Hyena Heat #1

Every Night Forever

Rate this book
After narrowly avoiding a personal disaster, she-wolf Alyssa Morgan can’t wait to leave her wolf pack and start her life over. Trying to rebuild her shattered self-esteem, she swears off relationships. When she accepts a job at Stone’s gym, working for three hunky were-hyena brothers, she discovers the hardest thing she ever had to do wasn’t leaving her pack, but keeping them at arm’s length.

Dante, Cairo, and Mason Stone have been unlucky in love. As were-hyenas, they need to share a mate, and they hadn’t found the right woman… until Alyssa walks through the door. But the sweet she-wolf is anything but interested in a relationship with them. Oppressed within her wolf pack, she doesn't see herself as worthy of their affection. When her life is threatened and they almost lose her, they decide it's time to convince her that she is their mate and they are perfect for each other.

This story contains one she-wolf trying to find herself, three overprotective were-hyenas with love on their minds, m/f/m/m interaction, neck biting, and symbolic tattoos.

Wolf shifter Alyssa Morgan is tired of being the pack playmate and when she makes her thoughts known that she is looking for a mate, rather than a roll in the hay, she is shunned from her pack. With the realization that it is either put out or stay out, she decides she is leaving and making a fresh staart.

Mason Stone knows the second Alyssa walks in to interview, she is the mate he and his brothers have been looking for. Were-hyenas mate in threes and they have been looking for the one. Convincing his brother Cairo is no problem, but Dante is a bit more hesitant in committing to Alyssa who doesn't seem interested in any of them. Alyssa though is struggling, she is attracted to all three and doesn't want to be treated like another play toy so she remains aloof instead. When a threat attacks Alyssa, the time for wooing is over and all three men plan to make their intent clear, she is their mate.

This story had so many of my favorite things going for it, shifters, fighters, full figured women, and menage. I enjoyed this story quite a bit, but also was a bit disconnected towards the end. I wanted the mating to happen and their was chemistry, but a lot of tears and there were times Alyssa came off less strong than I thought she actually was. Good story, but had a couple of hiccups for me. I would definitely continue the series though.

I have loved books by Butler but no this one. The heroes are wonderful and I love a hyena shifter. The heroine has reasons to be as damaged as she is.

My issues are with some of the basic plotting and worldbuilding. She doesn't seem to know anything of hyena culure nor does she ask. The brothers know about wolf culture or at least the bare bones.

Do the humans know about shifters or not?

I would switched out a lot of the action plot for the falling in love or courting plot.

So, yep. Not good for me.

I love a good menage book (especially a shifter menage book) with 2 or more men loving, adoring, cherishing, showering 1 woman with attention and HOT sex. There are only a few authors that are able to write a menage that includes a great story along with HOT sex. R.E. Butler is definitely one of those authors. This is the second menage that I read from R.E. and it's one of my favorites. With each book I read from her I find myself becoming more and more of a fan and that's saying something because after reading The Wolf's Mates series, I was already a pretty big fan!! Loved Jason's (especially after I just found out that R.E. patterned Jason's character from Jax on Sons of Anarchy *sigh*) and Linus's books in that series.

I have to say that after reading Every Night Forever, this is now my favorite of all of her books. Wow...just absolutely loved it. I actually went back and reread when I was finished because I didn't want the story to end. I am definitely under the spell of Dante, Cairo, and Mason. *sigh*

Dante, Cairo, and Mason were introduced in Michael & Shyne's book and I instantly loved them, even though they didn't behave themselves and caused a ton of trouble for Michael & Shyne. I was so happy to read that R.E. was giving them their own book and a chance to redeem themselves and find their HEA.

Such a great story. Mason was sweet and sentimental, Dante was more serious and thoughtful being the older brother, and Cairo was a mixture of the two. And they were all HOT, muscled, sexy, charming, and loving. Alyssa was one lucky character!! She was a perfect mate for them. I loved how they all interacted with Alyssa and I loved how she was with them in return. One of my favorite parts is with the rings~theirs being tattooed and the meaning behind them and then the rings that they each gave Alyssa. She was "their butterfly, their 4th, and their heart." So sweet.

