When all is lost, he will have to make the ultimate decision.
Kellen St. James was just your average seventeen-year-old prodigy, until he eighty-sixed the Lord of Faerie and proposed to the Celtic Goddess, Calienta. But then everything in Kellen’s life gets turned upside-down when he and Cali end up on the run from a seriously irritated group of faeries. The worst part? They have zero idea why they’re being hunted.
Suddenly, Kellen is stuck in the middle of another prophecy that foresees him turning away from Calienta and embracing the dark. He’ll be forced to take sides in a struggle to claim his birthright, while discovering secrets about his father’s past. Meanwhile, his passion for Cali grows stronger, even as the prophecy threatens to tear them apart.
In the end, will Kellen and Cali survive the fates? When the ultimate power is within reach, which side will he choose?

With a book summary that suggests secrets and struggles, The Fallen Stars opens with things going awry when Kellen is about to have his most cherished moment with Calienta. Will Kellen make the right choice to honor his heritage?
To be honest, I wasn’t too fond of the first half of the story. Most of the crucial details about the prophecy weren’t revealed till much later in the book and I felt like not much was going on in the first portion. But when secrets were gradually revealed in the latter half of the book, I found myself turning the pages faster and faster, eager to learn more about the secrets among Kellen’s family members. What I liked about Kellen was his desire to protect those whom he cared and loved. He might not have a perfect personality but he definitely wasn’t weak or helpless. Cali seemed uncertain about what she could do at the beginning but as she got a better understanding about how things were heading, she became determined to fight against the negative circumstances. It’s interesting to see her transformation. New characters were introduced and I was surprised/ excited about their hidden agenda. I really couldn’t tell who could be a friend or foe to Kellen and Cali till the last page. Things seemed a little confusing at the end as I felt I didn’t receive enough answers to explain why and how a missing character would show up and be reunited with Kellen. I guess I’ll have to read the third book to find out more.
Although I liked the plot of the first book better than this installment, I still enjoyed the character development of both Kellen and Cali in this story. I just hope they’d find their ways back to one another in the next book.
Even though I haven’t read the first book in this series, “The Fallen Stars” was not hard to follow. This imaginative, adventurous fantasy was an interesting read.
Thank you to Goodread giveaway for sending me the Kindle edition.
To be honest, my love affair with the world of Faerie began when I read The Star Child (the first book in this series). What's not to love when Stephanie Keyes is leading you through fantastic adventures with her rich storytelling that starts on the first page and continues to the last sentence! You'll immediately become invested in the lives and the fates of Kellen, Cali, and Gabe. The heart-stopping action, the lush locations, and the weak-in-the knees romance will leave you breathless and wanting more of this magickally told tale.
Firstly I’d like to thank the author for sending me an e-copy of this book for her book tour.
I really enjoyed The Star Child and as always I felt a little bit concerned that the second book might not live up to my expectations – clearly I shouldn’t have worried because somehow The Fallen Stars managed to exceed all my expectations, it was fantastic!
The prologue hinted at more trouble for Kellen and Calienta, I was excited to see where this would take them so I quickly moved on to the first chapter and it seemed that there was a wedding about to take place. This was a lovely way to start the story but when it suddenly turned into a dangerous situation I knew that the adventure had begun! In no time at all I fell back into the storyline aided by gentle reminders of what had happened previously.
This time the story was predominantly set in the real world with the young couple, and Kellen’s friend Gabe, on the run and afraid of what the future held. With the second part of the prophecy hanging over their heads and magic weaving through their every move, they attempted to go into hiding.
There was lots of tension, firstly between Kellen and Gabe (something that intrigued me immensely) and also between Kellen and Calienta (but that was a different kind of tension altogether). Their relationship was much more intense this time and so wonderfully written to be exciting yet complex – this author really knows how to write a good kissing scene so watch out for those! The introduction of William complicated everything further and this was a twist that I particularly enjoyed.
Throughout the book the subject of trust was highlighted, Kellen and Calienta just didn’t know who to trust and I have to admit that I struggled with this too – I’m normally quite good at guessing who the bad guys are but I was stumped.
Towards the end I was pleased to discover lots of interesting new facts about Kellen, some of which were rather surprising. It led nicely to the ending which totally left me wanting more and hints at an amazing adventure in the next book – I can’t wait!!
