Second Match is book five in the Perfect Match Agency. This is by Wendy Rathbone.

If you read book two, Chance Match, by the same author, then you’ve met Morgan Dor. He is a successful, wealthy business man. All he wants is to fall in love and live happily ever after. But the men he dates always end up wanting him for his money, for what he can do for them, rather than just for him. And he ends up getting hurt. So he enlisted the aid of the Perfect Match Agency. Only to have his match fall for his assistant instead of him.

Now, it’s been two years since that incident and in a weak moment, he filled out the Perfect Match questionnaire once again. When he receives the email that a match has been found, he is afraid it will be another false alarm He doesn’t want to get his hopes up this time. But decides to meet the match just to see what happens.

I don’t want to give away any more details except that Morgan’s match is named Riley Summerfield. And his circumstances are quite different than anything Morgan could have ever expected. This book might be just a tiny bit darker than the others. I loved Morgan and the way he dealt with the whole situation was both so wonderful and also so brave. But when his alpha knew that he’d met his mate, there was nothing he wouldn’t do to keep him safe and make him happy.

I really liked this one and didn’t want to put it down. There is a sixteen year age difference between these two but it worked. They were perfect for each other. I have one book left in this series, Forbidden Match by MM Farmer. I can’t wait to read it.

~2.5~

I read this book because I have no will power. I skimmed the teaser chapter at the end of Roe's book and the whole cult thing sounded interesting.

Besides the terrible, stilted dialogue, which is, unfortunately, this author's trademark, the story wasn't too bad.

I liked Riley, but based on the first chapter, I expected him to be sassier once he was free.

The lecherous villain (one of the head honchos of the cult) plot created contrived, unnecessary drama. How did the guy get Morgan's phone number and know where Morgan and Riley were staying? How did he know the date of the wedding and manage to get past security?

I wanted to see more of the MCs being together and how they dealt with Riley's UV allergy. Oh well. Everything was rushed and summarized at the end.

Second Match is the fifth book in the multi-author series Perfect Match Agency and Wendy Rathbone's second entry.

We first meet Morgan Dor in Chance Match when the Omega he was matched to ends up getting together with his assistant. He's happy for his dear friend but sad that his chance at finding the one was lost. He decides to sign up backup a year later and receives another match. He has a very high compatibility with them - close to a perfect- so he decides to meet with the Omega despite the strange rules from the other party.

Riley is 19 year old omega. He has been shunned by his family and community due to his UV allergy. He grew up in a religious cult that views him as a demon. He's been isolated from his family, and his parents know with his first heat coming up they need to set him up with an Alpha, one that could take him away from them even if he's an outsider.

The premise of this story was solid in my opinion. I think the whole cult, UV allergy and Morgan taking Riley away from his community could have been a great story if it wasn't so rushed and packed into a shorter book. Everything happens at such a breakneck speed, so it felt a bit shallow. While the series as a whole has insta mate/love factor this story had too much things going on you end up left with many questions.

I am happy that Morgan finds his mate and Riley is with such a caring Alpha who will love him, but I wish more was done with the plot and that certain aspects were fleshed out. I wish I got to see Riley and Morgan interact more outside of the heat and build that connection. It was focused on other things and not enough on them as a couple.

Overall, while the story had a lot of elements I would enjoy and an exciting premise it fell flat for me.

«Didn’t every child long for approval from their parents, even if their parents were totally off the map?»

Entertaining, but didn’t fully capture my attention.

3.75 stars rounded up
I really like omegaverse, but they all tend to blend together after a while because a lot of the time they feel like they follow the same script. Finding omegaverse books that feel original and unique isn’t always easy, but I enjoyed this one a fair amount. Sure, it’s instalove, a matchmaking agency, etc., but the circumstances made it different. One of the MCs has a UV light allergy, which of course would make anyone’s life difficult, but he also grew up in a cult where the members thought he was a demon because of his inhability to tolerate sunlight. He was treated quite horribly by his family and community. Thankfully his match through the agency treats him way better.

