Safe Haven: Reese

Safe Haven

The name of the bar pretty much said it for me. Safe Haven was just that. It had been my safe place when I had needed it the most. I ran away when I was 16 to get away from my supposed life of privilege. Let me tell you, money does not buy happiness. For me it has only left the scars on my soul.

But five years after running away my grandfather has finally found me...And little did I know that his finding me really has lead me to my true Safe Haven.

I will start this by saying I am a huge fan of this author. So that being said after seeing that this book was available from this author & was on sale I had to get it. I new she was a good writer but wow this book takes it to another level. There are some really hard issue that are dealt with in this book and you will find that you are rooting for the main characters in this book over and over again. You see a girl who became a woman & though she has some demons she will fight all of her life is really trying. I hope this author writes more in this series because I would really like to see what Mel's story is and if she has helped others like Reese. Over all this story will touch you and make you call out for truth and justice. I would recommend this book I thought that even with the tough subjects that it is a great book.

A short story that has so much potential to be a brilliant full novel if nurtured some and given just a little more attention, the characters are strong but with it being a novella they aren't really explored as thoroughly as one would like. I like to believe that every soul has it's match but this was just too rushed.

Perhaps it's a 0.5 to a future novel, not that I could find info on this but I'd love to read more about Reese and Stone in the future. For now though it makes for a great in between filler though if you're waiting for a sequel to be released or you just want a quick read at the airport or in the bath.

Good book but not long enough. Everything happened so fast. The plot was good and could have been stretched out more.

A very good short read about a girl escaping from an abusive life and meeting a wonderful, gorgeous MMA fighter (very swoon worthy). I love these short, hot stories and this was a good one.

It was a great read. I spend an amazing hours reading how a teenager girl had so much strenght to fight for herself. And don't just lies down there, giving up, when no one holds out a helping hand.

Reese is not the name she was born with. She choosen one, when wanted to become someone else. Start her life anew. When she wanted to become stronger.

She was sixteen. She had everything. Everything that isn't really important in one's life. Or at least not important to her. Money. Power. Position in society.

What Reese wanted, needed was love. That to someone she would be important. But that wasn't what she got. Her father died when she was a little girl and she don't knew him that good anyway. He was workaholic. Her mother...Well, you really couldn't call that woman a mother. All she cared about is herself. And when she remarried, Reeses life become hell. Her sepfather tried to r*pe her repeatedly. She tried tell her mother. But she didn't care. Then tried look for help by calling for her grandfather. But he was workaholic too. So, not avilaible when Reese needed him the most. Tried to tell her teacher, but her stepfather told that she isn't kinda right in head, make things up. So wherever she tried for help, it got her nowhere.

And then one night something happened, what made her release. No one going to help her. No one going to stop him. If she wouldn't help herself no one will. So, Reese carefully planed and one day she run away from a house, which never was her home.

Reese got lucky. She meet Mel. Who took care of her like a real mother should. She cared for Reese. Made sure that Reese could protect herself , if she ever ended in situation like in her previous life. And in return, Reese helped Mel to tace care of her bar.

Fife years later, one night he comes in. Kieran Stone. He's there for a reason. He's looking for her. Doing a favor for her grandfather. But that isn't whats important here. What's important is that, Kieran makes Reese feel things, she never felt before. In return making her walls break down. Letting him in. In her heart. And Kieran knows she is his. She is the one. He saw through the walls. He knew he find someone precious.

But...While they are building something special, Reese grandfather has his own plans for her.

Safe Haven: Reese was an alright read. I liked it well enough, but it is a short read and as such everything happened too quickly. If it would have been longer, the characters and situations developed more, I think I would have really enjoyed it.

Reese ran away from home when she was young and it became an unsafe place to live. She has this goth persona now that she has adopted ever since to keep people out and herself hidden. She was lucky that she found a mother in Mel and a home at Safe Haven. She is tough now and able to take care of herself. She won't let herself be put in that helpless position again. I wish this would have been a bit longer so I could have known her better.