This was a compelling and imaginative read that reeled me in and wouldn’t let go. Another hit for Stephanie Keyes!
I received an ARC of this book and read it in two days. I couldn't put it down. The Fallen Stars takes the reader beyond The Star Child and delves into the romance behind Kellen and Cali's relationship. A must-read for 2013. Readers who enjoyed books like Twilight, Beautiful Creatures, and Need will probably really enjoy this book.
1) The most dramatic wedding scene since Lorna Doone. (I’d rank Jane Eyre’s wedding fail in third place.) 2) And that’s just the first chapter. 3) Twists, turns, switches and shocks that kept me breathless. 4) A goddess forced to learn how to function as a mortal? Yes! 5) Sweet, true romantic tension? Yes!
All in all—I enjoyed it even more than the first book in the series.
Note: Why no stars? My rule is no stars for living authors—because 5 levels of goodness doesn't give me enough play for a lifetime of reading.
definitely better than the first one, which is saying something because i loved that one too. The Fallen Stars seemed to make more sense than Star Child, even though it seemed to have more plot twists. there was a blooper on page 460, i think. it repeated the same thing it had said on 459. something about the amulet. anyway, awesome book. can't wait for the third
The Fallen Stars, the second book in The Star Child series releases April 23rd, 2021. This time Kellen and Cali are on the run in the mortal world. Joined by Kellen's best friend Gabe, they go into hiding only to discover that there are Faeries in Maine, too...
The driverless car came to an abrupt, shuddering halt on the circular drive in the barren courtyard at Leeds. Three buildings stood on the tiny island that was Leeds, and a well-manicured lawn stretched out before us. I opened the car door and stepped outside.
It was after six p.m., and though it was the perfect time for a wedding—a Saturday in October—the place was deserted. But something I’d learned from my time in Faerie? Looks were deceiving.
The silence suffocated me. No sounds pierced the night, not even the call of the occasional bird or cricket. The quiet gave the dramatic setting an even more eerie quality. It reminded me too much of Faerie itself. Goosebumps ran across my skin. My suit hadn’t been made with the changeable British weather in mind, and the October chill seeped through my clothes.
“Are there guards? What about a security system?”
I offered Calienta my hand, which she took as she climbed from the car.
Calienta took two steps ahead of me, seeming to scan the perimeter. “No one can see us. For the time being we are safe, but we can’t stay here.”
Gabe hopped out of the car and bounced up and down in place, reminding me of a fighter before a match. “Okay, wait. This is not Star Wars, it’s Mission Impossible!” Excitement lit his eyes as he helped my grandfather from the vehicle before I had the chance.
“Except we’re not in bodysuits and suspended by a cable fifty feet in the air.” I grinned, almost forgetting Gabe was angry with me.
Gabe apparently didn’t have the same problem. His forehead creased in a way that made me think I’d taken all the fun out of it for him. He glanced away.
“We should get inside.” Calienta took my hand in hers, leading me from the taxi.
“What about the car?”
“Leave it to me.” Calienta waved her free hand, and the cab vanished before my eyes. Probably returned to Mark’s driveway, wherever that was.
Alistair swallowed as though trying to digest dinner in a place that served up insects as its main course.
Gabe, on the other hand, seemed energized, as though he’d been waiting for this moment his entire life. He stalked toward a nearly darkened area of the courtyard. “Let’s try and access the building this way.” He stopped before a plain door. “I’m betting this door isn’t secure. The outside is fortified. Why bother setting an alarm on the interior buildings?”
Alistair raised his eyebrows. Though Gabe so often sounded like a stoner, he’d been hailed as a legal mastermind by his Yale profs and had begun his first term at Harvard Law last month. Not too many people got to see that side of him. I, on the other hand, was all too aware of the power of Gabe’s mind. I once thought I could argue my way into getting the last slice of pizza. Not only did I not win, but I also ended up cleaning the bathroom for a month. I still had no idea how that happened.
“Good idea.” I patted him on the back as I reached for the Swiss Army knife. When I was a kid, I’d gotten good at picking locks. It was more out of boredom than anything else. But before I could unsheathe the knife, the door swung open.
“Coming boys?” Calienta breezed past us and moved into the building.
