This is my favorite book in this trilogy. Although it is very funny, it is also very heartfelt. The Cheeseman kids’ real names are revealed in this book, and they fit the characters amazingly well. The author, Cuthbert Soup, is also finally a proper character in this, influencing the plot rather than just being a narrator. This is a perfect ending to a really good series. There is truly no other story like this.

The kids and I enjoyed the conclusion to this trilogy. The kids loved the absurd goings-on with this time-traveling family, I loved the advanced vocabulary woven throughout, and we all loved the humor. What a fun, adventure-filled, weird (sock puppet) series!

If you (or your child(ren) like action, quirky humor and out of the ordinary problem solving from characters--read this series. It's highly entertaining (especially the author's asides throughout the books).

Last in a fantastic, humorous, and heartwarming trilogy full of adventure for young and old. Would recommend to anyone who is young at heart, especially those with children.

A very fun conclusion to the series! I think it's pretty cool the humor hung on and the story stayed strong, something not always managed in a series. I highly recommend the set!

This series was so funny and quite action-packed. Here was my favorite part...p. 144
"...I was greeted at the door by my loyal Jack Russell terrier, Kevin, whom I had adopted nine years earlier when I found out I was unable to have puppies.
All in all, Kevin had been a good dog over the years, though he did suffer occasional lapses in behavior, having once been kicked out of obedience school for telling the teacher that I had eaten his homework - which, for the record, I had not.
My two snails, Gooey and Squishy, on the other hand, were pets of exemplary character, and were accomplished athletes as well. Like my parents, they had also gone to bed early that evening, exhausted from their extensive training for the upcoming Iron Snail competition...
...I opened the fridge and found that Mother had brewed up a large batch of her famous Spam(r) Chowder, the most delicious thing one could ever hope to eat. Unfortunately, because the recipe is a closely guarded family secret, I am unable at this time to reveal the secret ingredient that gives this dish its special ham-like flavor...
...and settled into my chair by the fire with...a good book, because, as they say, a good book is like a good friend. Well, good luck trying to find a book that will loan you money, bail you out of jail, or water your plants while you're on vacation. Or in jail."

It is no wonder that the Cheeseman family is starting to lose hope. Instead of arriving where they need to be to save their dear Olivia, they find themselves in the incredibly frustrating and confusing "some times." This is a place where summer and winter could be two minutes apart. Where Vikings and dinosaurs could be next door neighbors. Where you could meet your own grandchild, who could be in love with a Neanderthal.
This book gets crazy. But it was nonetheless clever and entertaining like the first two in the series. Think Back to the Future.... Times TEN. Meeting your future self? Meeting your self of two years ago? That gets crazy. I got it. My nine-year-old (I think) got it, but he IS a bit of a mature and thoughtful type. He liked them quite a bit and is currently reading them all over again.
I found it an excellent ending to the trilogy. But more than anything, I think we will remember and laugh about our favorite one-liners and pieces of unsolicited advice from Dr. Cuthbert Soup. Ben just mentioned to me one of his favorites...

Time is relative. What is "one second" to one person could mean something entirely different to another. For instance, if your brother asks 'Can I borrow your bike for a second,' what he really means is 'I'm going to ride your bike around until the chain falls off.'
That kind of stuff? It makes my little boys laugh.

He really enjoyed the adventure and humor.

This book exciting book follows a family on a quest to find their mother but this is no ordinary quest. The family embarks on a time traveling journey on their LVR-ZX. They hope to locate their mother who passed away, once they find her in the past they will bring her back to the future. The only problem is that they land in a world called "Some Times". With a broken LVR-ZX and an unpredictable new land, the new objective is to not only find their mother but to survive the land they have been stranded on. Students of all ages will love this book not only because of the fantasy elements but because of the humor. A great end to the series.

It's got dinosaurs and Vikings and jumbo jets, all in one place, at one time. Luckily, it's not a long time before the family is back on course again. And just as they're about to rescue their mother at last, the kids confront something utterly surprising. Something wilder than dinosaurs, Vikings, or jumbo jets. I really liked this series! It was interesting, full of quirky adventure, great drawings, and the humor was just great.
Some of my favorite parts:
"Weary from my travels, I summoned Hans, my driver...and had him bring the limo around. I mentioned...that I should like to drive myself, as it always relaxes me after a long day of flying the corporate jet. He mumbled something about me being a control freak, or at least that's what it sounded like coming from the backseat."

