Mais cette fin... comment dire... no effing way!

one of my favorite sub-genres, books that ask: what if a marriage were happy?

Depressing but accurate depiction of a ballerina past her prime, and her desperate attempts to recapture past success and glory both on the stage and in her personal life. The Austrian born author is better known for a book that inspired the movie, Grand Hotel.

I liked the book, for me comparable with "Theatre" from Somerset Maugham. A Ballerina whose best days are over, not recognizing that the best thing in Life is what she has. With her manners she loses everything she had, standing alone in the end, to old to dance.
