Matsuri Hino was born on January 24 in Hokkaido. She was a bookshop keeper who one day decided to become a manga artist, and all of nine months later, in 1995, she published her first manga title, Kono Yume ga Sametara (When This Dream Is Over), in Japan's LaLa DX magazine.
This is one of my favorite mangas. I find the artwork to be beautiful. The storyline and romance was cute to me. Now with that being said, this manga may not be for everyone. The romance is highly questionable due to the ages depicted by the H/h. However as a long time anime/manga fan I am used to the outrageous, eyebrow raising silliness, etc. storylines that Japanese anime and mangas have. So you have been warned! My real life morality and fiction life morality have always been separate.
There are only 4 volumes to this series and its not very heavy on the drama/angst. It is a fantasy, and comedic romance. I wish it was longer because I think we could have delved into the past of some of the side characters. It could seem a little weird that the H is actually gasp…. 6 years younger than the h. The h is 15 so you do the math. But like I said this is fantasy so I went with the flow. All the male characters are extremely hot – total bishounens so even if the story seems lacking the artwork makes up for it.
This manga is by the same creator of Vampire Knight which I think is 19 (?) volumes long? I was going to buy that manga box set but I spoiled myself and also heard some consensus that most people were not happy with the storyline after a certain volume and the ending. My point with that manga and Merupuri is that if I had to choose a longer manga series where the story and ending becomes disappointing to me VS. a shorter series that kind of leaves you wanting more then I’d rather choose the shorter series. So yes, I am satisfied and love with Meru Puri manga and this is in my keeper shelf.