«Father once told me I was the most beautiful of his sons but added that it was no surprise to him because the devil used extreme beauty in demons to entice the pure souls of mortal men.»

Speaking of his match. Morgan was really sweet and did everything he could for his mate Riley. The book was very much focused on Riley and his upbringing (understandably so), which means I didn’t connect quite as much with Morgan, but I’m still glad he got the family he always wanted.

«“Did you just make a joke? In my time of need?”»

Mild spoiler warning.
I think this is the first time I’ve read mpreg where the birth was actually on-page.

Overall entertaining and sweet. I liked how the MCs communicated well about sex and limits even thought they were in the middle of heat and rut respectively. Breath of fresh air in an omegaverse novel.

This is what Riley was forced to do by his parents. He is their failure:
“Your father and I believe first and foremost that marrying you off, no matter how it is arranged, is God’s will. We will see this through.”

Everything he did disappointed them, literally everything. Now they found him an alpha through an agency. They want to get rid of him asap.
Riley can only hope, it’s his only way out of the prison his parents kept him in.

Morgan can’t believe the agency found him a perfect match. The omega comes from a cult, it’s all a bit strange, but he wants to try his luck, who knows?
An Omega who’s sensitive to light doesn’t sound as much luck. Only, when he finally meets his omega, he is stunned, Riley is breathtakingly beautiful, and his scent… delicious.

So far their first introduction.

What happened after this was way too much drama. The interactions between Morgan and Riley were hot, but that was it. Emotionally I couldn’t feel it. The cult matters weren’t convincing. So I skipped most.

Lots of telling vs showing and the escaping from a cult plot line was a much more prominent part of the book when I expected it to be more romance heavy. It’s instalust/instalove which is fine in a fated mates scenario but I just wanted to focus on Riley & Morgan as a developing couple.

I received an advanced copy for review - all opinions are my own.

This was better than the first book by this author for this series, but still entirely full of WTFs, what with the weird cult which believes that someone with a sun allergy (Riley, 19) is a demon from hell (WTF?) and two parents who have ignored and withheld love and affection from their son because of this weird cult (WTF?), who then offer him in marriage (bc cult rules demand it happen before his first heat) first to two lecherous men from their cult (WTF?) which Riley thankfully was able to avoid, and who then sign him up (thankfully, it turns out) for the Perfect Match Agency where he is then matched to Morgan who rides in like a knight in shining armor to rescue the prince from his tower, so to speak.

Riley was sweet, innocent to some degree, but with a little bit of bite, and Morgan was just a little too damn perfect. Or maybe that's just their immediate connection talking, with a dose of insta-love.

One forced marriage later at Riley's parents' house (which may or may not be valid), Morgan and Riley escape to a local B&B because heat and rut have begun, where one of the lecherous old cult members shows up to demand Morgan turn Riley over (WTF?)

Morgan being no dummy, and Riley in a panic, they drive home to Morgan's house where they finish the heat and quickly plan a real legal wedding. At which lecherous old cult member shows up again out of the blue to demand Riley be given to him (WTAF??).

We skip ahead a year to Riley's second heat.

The writing is decent, though a lot of time is spent on what these two get up to in the bedroom, and the mental and emotional abuse Riley suffered his entire life is basically glossed over and never really addressed. We're just expected to believe that a young man who's been shunned his ENTIRE LIFE, called a vampire, a demon, and hated by everyone for a condition he has ZERO control over, is going to quickly and easily adjust to life in the big wide world. Right. WTAF??

The writing was a bit choppy and sadly the romance in this book took a backseat to the cult plot line, which I really didn’t care about. I was invested in Riley and Morgan and sadly it took almost half the book for them to be alone.
We didn’t get much of any kind of romance, it was very instalove and sex = love.

They didn’t really even talk after the heat/rut ended. Just magically fell in love.

This book, much like Chance Match, ends at 83%. Which, in this case, I’m not totally mad about. Again, like Chance Match, everything after the 75% mark felt like epilogue.

I really liked Riley. I don’t know why the blurb doesn’t mention his UV allergy and being raised in a cult and treated like a demon…. Because that’s the best part of the book. I wish we got to see a tad more of him being a dramatic fashionista imp of the nights.

