The last thing Dr Megan Phillips did before leaving St Piran's was to save the lives of tiny twins: the babies of the man she loved – with whom a future was impossible. Now Megan's back, turning single father Josh O'Hara's world on its head…again! But is forgiveness really possible? Will St Piran's ever really see the wedding they've been waiting for?
I was born and raised in Dunedin, New Zealand, but had my first year of school in London, UK and the second in Washington DC. I became a primary school teacher and began writing when I was living in Glasgow, Scotland for two years and teachers were all on strike. My first novel was a medical thriller with a good dash of romance thrown in. I have now written well over a hundred romance novels with more than a dash of medicine thrown in. I love weaving the emotional journey of a love story through the background drama the medical world can provide. I also love the rabbit holes I can go down in the name of research. Above all, I love romance. And a happy ending!
There are SO many levels of wrong in this one, I hardly know where to start.
When h was a shy, first year medical student, the giant manwhore H, a doctor working at the same hospital, pumped and dumped her. h got pregnant as a result of their ONS but miscarried, in a traumatic incident that had her end up in emergency care. H was assigned to her life-saving surgery. Heroine survived but is now unable to have children. Years later, it is the heroine who apologizes to hero for”letting herself get pregnant” then not telling him about her pregnancy.

Fast forward several years: H and h have another affair, while H is separated from his wife. He tells h he never loved his wife, he just married her out of loneliness, and their divorce is being finalized. He tells the heroine that this time around, he is genuinely falling in love with her and they have something real.
BUT...he dumps the heroine AGAIN! And goes back to his wife, because she is pregnant!!!!! With twins no less…
As she is about to give birth, hero’s wife is rushed to the hospital with complications and the H asks the h to operate and do everything she can for the babies. Twin babies survive but their mother dies on the operating table, despite heroine’s efforts to save her.
The h leaves the hospital to join Doctors Without Borders
The H is angry with the h for years because she did not show up to his wife’s funeral and left him to deal with being a single father.
Two years later, the heroine returns from Africa to resume her job at the H’s hospital. Once again, she is the one who acts contrite, actually asking HIM not to hate her for what SHE's done.

This author should have been a scriptwriter on the Jerry Springer show.
------------ I couldn't wait to read this book, but I didn't like much. He never explains why he had sex with his ex-wife and got her pregnant, despite supposedly their marriage is over and be relationship with heroin. :( And yet he blame her for having gone to Africa after saving the lives of babies that his ex-wife gave birth prematurely. The "poor guy" felt abandoned and how are the feelings of our heroine? He disappoints her for the second time and even more that she can't have any more children due to loss of their baby years before. Don't buy the story. I gave it 2 stars for being one of my favorite series, but actually didn't deserve any.

2.5* only because while it was 5* in getting me riled and worked up, it came with a 1* H. I first read about this couple in "The Wedding of the Year", book 1 of the series and went looking for their story. I was pretty confused because I thought this would be a continuation of what was clearly going to be a 2nd chance romance. It took me a while to figure out that that this is actually a 3rd chance, their meeting in the first book being 2 years previous followed by a separation. That mystery answered, this was set up for super angsty read, with infertility and losing a child giving extra pathos. It turned out to be rage inducing. A lot of excusing the H's past behaviour was just bile inducing. He calls himself an emotional coward, frankly that was the least of it, he was letting himself off lightly making excuses to explain his behavior. What got me was, while I liked the heroine, she was a ninny to put it politely and she frustrated me with her internalising but non of that is directed at the H. If only she had one decent rant at him, I'd not be ranting here in my review. He needed to grovel, crawl, feel the pain in his attempt to get with her. None of that happened. The heroine, she's been used, dumped and used and dumped TWICE but she thinks she let him down when he needed her. Give me a break!
Alison Roberts has a lovely writing style that got me hooked from the very beginning. the characters and their conflicts are very real. This romance is a fast paced, interesting, emotionally angsty read and I highly recommend it. I will definitely be looking out for more of her books.
Am sorry but this doesn't deserve any rating from me. I literally read this novel with my blood boiling. Sometimes readers will like a heroine with backbones, a no mess with me heroine. Heroine that doesn't take sh$t from the hero.
This is part of a continuing saga of St Piran's hospital. I believe the last one. This is about Megan and Josh, both doctors. They have a past that tore them apart. He married some one else. His marriage was not ideal. They were just getting back together when his wife states that she is pregnant. She leaves him. In the first part of the book she helps save his twins. But his wife died, no Morgan was not involved with that part. She was a pediatric doctor. But she leaves anyways. Now it is several years later and she is back to close her grandmother place. She ends up helping Josh with his twins. This is a Harlequin story line, so it goes to show there was not the angst that could of gone here. Not a situation that I could wrap my imagination around without more anger from her. So the lower score. Alison Roberts the author made Megan seem weak in mind over Josh. Not a good thing for such a strong woman.
Can this be the same author who wrote the fabulous ‘Proud Italian’ from the 200 Harley St series? The one with Rafael and Abby and gorgeous Ella? The one I have read several times because I like it so much? I’m afraid it is.
The author is a really good writer, but I’m afraid this was a hot mess and incredibly disappointing.
Josh treats Megan deplorably - not just once - but twice and she just forgives him, takes the blame and he never grovels.
The whole ‘getting the wife he was about to divorce pregnant’ just made me want to vomit.
This wasn’t a romance- it was a soap opera. It won’t stop me reading this author but I am so sad about this one.
This one packed an emotional wallop as we get the ending to the story of Megan and a Josh. Part of this story developed over the St. Pirans miniseries. We now jump two years forward and get closure for this start crossed couple. Their journey is not an easy one and there was some souls searching before they get their HEA
