Harriet Muncaster studied illustration at Norwich University College of the Arts before going on to get an MA in children’s book illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. In creating the art for her first book for children, she was thrilled to have found a good outlet for her lifelong fascination with miniatures. She lives in Hertfordshire, England.
Mirabelle is jealous of Carlotta’s sparkly new skates, she needs money fast so she can buys some but they are expensive, so she tries running her own business starting with dog walking and moving onto bracelet making but things don’t work out as planned.
This was cute and I really liked the Mirabelle was trying so hard to figure out her own way of earning money. She didn’t want to do chores for her parents but wanted to independently figure out her money scenario. She was so desperate to get the skates she didn’t really think either of her plans through which added some troubles and humour into the story.
I like that in the end she learnt a valuable lesson and was grateful for what she was given, as long as she could still have fun she didn’t mind in the end. Which was a great thing to read. She also learnt that hard work is literally hard work and though she thought it sounded easy and fun infact it wasn’t.
As always I love the cute illustrations in these books, it was a cute read and an interesting story. I always enjoy going into this fun fantasy world with our adorable witch-fairy, they are such easy and relaxing fun reads.
I loved this one! The 4th I've read of the early chapter book series and they are incredibly wholesome and sweet. Only content info to bear in mind is the witch aspect. Also a brief mention of a birthday.
Mirabelle would love to own a pair of magical roller sates but when mum and dad tell her she has to earn the money to buy them there is only one option … start a business.
Dog walking seems to be a great idea but when even the leads get out of hand maybe it’s not… Will selling enchanted charm bracelets be a better idea?
With Mirabelle we learn, with great hilarity, the importance of making an effort whilst discovering that taking charge is not always what it seems!
With its witchy purple and black colour scheme this is another delightful instalment in the Mirabelle series.