Second Match is the fifth story in the ‘Perfect Match’ collection written by various authors. This is also the second book written by the author in this series, the other being, ‘Chance Match.’ This stars Morgan Dor, who was first seen in ‘Chance Match,’ and Riley, an omega raised in a religious cult. It’s told in first person from both Morgan and Riley’s povs.

First, I’ll comment about the cover. I love it. Maybe it’s the model, but the dark scenery and the pink represent who Riley is. The model on the cover is Morgan since Riley has long dark hair.

The blurb doesn’t mention anything about Riley so it’s not complete, however it is accurate in regards to Morgan. A little more background on Morgan’s situation. If you read ‘Chance Match,’ you know Morgan was paired with Kace but it didn’t work out because it so happened that Storm, Morgan’s best friend and receptionist, was Kace’s mate. Morgan is disheartened, but eventually he tries again with Perfect Match to find his mate. And he’s paired with Riley, but Morgan is in for a big surprise when he goes to meet Riley and that’s what the plot is about, plus Riley’s heat, moving to Morgan’s home, some drama that follows them from Riley’s past, and their wedding. Despite the emotionally abusive life Riley lived, I would still consider this a fluffy story. Morgan and Riley are fated mates and they fit together and get their HEA.

When Morgan was introduced in ‘Chance Match,’ we learned that he was an optimist, cared about people, wanted to help them, and solve their problems, and despite his dates only dating him for his money, Morgan didn’t hold it against them. But he was still lonely and wanted a mate and a family. Morgan’s personality was consistent from Book Two and throughout this one. We learn more how much of a dreamer Morgan is because of the way he describes Riley. Everything about Riley made him the perfect mate for Morgan. Riley needed to be rescued from an oppressive situation and that called on Morgan’s rescuer part of his personality. Since Riley needed to be protected from UV light, Morgan’s protective instincts kicked in and it was something he could fix. Riley’s unconventional clothing choices and his stunning beauty mesmerized Morgan.

Riley lived in a gilded cage. His parents indulged him with physical objects and didn’t stop him from learning about the outside world, but he wasn’t allowed contact with others because of his UV condition that caused him to be labeled a ‘demon’ by the religious cult and his parents, nor did he receive physical affection from them. When Morgan and Riley met, it was instant lust and their hormones were set off. I felt that Riley’s personality wasn’t written consistently throughout the story. Before he met Morgan, Riley was more outspoken with an attitude, but once Morgan arrived and took him away, Riley was more like a submissive omega that’s often found in omegaverse stories. I was disappointed that Riley’s personality changed.

At one point in the story during Riley’s heat, I was concerned that the rest of the book was only going to be about the sex. But the author created a situation so that the scene shifted to something else that kept the plot moving. I do have a question about that scene though. I’ll place it behind a cut.

Overall, I liked Second Match. At one point it reminded me of Rapunzel in her tower, and that probably had to do some with Riley’s long hair. Anyway, despite the story’s beginning, this felt more like a fluffy read because of Morgan and Riley’s happiness, their personalities, and because how well they matched. I give this book, 4 Stars.

I received an ARC from the author and am giving my honest and unbiased opinion.

I loved Riley and his personality and how he didn't let his disabilities stop him from living his life. Morgan really won the lottery with Riley even with his crazy family and back story! Such a cute book!!

Obviously omegaverse isn’t realistic in general. But I still need a realistic feel to my fiction. Even if most of it isn’t actually realistic, I need it to FEEL realistic for the story.

That just didn’t happen here. It was a little too much and my suspension of disbelief just wasn’t there!

The writing is disjointed and the dialog is stiff, but most importantly exactly 0 research was done on the UV allergy that this entire story revolves around.

And how does this kid spend all of his time on the internet and online shopping on his wealthy parents’ dime, but he had no plans to leave the cult that thinks he’s an actual demon? He hasn’t bought every possible remedy for the allergy that keeps him “trapped” in his parents’ house? Sun protective clothing? A HAT?!

