Listed by DPL as a recommended read for Downton Abbey fans, I was easily drawn to the homes of the English countryside. Some of those featured date back into the 1500s with lots of Gothic, Tudor, Elizabethan, Jacobean, Restoration, William and Mary, Queen Anne, and Georgian stylings to explore from the casual to the chic. The family chapter photos feature all the "kids", the furry kind that is. Enjoy with a nice cup of tea!

This is fantastic. It's exactly what it advertises itself to be, and it is done phenomenally well. There are more photos than text (a plus), and the two types of sections (individual house vs theme) are interspersed so as to never leave one feeling dull. This is the first time I've read a "coffee table book" cover to cover, but if they're all like this, I need to read a ton more!
