Recruited: Part Two of The Outlier Chronicles

Rate this book
The annual Sector Exposition is fast approaching and apprehension holds heavy in the air at East Valley. While the senior class readies for their recruitment day, Tessa is grateful for one more year of her high school routine.

But with the Hub in control, nothing is secure.

Family ties are tested and new alliances are made. The Sector recruitments cast a wide divide between Tessa and her friends. When Tessa is betrayed by those closest to her she has to choose whether to remain loyal to her gift, or betray her own calling in an effort to assimilate.

And if her past is any indicator, Tessa won't have much say in that decision.

This is Part Two of the Outlier Chronicles and the long wait in between books was worth the wait!

Tessa and Joel pair up to go to the Prom and Liam and Bailey pair up to go as well. The prom takes place before the Recruitment Expo for Seniors to be recruited by the different sectors. It is also at this time that Juniors also go to observe and ask questions before next year rolls around for their turns to be recruited.

I can't say anymore about this book without revealing to much but all I can say is that when a writer can keep me up talking to myself all night even after I've finished reading, it's a terrific book! When I catch myself chewing on the inside of my mouth like the character is, it's a terrific book! I've never been to the Prom, but last night I went with Tessa and saw the room get lit up and saw all the sparkley dresses and the Queen and King get crowned. Megan did a fantastic job and this is definitely a 5-star book! I highly recommend you read this series!

I loved this book. It was the perfect continuation to Traced. In this book we finally find out who Tessa picks. Will it be Joel or Liam? I'm not telling, but you won't be dissapointed. Also, we meet some interesting new characters. My personal favorite is Pax. He's so witty and funny. I just know you'll love him. There is a lot more action in this installment than the last, but it's still filled with Squires amazing descriptions and writing style. I enjoyed everything about this book and can't wait to read the next one.

Just finished the second book in the Outlier Chronicles....and I can't wait for the third! This book really delves into the "Hub" and the Sectors a lot more than the first. Tessa is in the Tech Sector and having to juggle trying to keep her Tracer side and her Tech side from colliding. Don't want to give anything away, but I will say that I really got a better sense of the society and government in this book than I did in the first. And the ending so left me hanging!

The sequel to Traced, Recruited had a more "grown-up" feel to it. The characters are maturing and life is changing quickly. I loved the twists and turns as well as the development of the characters (new and old). As with all of the Megan Squires books, this is a page turner and a great read!