Make it make sense cult god.

Riley and Morgan

Another wonderful Perfect Match story! Ugh poor Riley. With a family and community that horrible I don't know how he turned out so sweet.

I wanted to read Morgan's story as soon as I'd read of him in Storm and Kaces book. Morgan is a great guy and I'm so glad he got his omega and his love story.

I give it 4.5 stars for my Alpha/omega fix. The ending was a bit predictable, but it's fine. I enjoyed reading about these characters. I do feel like there should have been someone there for Riley previously, a friend online, or maybe a neighbor kid, or even a sibling that had a relationship with him, defying the cult. Just sad.

Anyhow I enjoyed the book and love the series.

Morgan and Riley ❤️
3.5 Stars ⭐️

After reading the first book I was so happy to see such a genuinely nice character like Morgan get his HEA. Insta-love/Fated mates was the theme of this book but it didn't even matter, It was so cute. Poor Riley's story broke my heart, his family and upbringing was so sad. Morgan ended up being the perfect match for him and Riley for Morgan as well, they were meant for each other and their story was so endearing with a very fluffy HEA. I would recommend this book it was very sweet.

Ok so I adored the fact Morgan finally got his happy ever after, the super nice guy deserved it.
I even liked Riley, the sweet yet innocent omega, that life took a crap on.

What annoyed me was the constant and numerous references to the cult/religion. It seemed like that was more dominate than the love story between Morgan or Riley or at least, its how it felt to me.

Second Match by Wendy Rathbone is part of the Perfect Match Agency series. This book is about Morgan and Riley. The first match alpha Morgan got with the Perfect Match Agency mated with his assistent, does he want to risk trying a second time? Riley has been locked inside his entire life, because of his allergy to UV light and his parents and their church declaring him a demon because of said allergy.

I really liked their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and well written.

Reading an entire multi-author series to read two of the books by an author I love? Why the hell not! Besides, it gets two books off my TBR list all the while adding a few more to my Read list AND discovering a few new fabulous authors. Sounds like a win-win-win to me. ;)
The series is the Perfect Match Agency. The fifth book is "Second Match" by Wendy Rathbone.

We first met Morgan in "Chance Match" when it was matched with Kace, but Kace was fated with Storm. Morgan was sad (probably sadder than anyone realized), but I'm SO happy he gets his HEA here. Even if it's a little more complicated than initially expected.

Their connection was instant. Insta-lust (insta-rut and insta-heat). Insta-love. Insta-connection. Insta-understanding. Morgan was more than wiling to do anything in his power to protect, provide for, and keep Riley. Even if Riley's father's are insane (see last paragraph). Riley was more than willing to go out of his comfort-zone, leave the only things/place/people he knows to get out of there, to run away with Morgan, to live happily (and freely).

Morgan got his wish: to rescue the prince from the locked tower and fall madly in love. And Riley got his wish: someone to love and cherish him the way he's always wanted, the way he's never received before Morgan. The beginning and the middle weren't...quite as simple.

Also, it's not stated in this blurb, but Riley is actually (was) stuck in a cult. Where they treated him like shit. So many trigger warnings (none physically violent--though a threat of one from an elder). If you want them, please let me know (they spoil a few things, hence why they're not listed--but I'm more than happy to share them with you).