There was no shortage of HOT sex in fours and as a couple (strictly m/f/m/m or m/f ~ no m/m or m/m/m) against the wall, in the shower, on a desk, on a couch, under a tree and finally in a bed. lol ;)

Can't wait for the next book in this series and I love how R.E. introduced those characters in this book. Sounds like it will be another good one. Great start to a new series and again probably my favorite book by R.E. so far. Definitely a keeper to be reread. I also wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book.

Another great cover!!

BEST OF THE BEST rating.

Quite frankly reading the first chapter of this book I was so ticked off I actually tried to return it on my Kindle and couldn't figure out how (turns out you have to do it from your computer...). So I kept reading. I really hate giving up on a book anyway.

You do NOT start out with sympathy for the heroine, Alyssa. She is taking a pregnancy test after getting drunk and taking an 18 year old (she is 26) home with her. She's a complete party girl who has apparently been living loose and free for the last 10 years.

After her encounter with the teenager she decides that she can't keep going on as she was and decides to change. This I can respect.

She is a wolf shifter and her pack are all a bunch of assholes, which is apparently how wolf shifter packs roll in this world. Basically all unmated women are held responsible for "taking care" of all unmated men. NOT COOL. When she stops sleeping around all the women are horrible to her (especially the unmated ones, because they have to "pick up her slack" and she needs to "get over herself") and the men are worse. In fact, unmated women are called "pack toys." Dislike, dislike, dislike.

So Alyssa decides that her best bet at starting over is to become a rogue wolf and move to a new town, start fresh with people who don't know her. So she reverses her (horrible sounding) bleach job, gets rid of her clubbing clothes, answers an add for a receptionist at a gym in another town, packs up her car and gets out of Dodge.

The owners of the gym where she applies are brothers (Cairo, Dante & Mason) and hyena shifters. Their shifter family groups are made up of 3 brothers are one female. They were hurt before by a woman, so they are all gun shy, but they all want to find their mate and settle down.

When Alyssa shows up for the interview all three of them think she may be their destined mate, but they resist it and Alyssa is so spooked of sexual relationships she avoids anything but a professional relationship with all of them (despite liking all three).

Obviously this doesn't last for long, and the brothers are actually pretty sweet with her, giving her time to get used to them. Eventually everyone is happy.

Decent shifter ménage. One of the biggest problems I had with the book was that the heroes were not well differentiated. To further this problem, the author used too many pronouns. She did a lot of head jumping between the three guys and didn't always clarify that she had switched characters by restating the proper guy's name.

I liked that the heroine was not a perfect woman. I believe girls who have lived a little too far on the wild side can have a wake up moment and more power to them if they can turn their lives around. I liked the way that there was a rationale for the hyena shifters to have one mate to share. That was the way their society was structured. Even though I have not read other books by this author it was evident that thought had been put into each different shifter society.

The small suspense plot that ran through the book gave just enough background to carry the story along. The book was a bit too saccharine in places with all the insta love going on but that's generally par for the course and I held my cringes down and just kept reading. Sometimes you just need to read some man and man and man on girl fun.

Alright look so this is not my usual cup of tea, and let's be real I read it on a sort-of dare because hyenas are my favorite animal. That being said, this book does exactly as it says on the tin. If you want a smutty romance featuring shifters, this is the book for you. I rank it low due to iffy writing (in my opinion) but again for this genre it's right on par.

Every Night Forever

Alyssa Morgan is done being a chew-toy for the wolves. She turns rogue and heads out to a town with no were's. Or so she thought. When she answers and ad for a front end job at a Fitness Club , she finds the owners to be Were Hyenas and oh so tasty looking. She refuses to be a chew toy or let her past behavior come forefront. She will keep her legs closed, her mouth to her self. She just has to convince the brothers of this. The brothers are their own clan and looking for their True mate that will belong to all 3 of them.
This should sound like heaven to Alyssa being the only woman for 3 hot men who will love her and treat her right. But her past has a way of rearing it's ugly head. The brothers will fight til the death to save their true mate and make her trust her judgement once and for all.

