The Life and Prayers series combines professionally researched and written biographies of iconic Christian figures with an anthology of prayers.
One part biography, one part prayer book, The Life and Prayers of Saint Teresa of Avila is an essential book for any Christian. It is the eleventh book in this wonderful series.
Today, St Teresa continues to point the way from outer turmoil to inner peace for Catholics throughout the world.
Above all, she is renowned for her mystical theology through books such as Life, The Foundations, The Way of Perfection and Interior Castle. Over 400 of her letters remain, together with Spiritual Testimonies, Soliloquies, Meditations on the Song of Songs and an assortment of poetry.
Argh! Why, why would you take the life & writings of an articulate, passionate women & water them down to she went here & studied, then she went there & founded a covenant? Why water down her writings to a few sappy words & ignore her writings about women in religious life & her passionate exchanges with John de la Croix?
I realize that this is only 75 pages but honestly. Bleah!
What a life devoted to Christ. Always helping and praying for others. A very selfless life. Even at that time she was a great business women. Definitely worth reading.
