For the first time, the entire third series of Dark Season is available in one volume. Also includes a bonus book: Arrival (Devil's Briar 1.1). Total word count is around 170,000, approximately 700 pages of a printed book.
Growing up in Callerton, New Mexico, Abby Hart has always known that she's different. Her life changes, however, when she learns that she's the child of a vampire father and a human mother. Many years ago, she was found by the side of a river, but now dark forces have uncovered her location and her life is at risk.
Taken to the town of Dedston, Abby is introduced to her father Patrick, and learns that her mother Sophie is dead. Promised help by the mysterious Benjamin, Abby is torn between learning more about her true identity, and rejecting her father. Finally, she accompanies her father to Gothos, where she learns the truth about the vampires and the stage is set for a final confrontation that will determine the future of the entire species.
From the wastelands of Gothos to the depths of an underground facility in Dedston, and from the wilderness of New Mexico to the marshes of Louisiana, this volume collects together the 8 books from the third and final series of Dark Season books, and answers the ultimate question: will Patrick and Sophie be reunited?
This volume contains all 8 books in the third series:
Book 1: Abigail Book 2: Quisling Book 3: The Bureau of Lost Vampires Book 4: Ruins I Book 5: Ruins II Book 6: By the River Dark Book 7: A Woman, Waiting Book 8: The End
Please note: This book contains violence and swearing. Dark Season: The Complete Third Series is a continuation of the Dark Season series that began with Dark Season: The Complete First Series and continued with Dark Season: The Complete Second Series, and new readers are advised to start at the beginning with series one.
Amy Cross writes novels and short stories in a number of genres, mainly horror, paranormal and fantasy. Books include The Farm, Annie's Room, The Island, Eli's Town and Asylum.
Just want to say Amy Cross us truly one if the best authors I have discovered in Kindle over the years. Rop-notch, well-rounded author who has perfected her craft and is the reigning Queen of Horror. Love all the series and stand-a-lone novels. Despite it being a horror genre there's a lot of poignant sweet stories such as the ones about the ghosts in the airport, and the series of the seaport Town, especially the one about World War II The Ghost of the airport in the world war story are just so excellent It's a style uni does we are it's not even really harder it's just stories that put you right there and very satisfying. In fact I want to find hard copies of some of these books especially those two. But I've enjoyed all of Amy's books. As soon as I see a new book is out I immediately download it.
I didn't want this series to end. There are so many sub plots that you think could not come together. But they do in a mesmerizing final chapters. I would highly recommend this series of books
Felt like someone took 5-6 different people's journals, pulled some pages out and stuck them all together to form one journal. The story is great, it bouncing around got frustrating.
I was so excited to read this last set of books in the series. I try really hard not to start a series unless all of the books are already written because I am so impatient. I hate waiting to know how something ends. With that being said, I did it with this series. I got the first book of the first set for free, and liked it so much that I bought the entire first and second sets on Amazon and read them on my phone since Barnes and Noble doesn't have the entire sets as one book (boo, BTW)...then had to wait forever on the last set. I was so excited when it came out!
Imagine my complete and utter disappointment when the final set of books is almost completely about Abigail. I felt like I was reading an entirely new book/story. I wanted Sophie to come back to life. I 100% expected that Patrick would say whatever he needed to say to bring the vampire race back and that would somehow bring Sophie back or something. Instead, I spent the entire book watching Patrick die, Abigail get mistreated and confused, and being confused myself.
I thought I was going to get all of my questions answered, and instead ended up with more questions and few answers. Why Sophie? Why was her grandfather the one Patrick made the agreement with? What was special about her? I thought she was going to be of some ancient vampire race or SOMETHING! Also, what was special about Sophie's grandfather's land?? Why did Nimrod want it? And what the heck did Elizabeth (I think that was her name, the lady that the Tenderling attacked at the uncle's house), have to do with anything...other than the book of prophecy being in that house? What did her visions of Patrick chasing Sophie through her house mean and why did she have the visions? Maybe I'm just horrible at reading between the lines and need things spelled out for me. And the big secret, the only words whispered by Patrick in THREE BOOKS? It wasn't anything close to what I thought it would be...and then he wasn't even right! And Shelley's pivotal part in the story? UGH! And, could it have been any more depressing than EVERYONE with the exception of the new character, Abigail, dying? OK, I give you Sophie meets Patrick in the afterlife, but still...so disappointing.
I'm sorry to be so negative. I waited a month after finishing the book to write this review. I've never written a bad review before in my life. It makes me feel bad. lol I just really liked the story in the first two sets. They were so different to everything else I have read, and this had the potential to be a GREAT series. But it truly was like reading the first book in a new series instead of the last in the series I was reading. I guess the one positive I can say is that I never knew what was coming. If you like being totally shocked, then this is the series for you.

The third series is based from the time Abby Hart is 16. We envision the struggle she goes through from the time she finds out who and what her parents are and what happened to her mother, Sophie. We see other characters, and read from their views. We also see one major new character, Benjamin. When he turned up at the beginning I knew there was something about him, I don't know why but I just didn't like him, then as the series continues you find out just what that man is capable of. Surrounded by the horrors of the things Patrick is capable of, this man stands out as warped, twisted and completely crazy. Reading how he manipulates poor Abby is horrible. I actually had to put the book down several times because he made me so angry and disgusted. The things he convinces her to do are far worse than anything Patrick has done. Abby is then haunted by these things. It's an amazing series, the emotions it causes are immense. They range from happiness all the way to rage. Excellently written. Apart from putting the book down I enjoyed the series a lot.
I really enjoyed this series and set three tied up everything very well...although the character Abby Hart continues in a spin-off.
Certainly plenty of violence but not without reason and its psychological undercurrent was extremely well thought out, making the 'why' a vital part of the whole saga.
Well-honed characters fit beautifully into this complex plot and I loved the way it switched first-person narratives and times...a great way of getting into each character's mind and their development.
Yes, there were numerous typos and some other errors, however, the fast-paced easy style of writing makes (as usual with this author's work) this story a compelling read.
Sophie's daughter Abigail is fostered in New Mexico where she is bullied because she refuses to talk, Her uncle and her moms best friend with some others from the watchers go to collect when she turns 16, will she be like her dad Patrick the last vampire or her mom who has a kind soul
ABBY HART IS THE DAUGHTER OF PATRICK WHO IS A VAMPIRE AND SOPHIE HART WHO IS HUMAN. ABBY WAS ALWAYS DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS BUT SHE NEVER FIGURED HOW DIFFERENT TIL SHE MET BENJAMIN AND THE OTHERS...
all things considered it was a good series although it had MAJOR cringing moments like u just want to look away lol but a good read eh there can be some debate about that