This spin off of book 4 is fantastic. To see the ins and out of another were society is always great. This Author has a way with writing that still makes me glad of the stumble across her. R.E. Butler reality knows how to spin a tale and keep you on edge and really come to care about the characters.
These brothers came across in book 4 as neanderthals, yet in this book you really get to see them and come to know them and care about what happens to them. I can't wait for more of this series.

Mmm…mmm…mmm…yes! No one writes a multi-partner scene like R.e. She can make three men and one woman coming together in one bed (or shower, or living room, or…lol…you get the idea) feel as natural as breathing air. The story gets us under the skin of Alyssa. No female would ever want to be in her shoes (in the beginning, anyway…but we’d be clawing and fighting to be her by the end!). She feels (and rightly so) as if she has no worth to the males in her pack. She’s treated as someone to use and walk away from—and she’s done with that kind of life! Yay!

When she moves to another area and answers an ad for a receptionist position at a gym, she meets three hot and handsome brothers (hyenas under their gorgeous skin). All three have been waiting for the right woman to come along. Why? Because all three will need to share the same woman. Whoa! Alyssa finds each man attractive, but she thinks she is going to end up in the same position she was in with her previous pack…and she likes them all too well to pick one and cause a division between the brothers.

I won’t spoil how everything unravels, but I will say she is one lucky woman!

Kudos, R.e.! You are like a speeding Amtrak train when it comes to pumping out books! Keep up the great work—you have lots of fans waiting at the station to get on board with whatever you write!

I love this hyena shifter Ménage series. After being introduced to Dante, Cairo and Mason in Wolf's Mate # 4, Ms. Butler decided to give us a whole new set of guys to swoon over and heroines to cheer. Alyssa is a bit broken. She's never known anyone who truly cared for her. Family has left her behind and men see her as nothing but convenient. I like that before the story even began she's started making changes to her empty life. Upon meeting the Stone brothers she tries valiantly to resist. She doesn't want to fall back into her destructive patterns, even though she's drawn to each of the guys. I loved that the three of them see her needs and set about fixing the broken parts without asking for anything in return. There's action, bad guys, obstacles and plenty of spice.

This was my first read by this author and a slightly different take on shifters. I liked that hyenas were portrayed in a favorable light, since most shifter books have them being not so nice. The world building was minimal, and I had a lot of questions when I finished the book. But overall, it wasn't bad.

Blah waste of money!

I had such high hopes on this book I have read just about every paranormal romance novel series that's out there and I was desperately trying to find a new series to grab my attention. I come across this book and I saw there were 6 more books in the series so I figured I'd give it a shot the sample was good enough it ended leaving me wanting to read more but after I bought it and got to reading I realized I was going to be thoroughly disappointed. Starts off with Alyssa she lives in a pack and she's nothing but the pack ho her words not mine LoL but anyways she's tired of being the boys play thing so she decides to pack up and leave make a new start in a new town new job all that jazz so she goes in for an interview at a gym run by three hot hyenas and they like her a lot so they hire her and come to find out she's their bride or whatever she's meant to be theirs forever and so she starts freaking out because she likes all of them but she's sworn off one night stands and she doesn't want to jeopardize her new job and relationship with her boss' so she freaks out cries a lot leaves the guys confused as all get out and so they try to get her to open up and get to know them better by inviting her to come watch Cairo box and she ends up saving him from being drugged which puts her under the bad guys radar and the bad guy attempts to kidnapp her but fail so they take her back to their den so they can keep her safe and they explain to her that they believe she is their bride and meant to be theirs and then she tells them what she went through when she lived with her old pack and they decide they would show her nothing but pleasure until she believed she could trust them and they show her a good time and they go on like this for a little while and she let's them know she loves them and she agrees to be their bride and they end up mating and then she meets the parents and the cousins and then they're back home she's pregnant bada bing bada boom books over LoL I was so disappointed because I figured if this is a four way book then their has got to be some pretty awesome steamy love making scenes at least!! Nope!! The mating scene was quick and to the point and very dull even after you would think there would be a couple steamy scenes with her and each brother because they do hook up individually they don't always mate together but nope it just goes into a brief run down of what happened and that was it...I know I really can't stand reading a book when every page they're doing it again and again it's so unrealistic but geez this book was no where near being that bad if anything it was severely lacking I had to laugh at the end of the book the author is telling about the next book in the series and it said lots and lots of sex Ha!!! Yeah right if the first book is a teaser to what we have to look forward to in the second no thank you!!! I'll keep my 2.99 so Oh well back to my search wish me luck I'll eventually find something to grab my attention!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!!
Oh. My. Wolf! This one had me hooked from the very start. Alyssa’s journey of self-discovery is inspiring—after a rough past, she’s determined to build her own life, only to meet three swoon-worthy were-hyenas who absolutely refuse to let her go. Dante, Cairo, and Mason are the perfect combination of protective, patient, and undeniably sexy. Their pursuit of Alyssa, while giving her the space she needs to heal, is everything I’ve ever wanted in a romance. The steam? Off the charts! The emotional connection between the four of them is just as scorching as the passion. A beautifully messy, red-hot romance with three heroes to fall for—yes, please!