"The longest journey begins with a single step. I'm not sure who first said that, but odds are it was someone who did not own a car."
I was amused and intrigued throughout!

Review of an advance copy:
Just as silly and ridiculous as the first two books if not quite as strong. Like the previous books, it has lots of really funny lines, some from the kids and some from Dr. Cuthbert Soup. Speaking of Cuthbert Soup, he is my favorite character from this book, and I thought it was great that we (and the Cheesemans!) finally get to meet him other than through his unsolicited advice. Although I was not quite as captivated by this book, it is a solid end to the trilogy. I would recommend this series (read in order, please!) to fans of M. T. Anderson's Pals in Peril and C. Alexander London's An Accidental Adventure series.

The brilliant inventor Ethan Cheeseman and his trio of gifted children have successfully mastered time travel and broken their family curse. Now they just have to make one more time jump to save the family matriarch, Olivia, from being murdered by the sinister forces that have stalked them for years. Unfortunately, their first attempt lands them in the extratemporal region Some Times, where they are equally likely to be killed by Vikings, dinosaurs, or avalanches. More wacky hijinks, including a special guest appearance by the inimitable Dr. Cuthbert Soup himself, enliven this final installment of the Cheeseman chronicles.

A suitably crazy conclusion to Cuthbert Soup’s three volume, ridiculously funny time-machine adventure. It’s refreshing to find such witty (and sometimes wacky) entertainment drawn from everyday experiences of a modern family, especially one that includes an adolescent (admittedly they are a little unusual in their attempt to go back in time, yet the humour is usually in things we can all relate to). Word-plays, mind games and perplexing possibilities are thought up, said aloud and even lived through in this quirky conclusion that can’t but leave a smile on your face.

Like the rest of the trilogy, this book is narrated by Dr. Cuthbert Soup, who like Lemony Snicket, makes an appearance in the book he's writing. There's more adventure, craziness, nonsense, and sibling bonding as the Cheeseman family continually tries to go back in time to save their mother/wife from being poisoned. It's a satisfying ending to the trilogy, with enough twists of just crazy insanity to keep it interesting.

I didn't realize this was the end of a trilogy, but it didn't matter. The story of a family traveling through time to save their mother, of the children working with their father and for the good of the group instead of succumbing to adolescent ennui and superiority, and the witty writing made this one of my top picks for 2012.

Ethan Cheeseman and his family are stuck in a time arena called Some Times. They are trying to go back in time to save Olivia, the mom, from being poisoned. The time machine that Ethan and Olivia invented works so well that spys, government officials and bad guys are after it. We meet some new characters, but a lot of the old ones appear too. Enjoyable.

I must be getting old. The humor is there, but not as good as the first one. The story is s bit scatterbrained as well. And the treatment of the time travel? Well, the last Artemis Fowl at least kind of works with the paradoxes, even if it makes little sense. This was okay, but not nearly as good as the first. And what about Plexiwave taking over the world? Oh well, time for ice cream instead.

Narrated by Dick Hill. This series has been so hilariously convoluted I still don't know what the point was (other than saving their mother Olivia). But Hill takes up the humor of the books with full gusto for plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. This appears to be the end of the series...or at least this particular time-traveling adventure.

This one definitely suffered from "sequel syndrome". :) Although this last book of the triology had some of the humor found in the first two, the story itself was pretty convoluted and had me rolling my eyes more than once. I kept wanting to say "you've got to be kidding!" Probably 2 1/2 stars.

This whole series is fun. I read it out loud with my wife and we both busted up laughing several times. It's not very complicated and could have done a lot more (and been even more funny), but still a very fun quick read.

I would really recommend this book after reading it. It is a very fun book of a family who goes to the past to rescue their mom. It has really good and unexpected endings that make you want to keep reading. It is a book with a very fun plot of unbelievable events.

The silly conclusion to the fantastical adventure of the Cheeseman family. This book did not have me laughing out loud likr the original did, but was still an enjoyable and entertaining read. I'm glad to have this series in my personal library.

Accidentally started with this one first. Now I see why I was confused. My ten year old son liked this series. The instructions for making butternut squash were hilarious.

Our family loved this series! Full of quirky-hilarious wit and action, this was a perfect ending to the "A Whole Nother Story" trilogy! Please write more Mr. Cuthbert Soup!