Gabe smirked, but kept his thoughts to himself. “Whatever you say, C.” Without a backward glance, he followed her inside, dipping his head to avoid smacking it on the doorframe.
Alistair was about to follow when he turned back to me. “So this is what’s been going on with you?”
“Some of it,” I admitted. He needed to hurry up and get inside. The moat should protect us, but I wasn’t sure for how long. This wasn’t the time for a tell-all.
He nodded. “That explains why you didn’t return my calls for so long. Tell me something . . . Calienta . . . do you trust her?”
I remembered Gran holding my hand and urging me to believe in the girl I’d once thought existed only in dreams. “With my life.”
Again, he gave me a curt nod. “Then I shall too.” He turned and walked through the door and I followed, taking care to lock up behind me.
I hope you enjoyed the excerpt. Don't forget to add The Fallen Stars to your TBR today!
This is the second book in The Star Child trilogy (you can see my review of The Star Child here) and it was sent to me to review by Loveahappyending magazine. When I started reading this book, I was worried I wasn't going to remember the idea of the story as it has been a long time since I read the first one and it was an extremely in-depth storyline however after the first chapter I was relieved that the story of Kellen and Calienta just came swimming back to me like no time had passed at all. The Fallen Stars follows on nicely from The Star Child, Kellen St. James and Calentia, our two main characters and soon to be newly weds still aren’t safe from the Children Of Danu just yet. Cana, a C.O.D is out for revenge and Kellen and Cali have been forced to go on the run and into hiding. The worst part is that they have no idea why. With the help of Kellen’s best friend Gabe, Cali’s uncle, Dillion and other unexpected sources, they manage to overcome the obstacles the Children of Danu are throwing at them but Kellen gets stuck in the middle of yet another prophecy, threatening that he will turn evil and move over to the dark side. At the end of this jaw-dropping, tear-jerking and nail-biting story – which side will Kellen chose?
I found myself so completely drawn into this world it was like the pages were possessing me – I literally couldn’t stop reading! This book is written in 2 first person points of view – Kellen and Cali’s and it really worked. I particularly liked some of Cali’s chapters after she becomes mortal because it was really interesting and amusing to see how she reacted to everyday things like sandwiches and door handles that she had no previous knowledge of. I also liked that Kellen’s best friend Gabe plays a bigger part in this book. He was in The Star Child but only briefly and as Kellen’s story hasn’t been easy so far and is only getting worse it was nice that he had his best friend around and Gabe’s character definitely makes a dire situation more light-hearted. Despite the serious plotline however, Stephanie manages to easily introduce some humour into a scene without it feeling out of place and the line that particularly tickled me was, ” I often referred to him as The Turd. The presence of the word the in front of the word turd implied that roger had reached a certain status as a Turd – the highest level possible.”
The character development in these books is exceptional. As well as introducing new characters and referring back to old ones from the previous book, we’re still learning more and more about the current characters and to me, it feels like book #1 The Star Child literally only scratched the surface of what these characters are about. They’re constantly changing, all the time and I think that’s one of the main things that keeps you on the edge of your seat when reading these books – anything could happen! The Fallen Stars was extremely well-paced, nothing was rushed yet nothing was unnecessarily dragged out and despite the length of the book being 500 pages, the story doesn't divert off on any irrelevant sub-plots. Every aspect has its rightful place in the story and it all ties together nicely (and unexpectedly). I can’t fault Stephanie’s passion, ambition and consistency in these books. I have absolutely no idea how she has managed to come up with such an elaborate storyline but it is a truly special and unique idea and because of that she is becoming a prominent figure in Young Adult literature. The Fallen Stars was just as good if not better than The Star Child and I can’t wait to read the third instalment of this trilogy especially considering The Fallen Stars was left on such a cliff-hanger!
The Fallen Stars is the 2nd book in the Star Child series and like book one, its an absolute smash hit! The Fallen stars begins where the first book left off, at Kellen and Calienta's wedding. However, being a Goddess and a Mortal usually means one thing............things are never going to go as planned and the love struck couple are once again propelled into a land of magic, mystery, faerie and uncertainty. They will be left wondering if their love and their very different lives will survive what lies ahead.
