I like Peel's approach to managing a home and family. As a quote from the back cover says, "In the Family Manager, Kathy Peel not only gives your demanding job a new title, she shows you how to use the same skills and strategies that successful business managers use. The Family Manager system isn't about working harder. It's about working smarter -- delegating, team-building, simplifying -- so you'll have more time to do the things that...are important to you."
The edition I have was published in 1996, so a few things related to technology in the home might need to be updated. However, the overall way of thinking that Ms. Peel teaches is timeless.
I think with any books about home and family, it's best not to try to copy the suggestions slavishly, but for the reader to adapt them to her family and her values. Since Peel teaches not only the practicals but a way of thinking about family management, her system is very adaptable.
I think that women who work outside the home, women who run a business from home and women who make home and family their career can all benefit from reading "The Family Manaer."
