Never trust a Serian. These are the words half-breed Anara lives by. To escape certain death and claim her freedom, Anara needs to escape Seria. On her way to Earth, she overcomes many obstacles but one Serian becomes the biggest one of all. Ryder tempts her like no other, but she can never give in to her desires...not after his father had callously murdered her parents and hunted her down like prey. Her only option is to keep running, but how can she evade someone who is able to track her every move?

After meeting beautiful and independent Anara, Ryder's mission to capture the half-breed becomes more difficult than he ever expected. He has never let temptation alter his sense of duty, but his connection to Anara is too strong to deny. On Seria, a union between them would be punishable by execution, without exception, especially when his father is the one dealing out the punishments.

Together they must go up against the will of a sadistic ruler and trust in the ties that bind to fight for their lives and find ultimate fulfillment.

Anara is a half-breed on Seria, which means she is a slave. But she has plans on escaping Seria and getting to Earth someway. Then she runs into Ryder. Ryder is the son of the man that killed her parents so she has reason to be fearful. But it is not Ryder who she should worry about.

A little on the short side so I went with novella. I really liked it but I felt it could have been better if the story was fleshed out a little more. Also, it felt like the author was setting this up for more books to make this a series but I see nothing to indicate that more books are pending. I will check out more by this author.

What can I say about this book but wow. This is the first book in what I'm hoping is a series because there are some secondary characters that are screaming for their story to be told.

If your after a book that takes you away from reality for a while, then this is it. Set in a distant planet called Seria, it starts with part human/Serian slave Anara plotting her escape to earth to find the family she thought she lost.

But a chance encounter with a full blooded Serian changes everything, even if they don't know it at the time. The Serian she bumps into is the son of the man who killed her parents and unbeknownst to both of them, about to become a pawn in his fathers game.

But can they come together and defeat the evil commander's plans or will other factions keep them apart and destroy the new bond they have found ?

With action, drama, humour, hot sex and hotter men, this is a book to grab and enjoy. Once I started it, I had trouble putting it down.

I liked it and have re-read when I wanted a like read. There is the "fated mate" trope but the author dealt with it in a manner that fit into the story and overall has me inclined to read more if she continues this into a series. Anara was a little flat but the depth of Ryder made up for it.

update: just re-read and still enjoying it :)

2.5 stars. This book was good, but it could have been soooo much better with more content to it. A good, quick and easy read but I would have liked more to the story.

Hoping for more books

I loved the story. Very intriguing characters and interesting world full of possibilities. While this is a story in itself there definitely is lead into another. Hope to see more in this series.
