The Mystical Witch #1

Dhellia Has A Conscience

Rate this book
She may be the daughter of Satan, but DHELLIA has a conscience. She’s run away from Hell to escape her undesirable duties as princess of the underworld. A three-
month road trip to “upstairs” convinces her half-human side that Earth is where she belongs.

Unfortunately, Lucifer isn’t seeing things her way. Her brother, who is a soul catcher and her protector, snatches her away and hides her in the apartment of a bumbling wizard who casts a cloaking spell on her, and a geeky vampire rock ‘n roll singer who is allergic to human blood.

DHELLIA gets a job in a law office and suddenly, her future is full of possibilities—that is, until a collision of fate and destiny create the perfect storm,
which puts her and her friends in peril. Once again on the run from Satan’s minions, Dhellia and her friends must find a way to survive while she discovers the powers that lie within her.

DHELLIA is a darkly funny, fresh and sassy, fast-paced series about a young woman whose birthright is the underworld—she’s mad as Hell about it, and is determined to beat the Devil at his own game!

April M. Reign was born and raised in Southern California by her happily married parents. She is the oldest of three daughters and considers both of her sisters to be her best friends.

Growing up, she was involved in many sports: softball, surfing, tennis, and Kenpo karate. Many weekends at the beach with her family included her father packing up the long boards and teaching all three daughters how to ride a wave. The activity that stands out the most for her is the thirteen years that she spent studying karate with her family. The family’s karate days remain as some of her fondest memories.

Sports weren’t the only activities that she enjoyed. She played the accordion for twelve years and even played for Jerry Lewis kids fundraisers. During those years, she learned how to read and write music.

Besides writing music, during her high school years, she also discovered her passion for writing words. At fifteen, she began writing poetry. By the time she reached the age of twenty, she was writing short stories, with no other intention than to get the stories from her mind to paper.

At twenty-one years old, she married and shortly after, two handsome sons graced her life. When her marriage ended, she faced the long, difficult path of raising her two boys into strong, well-mannered young men. She took on the task with fervor.

In order to support her children, she worked as a litigation analyst for ten years at a large company and began to pursue a career in law. After long hours in college and even more hours at the law library, while still raising her children alone, she realized that practicing law was not the dream that she wanted to live. She spent the next eleven years as a U.S. Customs Broker, working directly with the FDA and FWS, clearing international shipments into the country.

While she worked full time and raised two adolescent boys, she also decided to follow her dream to write a book. A year later, Enticing the Moon was published. Since then, she has written six more novels and several short stories, and has entered many writing contests, winning first place on several occasions.

As an indie author, April M. Reign writes and publishes her own books. With the increase in her book sales, she was able to give up her job in the corporate world and pursue her dream of writing stories which she hopes capture the attention and intrigue of her readers.

Readers can find April M. Reign’s eBooks on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and more online retailers. The books are also available in print at Lulu.com.

Dhellia Has A Conscience (The Dhellia Series, #1) by April M. Reign
April M. Reign

I was fortunate enough to receive an advance copy of Dhellia Has A Conscience, here is my review!

A daughter of the devil. Her name is Dhellia, and apparently she has conscience. I like the unique take here that the offspring of the devil can have a "sweet" side. Dhellia is a well written, fast paced read which sets the foundation for future books in the series. In this book, Dhellia decides to take a stand against her father, the aforementioned Lucifer, which leads to a bad outcome for Dhellia, until her protective brother, Damien, intercedes. Dhellia ends up waking on earth, and in a classic adage of "careful what you wish for, you just might get it", Dhellia thinks that her wish to live amongst the humans has been granted only to find out that there are some "wrinkles" in the arrangement that she did not anticipate. A nerdy wizard and a vampire musician, who is allergic to human blood are now her roommates! This leads to strange bond that ends up being forged by the trio. Throughout the book, these friends end up helping each other out of situations all the while running from Hell's minions & embarking on individual paths of self-discovery.

April Reign has once again surprised me with putting her thoughts into words and making them come to life.

Dhellia is Satan's daughter and there is no denying it. She's got his attitude and fierceness to back that up, however she has a tender side where she can relate to others which comes from her mother, who was a human. Dhellia wants to prove to her father that she can do things on her own and live on Earth. What she doesn't expect, is for her father to try and keep her down below without reason.

Dhellia comes in contact with a human that arouses feelings and emotions she has never dealt with. Quinn Sable hires Dhellia to work for him and she's extremely uncomfortable since he ignites these feelings which is uncharted territory for her. She has no idea how to respond to him.

April does such a spectacular job of bringing Dhellia's whole world to life. I can sense exactly what Dhellia sees and feels throughout this whole book. I love Dhellia's intensity in this book - she doesn't back down from anyone or anything and stands her ground. Her whole demeanor is one to be reckoned with. Her brother, Damien is very protective and I love that about him - he will defend his sister against anyone, including their father.

The entire plot of this book is unique and original. I have read books in the past that deal with vampires, angels and witches and all the like. But I have never come across a book that deals with the underworld and is so distinctive and peculiar. April has brought a whole new vibe to the world of paranormal and fantasy!

Dhellia is definitely a must read!! It's captivating and intriguing from the very beginning. April has a way with her words that she is able to pull you in from the beginning and keep you stuck in that book to the very end.

