St. James Security #3

Collateral Damage: St. James Security Book 3

Rate this book
The explosive conclusion to the St. James Security Series…

Luke
When Bethany was hired at St. James Security, I knew I needed to make her mine. But that was easier said than done because of Ike, Bethany’s brother, who just so happens to also be my boss. If Ike were to find out about my feelings for his sister, he’d end me. Eventually, though, I threw caution to the wind and let my need for her overrule my common sense. I don’t regret it, as the heat between us turned scorching hot in a hurry. Then the unthinkable happened.

I liked reading ‘Collateral Damage’ by Stacy Kristen. I wouldn’t say ‘Collateral Damage’ is my favorite novel by her, but I don’t hate the novel. I loved getting to read about all of the main characters of that St. James Security series in this novel and getting a look into their lives from another perspective. I also thought the multiple points of view was really clever and added a lot to the story. The only thing is that I wish that where was more to the novel. To me it felt like it went from 0-100 very fast. Which makes sense since this is a fairly short read but still, I wish there was more. That being said the overall plot of the story was really nice I loved the ending and loved the epilogue even more. I definitely recommend!

May be spoilers:

I love that Luke and Bethany hook up even though her big brother Ike is very protective and happens to be Luke’s boss. The couple finds a way to be together. Unfortunately, the Irish Mafia has other plans for Bethany and she suffers abuse. After Bethany’s ordeal, Luke is very supportive and helps her to heal and rebuild their relationship.

This is a steamy erotic romance, suspenseful with dark elements, and HEA. This is darker than the first two books in the series.

I received an ARC for an honest review. For me, part of the story was too dark for my comfort zone. Again, I like Luke and Bethany as a couple!

I loved the conclusion to the St James Security series! The book moves quickly, but it kept me enthralled and wanting to keep reading. I loved Bethany and Luke! It was a new perspective that they were already in a healthy relationship and there wasn’t a big breakup 3/4 of the way through. Their love for each other was out of this world!

The third installation of Stacy Kristen’s St. James Security series is a nail biter like its predecessors, but it is definitely more intense and takes a darker turn. Readers are well advised to heed the author’s trigger warning.

Bethany, the office assistant at SJS, is kidnapped by a group known as the Irish Mafia. The situation is scary and raw, and the tension kept me on edge, but I found myself wishing Bethany’s emotions were explored in greater depth as the ordeal unfolded. Also (SPOILER ALERT!), while her feelings toward her captor were justifiably complex, Aiden protected her life with his own and they were both forced into unwanted but nonetheless intimate situations (simulated, both consensual and non-consensual). I expected after all the trauma, she would’ve experienced Stockholm syndrome at the very least, or developed genuine feelings for him at the most, creating direct conflict with her relationship with bf Luke (I’m Team Aiden btw).

Overall, I enjoyed this page-turner. If you’re looking for an adult summer steamer that pushes both buttons and boundaries while ultimately delivering an HEA, the latest in the St. James Security series is a worthy addition to your book tote.

If you are looking for a fast paced, thrilling, gut wrenching read, then this book is for you. This is a semi-mafia romance, with the St. James Security protecting those from unsavory characters.

Luke & Beth’s story began quickly, them sneaking around because her brother is Luke’s boss. This is the last in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone. The Irish mafia is out for revenge after things that occurred earlier in the series and Beth is the casualty.

Luke & Beth’s relationship is oh-so-swoony and Hot, Hot, Hot! His devotion and determination to find Beth was everything and going through Beth’s ordeal was heartbreaking. And then when he finds her and the patience and gentleness he shows as she heals from the ordeal… swoon!

Please read TW because there are some dark elements in the story (schmex tr*fficking.).

This book had me RIVETED! WOW! It had everything—passion, romance, suspense, action—you name it! It had it all. Stacy Kristen never disappoints and this book is no exception. All I have to say is that Bethany needs to be wearing an S on her shirt because she IS Superwoman and Luke? What woman in the world would NOT want him to be her man. This story was so good and it kept me hooked from the first page to the last. Do yourself a favor and give this a read. You will not be disappointed!

Collateral Damage is the 3rd book in the St. James Security series. The story was as great, intense, suspenseful, and a really good emotional ride. The characters were intense, charming, and likable. I enjoyed this romance.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
