growth and awareness, it actually turned me off the beginning of the book and I found myself skimming up until the drunken bar scene.
I liked the rest of the book much more. The relationship healing between Simon and Barron was nice, even if I thought Barron needed to grovel a little more for that situation. Simon reaching out to his neighbor also showed how he had lost some of his callous nature and self-centered attitude.
While the relationship between Simon and Sofia had me happy with the ending, I felt a lot of the actual relationship portion was glossed over with texting/FaceTime/phone calls and very little interaction after the bachelor/bachelorette gatherings. It made them seem a little muted emotionally even if the sex scenes were hot. I guess I just wanted to feel their connection more than just being told it was there.
I waited a couple of weeks to write the review because I wanted to write about what I recalled rather than rising emotions just after reading. Overall, I don’t remember truly hating any part of it, but I do feel like I loved the first book much more.

Same author, same circle of friends, and just as engaging a read. This story focuses on Baron and Eden’s best friends—Simon and Sofia. I was especially hoping Sofia would get her own story, because she’s half Samoan, full of sass, witty, feisty, funny, and full of personality. She easily steals the scenes she’s in, and I found myself wanting more of her perspective throughout the book.
Being Polynesian myself, I felt the author captured Sofia’s personality perfectly. Faith, family, and food are deeply rooted in our culture, and seeing those elements reflected so naturally in her character made the story feel authentic and meaningful.
Simon starts off as a completely selfish, arrogant jerk, using anyone in his vicinity regardless of the outcome. The author brilliantly lays his flaws bare, then gradually draws the reader into his redemption—both his reckoning with himself and his attempts to make amends with the people he hurt along the way. I also found his changed personality, as he grows for the better, adorably complicated and deeply relatable.
I absolutely loved Sofia and Simon’s story. It was entertaining and kept me riveted to the page, with their sassy banter and saucy intimacy heating things up. Their chemistry felt electric—so much so that I connected with them even more than I did with Baron and Eden. Totally a recommendable read👍
thank you thank you thank you for the arc! so! i’ve been waiting for this book for a hot minute ever since i read barron and eden’s book. Ive been reading the early chapters released on wattpad because i was so excited for this book. i had high hopes, and i’m happy to tell you i was not disappointed! Sofia was a take no shit-curvy-POC-absolute baddie of a FMC. We all loved a reformed fuckboy i think?? Well Simon really did a whole 180 and to see him see the error of his shitty ways was fun to see. Sofia and Simon were about as opposite as you can get and after she calls him on his shit (LOVED that btw) he turns his life around and starts to bury his way into her life. I love a good grovel, but this was different, i liked to see an actual personality turnaround throughout the whole book. Loved it start to finish. Loved the continued peaks of Eden and Barton’s story as well. This author has hit every time so far and i’m excited to see her writing journey. Hopefully we’ll see another good ole grovel book from her again cause GOT DAMN she has that down😂 also HOLY SHIT THE SPICE WAS SPICING!!!
So confused, i seriously didn't understand what Sofia seen in him.
He came across as an Insta fudge boy at the start and an insta fudge boy at the end.
"I got the best version of him."
Exceptionalism isn't cute or loving its actually a redflag.
Natural beauty also isn't a description and is as generic a feeling a person can have for another.
Simon is still so egotistical at the end, its just the type of ego you have been trained to accept.
Ladies, remember, single mothers are happier than married mothers and its because culture needs to do better and expect better than controlling exceptionalism from its men.
Nothing like the whirlwind tripe that men never have to do more than experience a moment.
Wow, how brave.
Why not demand consistency first?
Having purity tests then jumping into bed with him before hes proven himself is just settling
Also, that apology to Maria was such a YouTube apology.
I read this through out of loyalty to the author tho I gagged a couple of times, esp. during the sex scenes. I so wanted to DNF a couple of times.
There were a lot of things about Simon that threw me off, like how much of an asshole he was/is but only after a single night where 2 people showed him anger, he seamlessly transformed to "good Simon," I dont like how arrogant and cocky he is, how vain. (I haaaate vain heroes). Sofia is a bit more fleshed out.
The "dirty sex" is a turn off. Its like giving Simon the opportunity to be his asshole self while still being. a "good guy." The scenes sounds like some very bad porno from porntube (including the over the top screaming and groaning).
