If you're a fan of the Quest series and you haven't read Dimension Quest (Quest, #12) yet, I don't know what you are waiting for. After the heartbreaking cliffhanger that Rebellion Quest (Quest, #11) ended on, DimQ delivers an action-packed, emotionally charged, and satisfying continuation of the series.

The most ambitious book of the series to date, DimQ showcases DeGroodt's mastery of world building and plot intricacies. Questers are taken places no one has ever Traveled before and are led there by some highly unlikely characters. Throughout DimQ seemingly small choices that characters made in previous books start to stack up - shaping and guiding the nature of choices that are available to them to solve DimQ's chief conundrum - fixing Evil's breech, so that he can no longer infiltrate the Land so easily.

One of my favorite aspects of DeGroodt's writing is that she manages to cover the full emotional spectrum in each of her works, and DimQ is no exception. DimQ showcases what a lot of fantasy series fail to effectively articulate - some of our heroes, whom we've come to expect to be among the strongest emotionally, enter this novel on the brink of insanity, completely emotionally bereft. Though obstacles do occur in DimQ that must be solved by physical might, the journey that is focused on is one from emotional and mental weakness back to emotional strength and mental stability.

Of the 12 books in the series published so far, DimQ ranks as my personal #3 right behind Hunt Quest (Quest, #8) and Seer Quest (Quest, #7). If you're up to this point in the series and wondering whether or not you should continue, it is well worth the read. If you haven't started the Quest series yet and are wondering if you should, rest assured that even after a dozen books, DeGroodt's still got what it takes to keep fans coming back for more.