Second Match by Wendy Rathbone is the 5th book in the Perfect Match Agency series by various authors. Morgan is an executive for a large company and was matched by the online matching service but when his match came he was instantly attracted to his assistant/best friend so it didn’t work out. Then he was contacted again and said he had another perfect match. Obviously he was wary because of the first one but after talking to his assistant he decided to check it out. Riley lived in a religious cult but he had a severe allergy to sunlight and because of this his parents and elders in the church considered him a demon. He was left on his own for most of his life with little love from his family. He wasn’t allowed out of the house but he did have internet access and managed to get around the parental controls so he was able to see what the outside world was like. He was approaching his first heat and the church said he had to be married before it occurred, but he rejected two of the men who said they would marry him because he knew they would annul the marriage as soon as his heat was over and also they weren’t nice men. His parents needed him married so they contacted the Perfect Match Agency and he was matched with Morgan. He paid them a visit because they would not allow Riley out of their sight and they also put stipulations into the contract that he had to marry him before he could leave. Morgan found all this suspicious but once he saw Riley he was instantly attracted to him and knew they were supposed to be together and Riley felt the same way. The story continues as they work out a way to get married and leave before the elder that wanted Riley can take him away. They have many hot love scenes as they learn more about each other and start living the lives they were meant to have. There was also some angst as the church elder wouldn’t give up on getting Riley back. I enjoyed this story as it was a somewhat different take on alphas and omegas. Morgan was very supportive of Riley and his affliction and went out of his way to make sure precautions were made so he could stay out of the sun. Riley was somewhat flamboyant but also naïve and it was fun watching him come into contact with many things for the first time as well as enjoy love in all its forms. The church cult was also interesting in their beliefs and it was a relief that Riley was able to escape it. I recommend this book if you are interested in older/younger men with one having a disability and how they overcome it to be together.

Morgan would have been well within his rights to be sceptical of the Perfect Match Agency having a suitable omega for him – the last time they sent someone, they fell in love with his assistant. But Morgan is prepared to give them a second chance and allow for some idiosyncrasies in how he was to meet his omega – at his parents’ property in the evening. There was also the fact that they were insisting on marriage before any mating took place, which was a little out there but he was prepared to risk it for the chance to meet the right man for him.

Riley is allergic to sunlight, which in his parents’ religion means that he’s a demon. As such, they have done the right thing for him all of these years, but now that he is old enough to go into heat, they need to marry him off. He’s managed to avoid the less than attractive offers he’s received from the alphas in the community but time is running out and something has to be done. But what kind of alpha will want an omega with Riley’s condition?

This was actually a sweet, gentle romance with an omega who has more than made the best of what life has given him but who yearns for freedom, and a mature, sensible Alpha who longs for his perfect match. Riley and Morgan were supportive and kind to each other and the Perfect Match agency have managed to do it again.

There were some parts of the story that I felt were unnecessary – the ‘villain’ was a bit of a caricature who wanted Riley for himself which didn’t make sense to me because according to their religion, he was a demon so surely none of the members should have wanted anything to do with him? I thought Riley’s parents were a little bit one-dimensional but to be fair, they weren’t the main thrust of the story. It was nice to see characters from other books in the series and I would recommend this if you are looking for something quietly sweet to read.

After reading about Morgan in a previous book in the Perfect Match Agency series, I was excited to find out that he would get his perfect match.

We meet Riley, a young omega whose family and the cult have ostracized him due to his UV allergy. They consider him a demon, his parents have treated him horribly, and he does not have a great relationship with his siblings. Unbeknownst to him, his parents have signed him up for the Perfect Match Agency to find a mate to marry him before his first heat. In their cult, omegas must be married before their first heat. It was sad to see Riley's treatment by his family and the religious figure who wanted to mate him.

Morgan is hesitant to use the Perfect Match Agency after his previous experience during Chance Match. He is a sweetheart and a hopeless romantic whose heart has been taken advantage of many times. When he gets his match email, he hesitates to open it, and his best friend/assistant Storm encourages him to go for it. He is surprised to read the stipulations attached to Riley's profile but intrigued enough to set up a meeting.

When Morgan and Riley meet, they are instantly attracted and yearn to be with each other. Morgan is determined to get Riley out of the confining life he has lived up until now. Riley is eager to leave with Morgan to escape the community he was raised in and the lecherous religious figure who wanted to mate him.

I loved that Morgan accepted Riley and adjusted his whole home to accommodate him with lights that did not use UV. I love that they got their HEA, and I look forward to reading the final book in this series.