Kellen and Calienta once more face enemies with immensely powerful magic. This time they are aided by Gabe, Kellen's best and loyal friend as a battle between good and evil, light and dark sets to rage on not only the mortal world but the faerie world too and a prophecy threatens Kellen and those he loves. Will the prophecy come true and will Kellen turn to the darkness and evil? The time for choosing sides has arrived! But at what cost? Kellen must once again face his demons from the past and reconcile his feelings of grief and loss. Will the lure of all he has dreamt of be enough to tempt him to choosing a different path?
I just thought this book was fantastic! I loved the introduction of some new characters and the reappearance of some original characters from the first book. The story moves along at an even faster pace than the first, barely giving the reader time to catch their breath before being hit with an unexpected twist! I have to say, I did have a few open-mouthed moments and a lot of gasps of surprise at some clever plot twists. Stephanie Keyes has once again created a roller coaster of fantasy that leaves you on the edge of your seat. Although this book is aimed at a YA audience I'd have to recommend it to everyone! I simply could not put it down and had an 'OMG!' moment at the end. I'm not sure how I'll cope waiting for the next instalment in the series!
Kellen St. James (a mortal), his fiancée Calienta (a celtic Goddess) and his mortal friend Gabriel find themselves on the run after being chased by a group of faeries. All three are faced with difficult decisions that will have an impact on the rest of their lives. Will the dark side win?
After having taken part in the Fiction Addiction Book Tours Trailer reveal for the Fallen Stars I just knew that I had to read this book.
I have not had a huge amount of “experience” with fantasy books but was really excited to start reading this one and I was not disappointed. Stephanie has definitely broadened my horizon in regards to fantasy books. I am much more inclined now to read more in this genre :-).
I have not read the first book in this series and found it a bit challenging in the beginning to familiarise myself with the characters. Although the author is very good in giving little reminders of what happened in the previous book, I would advise readers to read the first book before this one. I sometimes wished I would have had more background knowledge about the characters (which I would have had if I read the first book) especially in regards to Kellen and Calienta’s relationship.
Some of the chapters I found slightly long-winded but I was “magically” (no pun intended) drawn in by the book and could not stop reading until I finished it. I especially loved the character development and the created suspense. Until the end I was I guessing which characters could be trusted and which could not. In my opinion, Stephanie has a huge talent for describing the magical scenery, the faeries, warlocks etc. I therefore was able to form clear images in my head. The ending definitely left me wishing for more and I cannot wait for the next installment of this series.
As this is the second book of A Star Child Trilogy, something already happened in the first book - A Star Child... Go and read it...and I will... well, read on...
When Kellen St James fulfilled the first part of the old prophecy into the last detail - refusing the immortal life - written in the coastal cave in Ireland, he thought that all he has to do is to marry his immortal Calienta, a goddess who's parents he saved and earn possibility to become immortal.
But that was not what his 'friends' in the underworld of Faerie had in mind. They crash into their wedding and of course wedding is off. They are on the run again, but Calienta chooses to become mortal anyway...
The second part of the prophecy - the part Calienta (aka Cali) didn't tell Kellen is on it's way... Will Kellen and Cali managed to avoid the inevitable... well, read the book and find out...
The second book starts with a slow pace (at least for me as I read before the After Faerie - a short story what is going on between the books) and afterwards you are thrown in a roller-coaster of actions. As the story is told by two main characters, you must be ready to shift between both of them. One story seen through the two different views...
New characters are well introduced and I'm sure some of them we will see in the third book of A Star Child Trilogy. As for the old characters we already knew from the first book, quite some of them made a great progress in a development.
“Magnificent!” Keyes’ imagination is on fire, and you will be delighted as the story of Kellen St James and Calienta continues in book two of The Star Child series. The story is compelling and the ending is perfect – you are left with a sense of real satisfaction and yet expectation for the final novel to come in this series.
Whilst fantasy is still very much in play, I love the every-day setting as we follow Kellen and Cali whilst they are on the run. The blend between normal life and fantasy is spot-on and serves to accentuate rather than overwhelm the detail of their journey. Is a normal life together just within their grasp? How is it possible that Kellen could possibly turn to the dark side, as the prophecy foretells?
Having been introduced to a very ‘young’ Kellen in The Star Child, his maturity now shines through – although glimpses of the insecurity of youth still linger at times. The passion builds and you find yourself caught up in the emotions of their intense relationship. Superb job Ms Keyes – cannot wait for the final volume in this trilogy!
