after getting past the GLARING grammatical errors, the occasional misspellings, weird sentence structures, questionable word choices (with the incorrect grammar, the sophisticated word choices came across as pretentious), cringe worthy dialogues, i find that the idea that the author is going for is very sophisticated. i really like the noir-esque feeling that you get when you read the stories (the book is an anthology). the only problem i hv w the stories is that THERE ARE TOO MUCH ALCOHOL i swear just by reading this book i had alcohol poisoning atleast thrice. there were all types of booze; beer, stout, red wine, vodka, champagne. the characters would start their day w beer, hv wine w their lunch, & hv shots of vodka & glasses of champagne for dinner. idk bout alcoholic drinks that much but damn thats alot of booze in a day 🥴 all in all, a great read from a local author. only thing that i would say is, local publishing houses should really pay meticulous attention to the language (grammar wise especially) as we dont want the mass to read materials which might show our incompetence towards the language ✌🏻

Dull in design, great in story-telling. Booze, friendship, Booby Chino, band tour and bastards with women and lust. Love the shelver story, and Beth. I like Beth.

My favorite : The Overnight Train, Video Games & Hamburgers, Five Thieving Bastards, Shelf Life and The Road Tour. Somehow very captivating despite Angus' character of which not really to my type but to his stories, I give the thumbs up. Live well, Angus.

Angus is unique character. He’s wild and kind at the same time. Shelf life shows his true self.

Sebenarnya, secara jujur aku rasakan, membaca antologi ini mirip mengulang baca salah satu daripada kisah Henry Chinaski berjudul Women, tulisan Charles Bukowski.  

Antalogi penulis ini aku akui menghiburkan namun bayangan Bukowski yang agak dominan seakan mengaburi identiti sebenar penulis walau cubaan mahu mewujudkan perbezaan Angus dan Chinaski melalui kecenderungan seksual di mana meletakkan Angus sebagai seorang biseksual hampir tidak membantu.

Aku cuma mahu perihal Bobby Chino dilanjutkan menjadi sebuah novel kerana ia membuatkan aku merasa lebih senang menggelar antologi ini dengan panggilan Bobby Chino, bukan sepertimana judulnya iaitu Five Thieving Bastards.

I really enjoyed it and finished reading this in less than 4 hours! Yeay!

Some characters from the author's previous works appear in most of the short stories, so I recommend u read his earlier Works in order to really appreciate this one.