I received a free copy of this book via GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Alpha Morgan is a wealthy businessman but the omegas he attracts only want a sugar daddy and so don't stick around. He used the Perfect Match Agency before but his first match ended before it could start. Now he has applied for a second match and when they find one he is cautious not to be fooled again. Omega Riley has lived his whole life in isolation in a cult community that believes he is a demon because he has a severe allergy to sunlight. Having been rejected and therefore never forced to go to church he shares none of their beliefs. He is still under the guardianship of his parents he is about to go into his first heat. Church law demands that he is untouched and has a husband before that happens. Riley rejected the two horrid prospects from within the community and so his parents sign him up to the Perfect Match Agency so he has a marriage even if is outside the community. But what Riley really needs, more than marriage, is to be rescued from his bleak and toxic environment. And Morgan, when he meets Riley, maybe just the alpha to do it.

I really enjoyed this story with poor Riley who is a prisoner and isolated to live his life alone (although at least he is given the internet and the ability to shop online). I loved Morgan and how hopeful he was to meet Riley even though he found the limitations very hard to accept. He wasn't phased by Riley's illness and it was great to see all the changes he made in order to protect him. Easy to read, feel and understand it was impossible to not have empathy for Riley and his treatment in his own home as he was growing up. This is an MM story with mature content set in the Omegaverse with mpreg.

I'm greatly enjoying The Perfect Match Agency series. In Bk 2 in the series, Morgan was an unfortunate alpha whose match found a better match with his administrative assistant. Now, several years later, Morgan is still alone and lonely. When he receives an email that notifies him of a very high match, Morgan is hopeful, but also careful of giving his feelings away too soon.

Riley is a young man preparing to enter his first heat. He was raised by parents who put the family in an extremist cult-like religion. Riley is the only omega son and he was born with a UV light sensitivity that causes him to live his life in mostly darkness. Due to his parents' extremist beliefs, Riley has always been treated as a "demon", ostracized by the family, receiving very little love and support. He dreams of finding a loving mate, but one of the church's elders, a cruel man, has his sights on Riley and his first heat.

When Morgan and Riley first meet, the chemistry is so powerful that they almost enter a full heat and rut. People are against them and Riley fears obstruction in his future with Morgan. The relationship must proceed quickly because biology demands that they decide their next steps. This low-angst book has supportive friends, hurdles to cross, and a warm, loving relationship with a great HEA.

SECOND MATCH is Morgan Dor's story. I first met him in Chance Match when the omega he'd been paired with fell for his assistant instead. So when I saw Morgan in this story, I knew I had to read it.

It did help me, having read about Morgan before, as there isn't much background to him in this book. Riley is the omega he gets matched with, who suffers from an extreme UV allergy. This means he gets called a demon and shunned by everyone, including most of his family, by the religious cult he grew up with.

This book moves at a breakneck pace which, unfortunately, means most parts are not fleshed out or given the attention they deserve. At best, points are skimmed over and the reader is told what has happened, rather than being shown, ie. Riley's UV treatments, the year of their marriage, and the crazy cult leader. I was left with many questions after reading this, which was a shame as I had loved the other story.

A good addition to the Perfect Match Agency series that I did enjoy, but I would recommend you read Chance Match first, just so you get a little more background.

Finding the Light

We first met Morgan when he signed up for the Perfect Match Dating Agency. He's an older alpha who has a successful business and keeps getting matched with omegas who use him for his money.
When he is matched with Kace, he's excited, though his assistant Storm (also an alpha) is the one who turns out to be a perfect match for Kace.
This time round, he's matched with a young omega named Riley, whose parents set up the profile, demand he visits him at home, at night and that they marry before sex.
Riley lives his life in the dark in his bedroom, due to a UV and sunlight allergy.
His parents are part of a religious cult and want him mated and gone, as their religious leader, Carter, wants to take Riley's virginity and mate him.
When Morgan discovers this, he immediately offers to help Riley, the attraction instantaneous and Riley's heat being triggered. Morgan's rut also.
I wanted Morgan to find a mate after the first book and I'm happy to see he's found one who needs care and a rescue.
Rathbone has gone into detail about Riley's condition and also created a romantic scenario, a suitable villain and a lot of chemistry.
Seeing Storm and Kace return was great, as was the finale.
It's a sexy, sweet and funny book that also highlights the danger of religious cults.
I look forward to more books in this multi author series.
