Both the photography and the recipes in this book will have you drooling. The recipes include anything from basic apple juice, applesauce, pie, even apple cider vinegar(!) recipes as well as more sophisticated dishes such as bisteeya and fish tacos (really!) I haven't cooked all the recipes yet, but I'm pretty sure I will. Everything has been delicious so far, especially the ham on apple biscuits. I also appreciated the author suggesting the best varieties of apples to use for each recipe.

I picked this book up at The Dollar Tree for $1 and it was $1 well spent! I am not much of a cook but I think I could make any of the recipes. They all look delicious! There are 50 recipes including meat dishes, salads, soups, breakfasts, jams/relishes/chutneys, and desserts. I made one dish- the sweet potato & apple hash with egg baskets. It was yummy and healthy! (Better than hash browns and bacon.) I plan on making one of the desserts for Thanksgiving. Lots of choices - apple pie, apple streudel, Apple almond tart, whole baked cinnamon cardamom apples, fried Apple hand pies, plus more. If you are interested in cooking with apples, this is the book for you! This may be the book that turns me in to a cook.

A well-written cookbook with great photographs and some appealing original recipes. The turkey apple sausage looks like a healthy alternative to store-bought sausage.

I borrowed this book from the local public library.

The recipes are just strange -not for me- and one is even unsafe.

In "traditional apple butter" she recommends:
"Chop the apples into 1-inch pieces and add to the stockpot. (Yes, core, seeds, and all!)"
then later in the recipe you are to puree in a blender.

Hey kids, apple seeds contain a compound that becomes cyanide. The lethal dose of apple seeds for a toddler starts at 30 seeds. Seeds are generally not a big deal if swallowed whole. When crushed or ground they are not safe.

This recipe calls for 4 pounds of apples. Each apple can contain up to 20 seeds. I would certainly NOT feed it to my babies.

It's this last recipe that gets it 1 star -- otherwise would have been 2.5