My rule is no stars for living authors—because 5 levels of goodness doesn't give me enough play to differentiate. If I like or love a book, or if I think others will, I will review it.
I love reading fantasy books and I really enjoyed this one. Very interesting characters and interesting spin on how Kellen and Calienta were destined to be together. I wish I had read the first book , The Star Child, so I knew how all the faeries and gods and goddesses came about. I will definitely be reading the first book. There was alot of action going on sometimes it was a bit much to keep up with everything and who was who. Some typos throughout, nothing major. But a great read none the less.
After reading the first book in this trilogy, I fell in love with the storyline and all the characters within it. Now that I have read the second, I have fallen even deeper in love with it all. The first one was great, this one however, was as good, if not a tiny bit better. I loved every second of it, I was unable to put it down. I was too engrossed in the plot. It was absolutely Wonderful.
Something I enjoyed about it was the familiarity of it all and delving back in from where it left off previously.
The book begins with our two main protagonists waiting eagerly to become married to one another. Unfortunately, the couple will not get this chance as they're wedding is brought to a halt by old enemies, the Children of Danu.
Kellen's best man, and best friend, Gabe, somehow finds himself involved in this as well. In The Star Child, Gabe was more of a background character and only mentioned a few times, but in The Fallen Stars he is brought to the forefront of the story and you get to see a lot more of his personality and his friendship with Kellen. Gabe became my favourite character, and I found him to be very endearing due to his sudden determination to help, although he had only just been bought into the world that Calienta and Kellen are used to and because you can see just how much he cares and is protective over Kellen. Their friendship definitely blossoms throughout this story, as well as his friendship with Calienta.
Also we learn more about the prophecy which bought the adoring couple Kellen and Calienta together and could possibly tear them apart, dependent upon a decision that Kellen must make. Throughout, all you keep thinking is will he or won't he. It was most definitely unnerving to say the least.
I found Calienta and Kellen to be odd, but adorable. Their relationship is so unique and full of faith. When Calienta is forced into becoming mortal, she is faced with the problem of having to learn everything fully from scratch, but Kellen is there to guide her through it. Their love has definitely grown since the first book, and it becomes more intensified as the story progresses.
I really enjoyed the two person perspective in both books, and I am in desperate need to read the third, The Star Catcher, which again will begin from where the story so abruptly left off.
The ending left me wanting more and my emotions were everywhere by the end. Also, a cliffhanger. Why? I didn't want it to end.
I am going to preface this review with the suggestion that you read The Star Child first. You could read The Fallen Stars without but you may be lost on some of the characters and the references that are made throughout the book. Like I said earlier The Fallen Stars picks up right where we left off. Kellen and Calienta are supposed to get married, but unfortunately before the ceremony can finish The C.O.D or Children of Danu show up and threaten Kellen, Calienta, Lugh and Bridget. With the wedding interrupted Cali is forced to take Kellen, herself, Gabe (Kellen’s best friend) and Alistair (Kellen’s Grandfather) into hiding. It doesn’t take long for the C.O.D to find them and they soon come to a conclusion that Cali will give up her Goddess status and Gabe will be in charge of the hideout’s location. While Cali is now adjusting to being a mortal they are all still in danger even when they feel they are safe. They must question everyone who befriends them or tries to speak with them. In the end it’s not the C.O.D who are the real danger it is a foe they have thought was already vanquished. Kellen is forced to choose between good and evil. He must decide where his loyalties lie even after losing everything. But, like all fairy tales things are not what they seem. In the end we are left wondering will Kellen and Cali get their happy ending or will evil forces prevail!
I can’t say enough about this book. I loved this addition to the Star Child series. Stephanie’s ability to pick up Kellen and Calienta’s story from the first book and take us on yet another journey is phenomenal. Even more characters and questions are put before us in this book and I for once can’t wait for the next installment. I have high hopes for Kellen and Cali. Now I also want to know what is going on with Gabe and who is this new big bad. Overall, this is a wonderfully written Young Adult Fantasy book. If you are looking for a good story, awesome characters and a world you could fall into and get lost in then The Star Child and The Fallen Stars are books you want to read ASAP.