Lovely to get a happy resolution for Dante, Cairo and Mason after they were so badly treated in a previous book of another series.
A fun read with interesting characters and a decent story to keep the reader interested.
Liked Alyssa due to the fact she turned her life around because she wanting too, not because someone made her.
The interaction between these four main H’s was sweet and I liked how they slowly became a family.
Have owned this book for ages. Previous review from back of book is missing but no hardship to reread.

Tired of her pack treating her like nothing more than a sex toy, Alyssa decides to leave and start fresh somewhere else. And that is how she finds herself in a gym applying for a job. She just did not expect her bosses to be three sexy were hyenas, who got it in their heads that Alyssa is their mate.

An okey story. It was a quick and fun read, but nothing overly special.

Alyssa

I really felt sad about how Alyssa's pack and so called friends treated her. I was glad that she had the gumption to leave and start all over. That wasn't an easy thing to do. Dante, Cairo and Mason were just what she needed. They taught and showed her she was lovable and needed.

It's ok for what it is. The storyline was definitely secondary and the characters were either just ok or could have been a little more fleshed out. For a m/m/f/m book you'd expect there to be more than one m/m/f/m scene, right? Unless I'm totally blanking, there was only one and that's what really made this a 3 versus a 4.

Yes please.

We met the hyena clan in another series and I’m delighted they got their own book. I definitely want to be a clan bride, treated like a precious item all the while being claimed by three hot alphas, yes please. Good storyline, wonderful characters and as always a well written book.

I am conflicted about this book. On one side, I like that the hyenas are portrayed in a good light (finally!) on the other I must say there is no real story here. Sorry, not a fan. Maybe next one?

Every Night Forever was my first hyena shifter book. Overall, I liked it. I'll probably keep reading in the series.

For the first third of the book, I couldn't put it down. The heroine was a reformed slut, and I found that super captivating. Alyssa is a wolf shifter who had been abandoned by her mother at an early age. She has spent her young-adulthood searching for affection wherever she could find it. Unfortunately, the only place she succeeded was in the bedroom, with wolf shifter males who were all too happy to use her for her body during the full moon madness. The rest of the time, though, they barely acknowledged her existence.

Tired of this lifestyle, Alyssa becomes a rogue wolf, leaving the pack and moving to a new town. She finds work at a gym run by three brothers who happen to be drool-worthy hyena shifters.

I wasn't sure about the whole hyena thing. I kept thinking of the cackling lackeys of the villain in The Lion King. Not sexy. But R.E. Butler presented Dante, Cairo, and Mason in such a way that their sexiness and sweetness was front and cetner. All the guys had individual personalities, and they were all devoted to winning Alyssa's trust.

The first third of the book had excellent tension. Alyssa was instantly attracted to her new bosses, but she refused to be led into the bedroom by any of them. Not only has she left a lifestyle of meaningless sex behind, but she refuses do do anything to come between the brothers.

Then she learns that hyena shifters share a bride.