Also, sapasui is NOT a version and not similar to chop suey, even if they sound alike. the samoan dish is closer to the filipino dish pancit, particularly pansit bihon which is made with vermicelli noodles. Chop suey is cooked entirely with vegetables, with no noodles in sight.
I was really into the first 50% ish of this book—S.T. Moors has a knack for writing down-bad men, and I’m here for it.
Unfortunately, I kinda lost interest after they got to the hooking-up part. I don’t know, it just felt weird to me, and then there were a lot of time jumps that made the development between Simon and Sofia seem like it just… stopped. After that point in the book, all we got was smut for a handful of chapters straight, and it really didn’t help that the smut was very poorly written and gave me the ick.
Like, in what world do you want to read these sentences when reading smut: "I moaned like a cheap hooker", "he stared at my flapping tits", "watched my come bubble around her asshole"? And the dirty talk? Yeah, that was just not it—it didn’t feel organic, if that makes sense.
So yeah, this started out really strong for me but fell flat in the end. I just skimmed the last couple of chapters so I could be done with it
I think the great winner was Maria the OW, because she had the H that cannot keep his hands of her for 10 years and the OM that fell for her while the poor heroine was just only one of the faceless women he have sex. And the winner is the slutty OW. Right, the excuse that he gave to visiting always the OW is to see the heroine, and what about the 10 years that he was with her? Like another reader said, once the OW opened the door and didn't saw anyone more only the OW that even a blind knew he is so MAD in lust with that he cannot keep his hands of her all the time and in all the positions. And he easily can keep his hands of the heroine. The only reason they broke up, it was the OW that did and he got drunk afterwards and was rude to the heroine 'that was his lame excuse to go to the OW flat'. Also is very annoying like the reader point out that when he has sex with the OW he only think of her how he is mad about her when the heroine is always thinking about him.
I personally would give this 2.5 stars, but since I can't, it will get a three. It was an easy read, but I wish more would have happened. Now, don't get me wrong, I do love me a book with spicy scenes...but not when it's the majority of the storyline. I wish Simon did a bit more to show how much he's changed and Sofia did more to resist his charm. It felt as if things happened so quickly and without much ~angst~ of getting there.
Nonetheless, the storyline and plot was there. It just honestly fell a bit short. If you are a fan of Barron's Second Chance and debating if you should read this book, I say still read it. You get little glimpses of Barron and Eden's comments on what happened, and it was nice to see their growth as well.
I've never been more thoroughly icked out by the steamy scenes in a book. This did not have to be THAT graphic - it contributed nothing to the story at all! I didn't care for them and skipped them all.
The hero, Simon, also had a 180-degree transformation after the first third for no apparent reason. His character development was flimsy at best and lazy at worst. New Simon came across one-dimensional and I must say, I think I might prefer Old Simon a little better...and he was a whole misogynist.
I just finish this book, and this is my impresión: i love it!!! Simón is so cute, so funny that i fell in love instantly. Cmon! The episode when Maria kick him out of her apartment and he gets drunk…. I l could help my self and fall for him !!! Highly recommended: the history is cute, is funny is hot, and very realistic in a good way… i think this writer have only written 2 books… please keep writing!!! I’m looking forward to reading the next history of this series!!!!!
I never write reviews, but in the hope that the author reads this… Thank you for your writing. This is the first book I’ve read with a Samoan FMC (if this was mentioned in the previous book… idk how but I hundred percent missed it), and it’s something I didn’t know I was missing from my other reads. My eyes are open… I’ll be following your writing and searching for other poly authors. Five stars only for the joy I felt when I read that Sof was Samoan and the bits I found relatable.
This was a truly lovely story- gave me the warm and fuzzies. I enjoyed the character arc and growth of Simon and Sofia is an enjoyable bundle of sass and strength.
I didn’t know I needed a straightforward love story with little to no angst until I got it. The spice level was fun and hawt! Overall great read.
This author continues to torture her readers with the most relentlessly unsexy smut. Oh my god, it's dire. Maybe a man wrote it? Maybe it's a social experiment? I don't know how to explain her choices, I just know I have the ick.
I liked it. Simon's redemption was slow going but people generally don't change overnight. I loved Sofia immensely in the first book and liked her even better here
