Timeless Classics--designed for the struggling reader and adapted to retain the integrity of the original classic. These classic novels will grab a student's attention from the first page. Audiobook for each title is paced for students to follow the text word-for-word and include two audio CDs--more help for struggling readers. Books sold separately. Silly Mrs. Bennet is "husband hunting" for her five daughters. Heaven knows it isn't easy! Darcy would make a great match for Elizabeth- if it weren't for his false pride and her stubborn prejudice. And the other girls aren't cooperating either. Jane is too shy to show affection, and Lydia has run off with an unsuitable army officer! What's a poor mother to do?
Emily Hutchinson is a brilliant narrator! Absolutely perfect for Pride and Prejudice. Colourful characters, perfect accents, engaging story lines - only more fascinating with Emily reading one of my all time favourites.
I always have varying favorite scenes in P&P (though some of the iconic ones are iconic for a reason), but my favorite in this audiobook iteration has to be the conversation that took place between Lizzie and Lady Catherine. Just the delivery alone on Catherine, "ARE THE SHADES OF PEMBERLEY THUS TO BE POLLUTED?!" My gawd, the drama, the angst! Classic
I listened to the Apple version narrated by Kate Beckinsale. I attempted to read the book version and really struggled, so I’m very glad I switched to the audiobook. I checked in with a girlfriend occasionally to help me process and understand what was going on. I’ve always loved Bridget Jones’ Diary; I knew it was based off this classic. Loved the back and forth between Darcy and Elizabeth. Now to watch the BBC version!
I actually listened to the Librivox recording on YouTube. Very pleasant and funny. Much more light-hearted than Persuasion and Mansfield Park, which I enjoyed so much over the winter. I had not read any Jane Austen in a very long time. There is always more to discover with each rereading of her satisfying novels.
A bit hard to follow just because I was distracted occasionally but I did love the narration to it and she made it more enjoyable to listen to it! I’ll definitely listen to it again another time! And the movies still hold a special place in my heart!☺️
five out of five,,, no words, a masterpiece, but I’m biased so…
This was my first time reading P&P through audiobook and I really loved it! I listened to the version narrated by Kate Redding and found her adaptation absolutely delightful!
First time trying audiobook at first it was quite confusing however It got better and better as the story progressed! Love Kate Beckinsale narrative and I also love Jane Austen books ❤️💕
Excellent yarn, read beautifully with wonderful character voices, and Austin's commentary on social patterns are woven clearly and subtely into the story and not lectured. Glad to do it as audio book as I wouldn't have finished it by reading.
