Listed by DPL as a recommended read for Downton Abbey fans, I was easily drawn to the homes of the English countryside. Some of those featured date back into the 1500s with lots of Gothic, Tudor, Elizabethan, Jacobean, Restoration, William and Mary, Queen Anne, and Georgian stylings to explore from the casual to the chic. The family chapter photos feature all the "kids", the furry kind that is. Enjoy with a nice cup of tea!

A pleasure to read--very informative and enjoyable. Great pictures as well. I've owned this book for years and just now got around to reading it.
