Join Gulliver as he sails from the land of the tiny six-inch people called Lilliputians and the land of the giant people called Brobdingnagians, to the land of the Houyhnhnms- where wise and understanding horses tame herds of wild Yahoos, creatures that are strangely human!
I've delved into just two stories from "Gulliver's Travels": the adventure with the Lilliputians and the captivating tale of Gulliver's encounter with a city inhabited by giants. The simplicity of the narrative drew me in, painting vivid images of these fantastical realms.
The story where Gulliver finds himself in a city inhabited by towering civilians larger than himself is particularly enthralling. The straightforward yet descriptive language used by Jonathan Swift made the tale engaging, allowing me to envision these fictional places with clarity.
I was captivated by how Gulliver, initially a stranger in this land, was embraced and cared for by its inhabitants. Over time, he not only adapted to their customs but also learned their language, forging meaningful connections with them. This journey of assimilation and understanding amidst the unfamiliar was deeply compelling.
However, the story also conveys the challenges Gulliver faced on his quest to return home. Despite the warmth and hospitality he experienced, his longing for home persisted. His eventual escape, after enduring numerous hardships, resonated deeply with me. It underscored the resilience and determination required to navigate through unfamiliar territories and overcome adversity.
In sum, these stories from "Gulliver's Travels" left a lasting impression on me. They blended imaginative storytelling with insightful reflections on human nature and the complexities of cultural exchange. Swift’s ability to craft such engaging narratives with simple yet powerful prose is a testament to the enduring appeal of this classic work.

Gulliver’s Travels is about a man that traveled to strange and interesting places. The book itself is short but is an interesting read. It’s perfect for a book project (but it cut out some parts from the original book which may or may not be important later on). Gulliver went to different lands and saw many interesting things (tiny people who fight over eggs, intelligent horses and ,etc) and then he document these experiences in the book. The style of the book is more akin of a graphic novel and it doesn’t have text boxes like normal graphic novels.
The book also describe how these made up societies work and function and it also plays out like a journal describing Gulliver’s travels. The book is a satire that makes fun of english politicians in the early 1700s. Gulliver traveled to 5 different places in the book, each stranger and more interesting from the last. One of the strange discoveries is the Lilliputians which are as big as a insect and are in a war involving eggs. Another is a island of intelligent horses called “Houyhnhnms” and hairy man-beasts called “Yahoos”. What i like about the book is that it’s nicely stylized and well laid out. Overall i think this is a good read since it’s nice and short for a quick read.
The three stars I gave this has nothing to do with it being a graphic novel and everything to do with the plot. I’m not a big ‘adventure story’ person. I just don’t understand the need to have an adventure, escape with your life, and then fail to ignore the supposed urge you have to do it all over again.
Surprised that this book is still so funny, decades after publication. The last 80 pgs drag and yet, I actually laughed during it. Was a fantastic workplace-book :)

Oh, I loved this book as a kid! I used to check it out so often, the school librarian gifted me the copy and replaced it. I’ll always be grateful for her kindness! :))
