Can you imagine living your whole life unaware that it all was a lie? Everything Lyla thought she knew comes crashing down with the arrival of a mysterious boy. A doomed love, strange creatures, unknown worlds; a new life.
Lyla's life had always been defined as normal. She had a best friend, she went to school, and she got into fights.
Lately though, she begins feeling strange. Pains she had as a child, the physical ones, keep coming back, getting stronger each time. Her body starts to change and the impossible suddenly seems all to real.
It isn't long until she's swept into another world, a world full of faeries. What she'd only read in books, comes to life as she battles against creatures that threaten the faerie's existence. As she learns about her past and what is to come of her future, she realizes that some things in life are presented to you whether you want them or not. Yet underneath all of this, something dark is threatening to pull everyone under. Only one thing can save them, but even that may not be enough.
God it's so boring it's boring! I'm 45 pages into it but I've wanted to quit since page five. My determination to finish books is the only reason I'm pressing on. It reads like it's a fan fiction written by a 15 year old for 9-12 year olds. Though this writer may have better spelling, it's just so boring. And the characters are so flat. There is no character dimension. Speaking of characters... they're also unbelievable and not in the good way. Just the way they react to one another and what's happening to them is unrealistic. The relationship between the main character and the dad in particular seems to be that of some teenager's wish fulfilment. Too many pointless filler scenes and the important scenes are rush though. I know I've said so before but it bares repeating, God it's so boring it's boring! So much so that I can't even focus on the book long enough to fully evaluate what's wrong with it.
So I've finished the book and I have to say it wasn't great, I didn't feel attached to the characters and found the story quite boring to be honest. It was too short for what the author wanted to do with the story and the ending was really disappointing, it cuts off to a cliff hanger but I have a feeling that there won't be another book. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Story was good - a little vague in places... The characters were lightly unbelievable and needed some more development and interaction... It also ended abruptly with no finality to the story... Will there or won't there be a continuation?
I really like this book! I think the characters needed to be a little more developed and there are parts when she went through some of the most important parts really quickly with no room for detail but otherwise it was great and I really hope there will be a second one!
A some point in the book the author used the incorrect 'hear'. She worded sentences strangely like 'he stayed his ground'. Maybe it's just me? The story was romantic and eventful, slightly cliché. Kept my interest for awhile, doubt I'll have the motivation for the second. But You never know.
The usual: Girl goes to school, meets cute boy, instantly falls in love, finds out he's from another world, is part of a prophesy, and so on. But I enjoyed it, and it was a really nice short story!
this book was well written and can see a good series coming of it. i just hope it does become a series i would love to see if the soul mates in the book over come all the obstacles
