This book appeared briefly under as "Blackmail Bride by Normanda".
They save each other. Both victims of the same evil man, their marriage of convenience is meant to help provide them both with a new life. Working close together, they get to know one another deeply, which makes for a good enough romance storyline. We also get intimate looks into each character, causing us to see beyond the facade the world has stereotyped them with. And that, along with the mystery needing to be solved, is what raises this novel above to a 5. The storyline flows as pieces of the puzzle are unraveled and put back together to form a new picture of events. Family provide a realistic backdrop. The openness of the mountains and loch provide a nice foil to the prison from which they've both escaped. Both refused to play the victim, and in saving themselves, they find and save one another.
Rubbish didn't know if we where supposed to be in the US or Scotland. So many inconsistencies one minute it was pounds then they swap to dollars. she went to Harvard but lived in Edinburgh. Then a Navaho Indian came into it. Annoying as hell.
I definitely struggled through this book. It was torture for me. First thing that I couldn't get over was this book is suppose to take place in Scotland, yet no one (and I mean no one) had even a hint of an accent. I find it hard to believe that no one in Scotland has an accent. Second, the nickname Jack gives Lucy "Honey Girl" is annoying. I can not STAND that nickname.
There isn't one character I like, beside Terror, who is a dog. I've read a lot of books and I can not think of one book that I hated every character. The dialogue (which is usually my favorite part in a book [crappy dialogue equal crappy book in my opinion]) stunk. It didn't seem to have a flow to it. Didn't seem natural.
It seemed like 3/4 of the book focused on their relationship and them trying to figure out how to prove Jack was innocent was on the back burner until the last 2 chapters really. And it seemed rushed to me.
Wow what a thrilling story! A who done it? with added humour and romance....
Jack a Ex con trying to find the truth to why he was convicted of theft and sentenced to two years jail. Lucy an intelligent woman who has suffered through an abusive marriage. Jack and Lucy join together (yes blackmail is involved!) can they help each other solve this mystery! are they able to discover the truth as to what really happened?
This story well written and I found that the author captured the personalities of the characters really well. I enjoyed trying to puzzle out the mystery and soon lost myself in the story.
If your a fan of romance, mystery or intrigue then this is a book for you!!
Lost Weekend An Erotic Romance In Wales combines hot sex, romance, a murder and a great plot all in a highly entertaining great short story along with the girl on top and a touch of humor for good measure. From a chance meeting, to a kidnapping to hot girl on top sex with bad guys in the background and a pushy, demanding ex-girlfriend to stir the plot, this short story is a delightful read that keeps the reader guessing what will happen next. I look forward to reading more by Chase Storm.