I can't wait for the next book in this series!!!

'Dhellia Has a Conscience' is the fabulous new book from one of my favourite authors, April M. Reign.

Dhellia Hunt is a brassed-off, kick-ass, red-headed fire-cracker who just happens to be the Princess of Hell. Having had enough of living under the constant watch of her father, Satan, she escaped his clutches for three months. During her time 'upstairs' she led her fathers hellhounds & minions on a merry dance around the world, before finally ending up back in Hell to face his wrath.
As you would expect, Satan is none too pleased that she ran away in the first place and things aren't looking good for any future forays out of 'downstairs'.

As Dhellia's future starts to look increasingly bleak, her brother & protector, Damien, steals her away and, with the help of 2 of the unlikeliest allies imaginable, hides her in the safest place he can think of.

Having once again escaped the grip of Hell, Dhellia has to learn to live with her new house-mates and finds herself in the unexpected position of having to find herself a job (seriously, whoever heard of a princess having to work?!).
She ends up employed by a law firm - it is here, during her first week in the job, that she meets the mysterious and breathtaking Mr Sable. What is his secret, why does he affect Dhellia so much and what is his interest in her?

Dhellia, along with her new friends - Jonas, a vampire who is allergic to human blood (yeah, really!!) and a statistics mad wizard called Gavin - & her dark, brooding half-demon brother are an interesting, if eclectic, cast of characters who take us on a laugh out loud, fun & adventure filled journey that has a cliffhanger of an ending..... I can't wait for the story to continue in book 2, Dhellia, Quest for The Keys

Dhellia Hunt is a young woman with problems... but not the typical kind. You see, she is the daughter of Satan and has been cooped up in hell for most of her life. But wait, it gets better... Her brother Damien has devised a way for her to escape the pit, and live among the denizens of Earth. Dhellia's roommates are a wizard and a vampire, and she manages to get a job as a secretary to fit in with the humans. However, Lucifer wants her back and has the hellhounds seeking her out. Just when she thinks she is safe, strange things begin to happen and the forces of hell are hot on her trail. Can she escape their clutches? Will Dhellia discover the truth about what she really is? Can she learn to cope with emotions that are all too human? Or will she be dragged back to the underworld and spend eternity there? A conscience can pop up at the worst possible moment... or the best.

This book is fast pace and flows wonderfully. When I first started it the concept amazed me. I have no problem thinking that the daughter of the devil being rebellious but the fact that she is rebellious against her father threw me for a loop. All Dhellia wants out of life is to be happy and free, away from the torture and pain that she was forced to watch and listen to when she was growing up. She don't want to spend her life in hell being just another of her father's minions. The one thing she wants is the one thing that she can only have with the help of her brother and protector Damien.
In this beginning of a great new series I got to meet some amazing and colorful characters that I am very excited to read more about. I think this is a perfect beginning and I am very excited to know that there is more to come.

My Dad is from Hell, Literally

April M. Reign has penned a wonderful book that includes lots of humor as well as action, attitude, fashion, and of course some mayhem. Her characters are memorable, independent, feisty, caring, and willing to learn from each other.

Dhellia, the daughter of Satan, like all teenagers is having some issues with her father not letting her find her own place in the world. Luckily she has an understanding and supportive brother, Damian, who helps her in her plight and introduces her to two endearing nerds, Gavin the wizard and Jonas the vampire with allergies.

Kerri McCann does an absolutely wonderful job with the vocalizations for each character, making you feel like you are in the room with them.

I eagerly await the next in the series.

April Reign's writing never disappoints. Meet Dhellia Hunt, the 20 year old daughter of Lucifer and a fugitive from hell. After being tracked down by hellhounds and dragged back to hell, her brother finds a way to get her out. For Dhellia, this means hiding with a slightly off center distant cousin and his quirky vampire roommate. All goes well until her 21st birthday when literally all Hell breaks loose. Dhellia starts to glow, demons are hot on her trail, the hellhounds reappear, her brother tries defend her, the boys try to save her, secret are revealed AND..well you will have to read the book to find out the rest. Don't miss this book! Firery and Fast!

This book was a very pleasant surprise. I loved the style, story telling and wonderful character development. A very lighthearted story, but well developed. It was a great mixture of Gaiman style cleverness, and reminded me of two of my favorite shows, Being Human, and Reaper. I definitely recommend this book to the fans of supernatural and fantasy. Actually anyone can enjoy this fast-paced story. Well done.

I listened to the audio version of this book. Wow what an incredible story. This fast-paced storyline is very interesting and really different and the characters are amazingly well developed. I love the relationship between Dhellia and her brother and also the bond that she begins to form with her two roommates. There was a lot of detailed description in this novel which just sucked me into the story. Can't wait for book two.

Dhellia has a conscience is fabulous! It'll grab you from the first paragraph and keep you it's prisoner untill the end leaving you licking your lips for more. I fell in love with the misfits of this story, and love, love her brother. Not leaving Dhellia out, she's awesome, sassy, and a smartass. This story is original, different, and you'll love it.

April M Reign's latest, Dhellia Has A Conscience. A brilliant plot with a superbly written host of misfit characters that are perfect for each other. It's a story that you never want to end, but fortunately there is more to come.
