Jack Brighton is a British author who specialises in gay erotica with a BDSM slant. His books are widely available on all major e-book and specialist erotica sites, published by his company – Firm Hand Books.
Jack was born and raised in the west of Scotland then moved to the south of England after graduating from university, living first in London before moving to the sanity of Brighton.
Having forsaken the stress of working in London’s finance sector to become a full time author, Jack now spends much of his time on the small Mediterranean island of Gozo where he lives with his partner.
Jack also writes under the pen names:

Fergie Boy
Jack’s early erotica works were produced for a web site called Gay Boy Books, where he wrote under the name Fergie Boy. Subsequently this material was brought under the Firm Hand Books banner and is now available through the same channels as Jack’s later work. The stories are highly erotic but not specifically BDSM in nature – although in certain books like ‘Preparing the Way’ and ‘Spanked at Last’ the evolution into Jack Brighton can be seen. Fans of Jack’s work might find it interesting to see where he has his literary roots by checking out some of the Fergie Boy books.
Jack no longer writes under the Fergie Boy name. However, he does write under...

Tom Farrell
Having published over twenty books by mid 2011, and created a strong niche in the gay BDSM market, Jack decided to expand his reach once again. Not wishing to dilute the Jack Brighton body of work and perhaps confuse his loyal readers, or re-invoke Fergie Boy, a new pen name was created to write under. This was Tom Farrell.
Under the banner 'Flaming Hot', Tom Farrell's books fall into two categories: 'Flaming Hot Gay Erotica' and 'Flaming Hot Gay BDSM'. The distinction is hopefully very clear. Both collections are softer than Jack Brighton's normal work - the 'Erotica' collection much more so. But it is still Jack Brighton - his ideas and his style. So if you like Jack's books then why not check some of Tom Farrell's work out.

A romp at Boot Camp.

The candidates are going through the selection process for training to be put up for auction. A week of challenges for all as the ranks get whittled down. Rick is an American porn star looking for a fresh start. The Masters are looking for something unscripted.

Pretty much inside Rick's head as he tries to game the process and keeps falling short. Emotional, but all the porny stuffing fun you'd expect from a Brighton read. Entertaining with a touch of care.

★★★☆☆

Meh. You don't read Jack Brighton books for reality. No condoms are ever mentioned, multiple partners abound and it's basically reading porn. Which I have nothing against since The Wild Side of Christmas by Jack Brighton and The Wild Side of Paddy McGuire (Tales from the Wild Side) by Jack Brighton are naughty rereads, however in this rendition, Angus and Paddy only make token appearances and it suffers because of that. Or I just really like Paddy and Angus. Marco, Sven and Dylan appear as well.

Analytical Rick has been selected to endure a one-week boot camp style testing to see if he is able to proceed to a 6-month slave training and eventually be put up for auction. I actually had to force myself to finish this because I was reading for the BDSM Taboo Twister challenge

I read this book as part of the BDSM taboo twister challenge. I have to say, it was a little tame and not a lot of kinky sex that I was expecting.
I was getting a little anxious as I had to wait until nearly the end before the water sports came into it, and even that was tame.
This is a 3 star read for me. I thought I had found a new series but I am not sure I will be continuing with it.

There are criteria that determine whether a novel can be called romance: a central love story and an emotionally-satisfying year and optimistic ending. Often the characters are caricatures. The main female character is often hopeless of ever finding the man of her life. And that's when she meets Prince Charming. And they live happily ever after.
Why do I speak of romance in this review of a Jack Brighton’s novel? Good question.
If members of the GR Romance Group know what to expect on the genre to which they are related, what about novels read by the Depraved Mind Club? One thing is certain is that the Brighton’s novels would certainly meet the criteria of this literary category.
Criteria for naughty novels:
One could say that the characters are often caricatures too. But here, the Alpha males (or Doms) are always bigger, beefier and have bigger dicks than the subs, except for rare exceptions (if there is a huge black guy, he will certainly have a bigger cock than everybody else). The Doms must have self-confidence that sweats from every pore of their skin. The Alpha of all alphas or the Dom all doms must have an almost supernatural faculty to fuck passionately and nearly forever or at least several hours. In the case of a novel with elements D/s and BDSM, the Dom at the top of the pecking order is always nastier than all the others, but he knows how to be fair with all his subordinates, who are dedicated and totally loyal to him.
We can say that Brighton's novels and short stories meet all these criteria. Angus McCloud, Dom of all doms, fits perfectly in the above mould. As such, even his # 1 slave (Paddy McGuire) is superiorly equipped (big guy with a big cock) and is somewhat dominant too. Everyone in Brighton’s novels fucks a great deal and joyfully with each other, and often several at the same time.
While I'm usually allergic to clichés and too many sex scenes, tell me why I always enjoy reading novels by this author? Perhaps it is because his stories are D/s fantasies that correspond enough to mine to press the right buttons and trigger a too obvious reaction that has to be relieved. ;)
Those who are "members" of the Wild Side Club will certainly enjoy this novel. Angus and Paddy make a cameo appearance at the beginning of the story and Angus at the end too. And we cannot but feel concerned by what happens to Rick, MC but ugly duckling of this story, who has only his nice ass and his intense desire to find a Master and a family to go through the Boot Camp Week.

Brighton uses a scene that I have already read in Road to Bondage . But as I loved this scene, it does not bother me that he reuses it.
Other scenes are really funny, But then, I felt bad for Rick almost all the time. Even if the ending is far from being unpredictable, I found myself crying with Rick at the end.
There are some rare mistakes (eg Rink rather than Rick), but not enough to make reading difficult.
Overall, this is a good read for the naughty readers like me.

This was not a slap and tickle bdsm story. There was more story line and character building than sex not that there isn't sex scenes because there are just with good story to back them up.

If you're looking for hardcore kinky bdsm this isn't the book you want. This one just touches bases with little depth. Others in the series might be more in depth but I'll have to see then.