Kieran is a champion MMA fighter who walks into Reese's life one night. Reese's grandfather sent him looking for her to give her some info. The same grandfather that was too busy to help her way back when she needed it. She is attracted to Kieran, she likes him right away, but she has never really let anyone in like that. She is also scared to be with him. Can she really trust him?

Kieran is taken with Reese pretty quick as well. He has training to do for his fight, but he wants to spend as much time with her as he can. Plus she can fight and take care of herself which is awesome. The two of them are just thrown together really quick and they were good together. I just wish the story had more time to really develop before everything happens.

Overall this was an alright read. I enjoyed it, I just didn't like all the added drama that was introduced then resolved in two seconds. As a longer book it probably would have worked better.

Another Great

Amazing story. Captivating. Browning does a tremendous job taking the reader through this story. They way the main characters shows vulnerability allows the reader to make connection. Over all I will be recommending this book to my friends. Another great for Terri Anne Browning

** Very enjoyable love story **
I had this book for awhile in NOOK but avoided it to read other books.
Not because I didn't want to read it though. I had already read a bunch of Terri's other books. Last night said why not its only 80 pages, and I read she was putting out a follow up to this one soon so I figured read this one so I can be prepared. Until the end I had no idea it was Terri's first publication.

I am so glad I finally decided to read it. It was a well written story that drew me in from the prologue I could not put it down and had to finish it.

I loved Reese, strong girl for someone who went through what she did at 16yrs old.

I totally believed that Keiran and Reese fell in love at first sight because Terri wrote it that way. Excellent read, thanks looking forward to the next Safe Haven book. :)

It was her first published book. Please, betas- go through it once more, eliminate the masses of grammatic and orthographic mistakes- it´s a shame that this nice little story has been left sort-of half-heartedly edited. Amazing that after this for a first book Terri Anne has managed to rise to fame. If I hadn´t devoured the entire Rocker series I´d never have read this one- it´s definitely not on my favorite list. But- more for historical reasons: it was Terri Anne Browning´s first published book- and look what she has been writing for years now- there are chasms between this old work and her recent ones. So, fans, read it just to see how even a really wonderful writer has started small. It will give us amateur writers hope.
Sorry for the single star, but I was glad when I had bravely soldiered through it.

This book was a great read. The story keep you on your toes. The story filled with a lot of emotions and physical pain from her mother and step father . Then a grandfather who was to busy to take her phone calls. The story between the two characters Reese and Kirken was one love and truths. Thanks again for a great book to read.

This was okay for a first novella, but too many typos/missed words to make it a great one. I read this because I love her rock star books, but this definitely needs some tidying up. Loved the hero, sexy MMA fighter who wasn't afraid to show a softer side. If the author wrote another book in the series, maybe about one of Kieran's friends, I'd probably still read it.

At first I didn't think I would be into this book. However I found myself not being able to put this book down. A fighter who wins the love a girl who tried to hide herself. She tried to hide herself away from all of her past, until her fighter shows up and she starts to fall for him. They save each other.

Wow! TAB has a gift. That's all there is to it. She can make you care about these people as if they were real and you've known them forever. Even in this novella, I'm left needing to know what's going on, what to they do now, etc. She creates an addiction to these stories and people. It's awesomeness and I love it.

Also, where's the next one??

This is one of those books that I've had tucked away in my kindle for, well I guess it would be years now. It wasn't until I realized that the MC's make a cameo in The Rock Who Shatters Me that I remembered it. This is Terri's first published work. She set the bar pretty high for herself with this story, which is filled with strong female characters and a supporting cast of crazy guys.

Yes it is a Novella that would have been better served as a full length. Some of the characters never reach top speed and some of the "issues" faced are kinda farcical. But the promis is there. The Rocker Series, rocks but this book is a good time passer during a train ride home.

I struggled to keep up with the story, everything happened too quickly to feel real. Fast paced doesn't begin to cover it...

I usually don't mind insta-love, but in this case the heroine has a history with abuse and trusting someone that fast just does not feel true to her past.