She begins to have a slowly-blossoming relationship with them. The beginning of the relationship captivated me. Scarred by borderline abusive behavior from her former packmates, she has issues of self worth. The hyena brothers understand and woo her slowly, showing her that they want to please her without expecting anything in return.

Once Alyssa begins to trust them, the romantic tension fell for me. The rest of the romantic plot revolved around her minor concern that her new mates' parents and community wouldn't like her because she is a wolf. This source of tension wasn't as spellbinding as the earlier tension, so the second 2/3 of the book didn't work quite as well for me.

The external (non-romance) plot was good. Butler set up a dangerous world of underground boxing in which Cairo, the middle brother, was involved. There is great mystery surrounding Cairo getting drugged before a match. This tension was good, but it resolved by the 3/4 mark of the book. The last quarter was slow-paced wrap-up focusing on Alyssa's assimilation into the hyena boro (like a wolf pack).

On a technical note, the writing wasn't as tight as it could have been. I found myself wishing for a red pen so I could make editing notes. The writing was proficient and showed good talent. It just didn't blow me away. There were many instances of unnecessary phrases and extra words that could easily be trimmed. Also, in a few places, the choreography could have used a bit more care, especially during scene beginnings and transitions within scenes when new things happened. But heck, there were four main characters. Anyone would have occasional difficulty with choreography.

The book had a spice level that left me satisfied. The only thing that occasionally hung me up was Alyssa's use of the phrase "ate me out" describing oral sex. This phrase popped up a few times and always threw me out of the tenderness of the scenes as the brothers took such gentle care of her.

Overall, this was a good read, and I will continue the series, but I'm hoping to see the author improve as far as maintaining tension throughout and tightening her writing.

~3.5~

Every night forever is first book in R.E.'s new series Hyena Heat & I gotta say it deliver what I expected steamy hot sexy scenes, some territorial mates (which are too hot to handle!),some  uber sweet romance with a wee bit action thrown in.

I enjoyed it & for the most part like the characters. I had a bit of hang up about Dante, Cairo & Manson to start with, because they were kinda the bad guys in the wolfs mate 4 but I quickly got over it and realized they were total sweeties! Alyssa was kinda, a little insecure but strong & very likable..well most of the time, at some points I just wanted to shake her and say get over it.. A bit bitchy I know especially since she had a hard childhood & also a pretty shit time in her pack being used as a sex toy, but she was just that little bit melodramatic which really annoyed me.

It wasn't a too in depth read, light on romance, light on emotions & light on sex.. So all in a nice quick summer read.

Which I'd defiantly recommend.

I'm not a huge fan of this book. I guess there was a little bit of drama but not much. It was pretty predictable. I was curious about the ménage thing going on there. But I'm pretty sure when she went into that scene it only happened once. I was hoping she would switch it up but it never happed. This book was m/f/m/m, absolutely no m/m. The one thing I was curious about was the sleeping arrangement. So the unlucky one had to sleep by himself pretty much, did they switch it up every night? How was there no jealousy? I just know I can get territorial so I couldn't imagine sharing with my sister. I had just read a book before this one which was m/f/m which was my first and this one was my second. I'm not a fan of the four-some. I can see how the three-some will work in books but not four.
Also it was a little confusing at times, I wasn't sure who she was talking about at times. Sometimes it was say "he thought this or that was going to happen" and I would go back to see where each of the characters were at in the book to narrow the options down.

Summary
Good but not great trashy fun. Worth the price paid and good enough I'd buy another book in the series.

Tingle Factor
Minor. I would expect more heat from a foursome. It almost seemed like the author was afraid to really up the temperature so she played it safely romantic.

Romance
More romantic than erotic. A little cheesy at times.

Drama
Negligible intrigue from a low life competitor.

Heroine
Alyssa realizes she's on a bad personal path and is able to change her life despite the obstacles. She packs up her life, leaves her unhealthy friends, and starts over. You go girl!

Heroes
Three hot hyena men looking for the one woman right for all of them. They own a gym and one does a little boxing in his spare time. I would totally be willing to go down to their den with them for the winter.
