This is wonderful story about a stray lamb without a mother and a sheepdog without a pet sheep. The farmer's family takes the lamb in to raise it and Tess, the sheepdog, decidedly, takes Charlie, the lamb in. The lamb is raised by Tess and later when Charlie is included in the flock, Tess is clearly his mother. One night a big snowstorm is happening and Tess must round up the sheep and get them to safety, but most are confused are unable to follow through. But Charlie, Tess' sheep son, helps and saves the day.

A really lovely story with perfect illustrations - the flora and fauna of the English countryside appear with seasonal accuracy on every page. The children found it delightful and funny. Winner picture book!

Gorgeous artwork with highly detailed illustrations that your kiddos can take their time exploring. The story is fun and easy to understand for most. This is not an AR book unfortunately.

“Sheepdog in the Snow” tells an amazing story about a sheep named Charlie that grows up thinking he’s a sheepdog. Charlie and Tess, an actual dog, grow up together and save each other one day during a big snowstorm. This story has lots of descriptive language and vocabulary and follows an ideal story plot. The pictures are also great and show exactly what is going on in the story, which is great for visual learners! I would use this story as a tool for introducing “good” writing and then discuss with students what exactly makes the story such a great piece of work.

An absolutely charming story about a little lamb who, lost in the late-spring snow, is adopted and raised by a farmer and his family, including sheepdog Tess. In fact, Charlie spends so much time with Tess that when he gets big enough to rejoin the flock, he believes he's a sheepdog too. And if it wasn't sweet enough seeing him running around trying to herd the sheep, his sheepdog skills ultimately save their lives one snowy day.

A nice story for Easter, methinks!
