Visibly Struck , an award-winning novel based on the true experiences of George Washington and his faith in the invisible hand of God, is an impactful and poignant story of faith, healing, and the unmistakable power of God.
Is God proactively involved in the affairs of man? Not according to Spitz. Sixteen years ago he tragically lost his only son and daughter-in-law in a fiery plane crash. Mired in grief and bitterness towards God, Spitz took early retirement to raise his granddaughter, Aspen. Seeking to prove his case against God, Spitz discovers George Washington's assertion that God favorably intervened in the formation of the United States. Enraged, Spitz dares God to answer the charge that He is not lovingly proactive in our lives. Providentially, Spitz suffers a stroke. While lying in a coma, he is mysteriously transported in time to witness and record the signs, mercies, and favorable interventions of God that George Washington experienced.
As Spitz fights for his life both in the past and present, Aspen, an attractive and successful commodities analyst, must also come to terms on where and how God is directing her, especially when it concerns her new business associate. Without her Papa by her side, will Aspen choose to confront the hard truth of the past and allow for love?
Spitz's inspiring journey blends faith, fact, and fiction, yielding a surprising perspective of the forces that shaped George Washington's life and destiny. The scope of the factual evidence Spitz gathers is enlightening and heart changing, subtly stirring the Is God lovingly proactive in my life, too?

"I solemnly swear to faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Then George Washington reverently followed with the impromptu four additional words, "So help me God." Leaning over as he spoke these last words, Washington kissed the Bible.

George Washington believed the invisible hand of God was prevalent in the founding of these great United States. After reading this book and some of the footnoting, I don't see how anyone could disagree. This book is historical fiction based on Washington's papers, but the historical scenes are heavily footnoted. Some amazing things happened - and were prevented from happening! - that guided these United States to its founding and will strengthen the faith of American Believers. It did mine. Outstanding book. I didn't want it to end.

Steve put a great deal into this. It deserves better than a five star rating. More than fiction could ever be without the truth of history.