When I read book one in this series, The Star Child, I was loving fantasy books at the time and though that was one of the most enjoyable fantasy novels I’d read, I’ve since gone off that kind of novel a little bit. But not one to resist Stephanie Keyes stunning writing, I threw myself into The Fallen Stars and recaptured my love for the fantasy novel. As much as I was a fan of The Star Child, The Fallen Stars was even better and has left me massively looking forward to reading the next in the series.
I was really interested to learn more about Kellen and Calienta – I adored both their characters in The Star Child but here they’re developed even more. Stephanie has a great way with her development of characters in that she gets me to the stage where I don’t think they can be built on anymore and then she completely switches things around and leaves me guessing. Trying to work out who could and couldn’t be trusted was a bit of added charm that made reading this book even more worthwhile. Kellen’s best friend Gabe has also got a much bigger role to play in The Fallen Stars and his characterisation and involvement was delivered in spectacular style.
I could credit Stephanie for her awesome characters all day long but there’s so much else to love here. The plot twists, the unpredictable journey she takes us on – I loved it all but what I enjoyed the most, even though I didn’t want it to come, was the ending. What a brilliant way to finish a book, safe in the knowledge that every single reader of The Fallen Stars will *have* to continue reading this wonderful series. Fast paced and fantastic, this is 500+ pages of writing you’d be crazy to miss.
I expected a little more from this book but I found it to be slow the majority of it. While it is still a great story and it is portrayed wonderfully, I had a problem with the pacing and romance. The Star Child had a pacing that I loved because a lot of stuff kept happening, one after the other, and the romance between Calienta and Kellen was so beautiful. In The Fallen Stars, Cali and Kellen’s journey continues when they are about to get married but Cali’s aunt stops their wedding, wanting Kellen and his “amulet” so the Children of Danu can be free. The Children of Danu were captured by Arawn , who has control of them all. Everyone thinks he was destroyed, but he is very much alive.
Cali, Kellen and Gabe escape to America, trying to stay hidden from Arawn and the Children of Danu but they are found and Kellen is taken away, Gabe gets into a terrible car accident and Cali is mortal, with no powers at all, only with the promise that one power will return when she needs it most.
In this second installment of The Star Child series, the second part of the prophecy is revealed and some very important information of Kellen’s family is revealed that had me aching for a bit.
As mentioned, the first 40% of the book is very slow and dragging but after that 40%, things start escalating and the pace gets picked up, which is when I started reading as fast as I could to know what the ending would bring (another cliff-hanger). Even though, at first not much was happening, I loved how everything came together—the new characters fitting so well in the story—and the new evil forced upon Kellen and Cali was proving to be quite a scare.
If you are looking for a not-so-fast paced book but with a great story, keep reading this series.
After a somewhat halting start in which Calienta, aka Cali, was largely a emotional basket case due to becoming human this book started to pick up steam. As the focus moved from Cali's decision to take on a mortal life and give up her immortality and all that implied and began to focus more on the central conflict of good versus evil and whether the second half of an ancient prophecy would become true it really got interesting.
The three main characters Kellen, Cali and Gabe bring plenty of interesting interaction to the story and the characters, both good and evil they encounter are portrayed with a flare that still leaves them either as good but slightly flawed, or evil but with characteristics you can identify with which is hard for an author to do, yet Keyes manages it perfectly.
The heartrending choice Kellen must face is enough to tug at anyone's heart strings, and while you keep hoping he will do the right thing, you would so understand if he chose the other path as foretold in the prophecy. I'm not going to tell you what the choices are and who all become key players in this saga, but I definitely will encourage you to read it for yourself. It is a fantasy adults, new adults and young adults all can enjoy and its world is quirky and neat, while following a definite set of rules that make it realistic.
I think this was an excellent book once Keyes found her rhythm and it had me eagerly turning pages until the end. I definitely recommend it and encourage you to stay with the slightly whiny, angsty Cali until the book finds its groove. It is worth it.
Kellen St James and Calienta get as far as NEARLY getting married. then all hell breaks loose, again, and they find themselves, along with Gabe Stewart, Kellen's best friend and room mate from college, on the run from Cali's auntie, and lord knows who else. BUT no one is quite sure why! Secrest are revealed, and the plot, as they says, thickens!
I enjoyed this one, MUCH more than book one. its still clean and with minimal violence, so i would still let my 13 yr old read it BUT it flows better, moves faster, and is just in general way, way better!
Kellen learns more about his past, and the Prophecy, and Cali learns a thing or two too. together with Gabe, who is also sporting a few secrets of his own, they try to figure out who wants them and why. it did seem a little slow to start, and i was worried i would struggle with this one, but once it took off, i found it a much easier read, and a much faster read too. If i enjoy a book, i read it, fast, so this is a good thing!
some new allies appear, and old ones are lost. new baddies appear, just as the old one is defeated. Many twists and plot moves in this one, so i would highly recommend it. Also, its not really necessary to have read the first, as much is recpped here in this one, however, to get the full story and feel of Kellen and Cali and what they are facing, i would suggest you do.

Also, its not really necessary to have read the first, as much is recpped here in this one, however, to get the full story and feel of Kellen and Cali and what they are facing, i would suggest you do.

I would like to thank Jenny at Neverland Tours and Stephanie Keyes for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
We catch up with Kellen and Calienta just as they are about to be married, but as with all stories things don’t go to plan and they just manage to escape with their lives.
On the run from with Kellen’s friend Gabe, they are don’t know why they faieries attacked or why they want Kellen, add to the fact that they are not sure who to trust, this makes this second book an excellent read. This time we are travelling from Ireland, to London, to Leeds Castle and on to America.
As with the previous I couldn’t help but like Kellen and Calienta, now shortened to Cali. I really liked Gabe and even though Kellen had kept things from him he was on his side. There were plenty of times in this book when I didn't know who was on the side of light and who wa on the side of darkness.
As with The Star Child Stephanie tells you the story in such detail you feel like you are there, this book is written slightly differently to the first one as it is told from both Kellen and Cali’s POV in different chapters. I loved how the first book was written but this gives you an insight into both of them which adds another side to this book.
I just need to decide now when I can fit book 3 into my reading schedule as I am dying to know the outcome of this story and the prophecies surrounding Kellen and Cali.
I was lucky enough to review The Star Child, the first book in this amazing series and I was thrilled to get the opportunity to review the second. This book continues the story of Kellen and Calienta, two teenagers entangled in a world of ancient prophecies, pissed-off faeries and an ever-growing mutual attraction. I was super excited to read this and I wasn’t disappointed.
The characters are rich and relatable, while Keyes continues their development from The Star Child with effortless ease. I enjoyed meeting Kellen and Cali again: it can only be described as having some old friends welcome you with open arms. The book draws you straight into the plot and it’s extremely enjoyable to read about two such wonderful characters in new and challenging environments. The love story between Kellen and Cali is engaging; you root for them from the very beginning and hope they can overcome the obstacles presented to them in the book. Fallen Stars serves as a great sequel to The Star Child and is a brilliant continuation of the story, bringing back characters you know and love while introducing some new ones too. I laughed and cried in equal measure, what a book!
Magic, mystery and a lot of heartbreak are the order of the day in The Fallen Stars.
Stephanie Keyes returns readers to the Star Child series at a crucial point in Kellen and Calienta’s lives and I welcomed back the characters as they were pushed to the brink. Things go wrong almost immediately; the action kicks in and the mystery levels crank up a notch as we discover a previous battle still, in fact, rages on.
With the basis of the story beginning to form, I wholeheartedly plunged myself back into the book and enjoyed being reminded of key elements and story lines. Emotions run high throughout and a sense of foreboding cloaks the pages as you read on and on. Lots of details are weaved in and I was very pleasantly surprised to discover the answers to some of the series’ central mysteries.
However, I was disappointed to have the book end on a question mark. But only because I was enjoying myself and wanted to carry on reading!
Like the star child I feel this book was ok! It's the same for me I don't feel much for the characters and even though the book is well written the story isn't really for me. I found it over whelming and un clear at times. There are a lot characters in the books and I prefer to be able to connect with only a few! A great baddie though and I liked the cliff hanger
The second book in the Star Child series is a strong follow up which doesn't disappoint even for a second. Kellan, Calienta, and Gabe kept me reading from the first page as they dragged me through a world I recognized but was continually surprised by. I laughed, gasped, and even cried as they took me along on their journey. I’m not sure that I’m ready for it to all end in the next installment yet I can’t stop myself from moving on to know what’s in store next.
