Born Again: The Limericks of Régis

Limericks, it has been said, represent the lowest form of poetry. They are generally silly or downright funny, perhaps enough to elicit a smile or even a laugh. They are challenging and fun to create because the writer has to manipulate the words in order to make them fit the requirements of the limerick genre.

The limericks in this book are fictional. However, most of them were inspired by real events, experiences, persons, animals, things, etc.

You may find that you think you recognize some of the individuals mentioned. You may even see yourself in one or more of the limericks presented here. Yes, some of them are satirical and perhaps even bitter. That is life I suppose.

This project is for the fun of writing without any real purpose except to indulge my silliness, my childish nature, and perhaps to make the reader smile.

About the author

Régis Auffray is originally from Peace River, Alberta, Canada. His parents and all of his extended family are from Brittany, France. He is of Celtic descent. Bretons are not of "French" ancestry thus, as far as he is concerned, not French although at least one of his siblings disagrees. But he loves all nationalities and origins of people. He is convinced that "compassion" is the answer to all of this gem of a planet's problems. He admits that he just does not have a clue how to make it happen. His first language is French but he learned English when his family moved to a town 100 kilometers (60 miles) east of Vancouver, British Columbia. The first poem he can remember writing was in grade 9 in English class. It rhymed and had the proper rhythm. His English teacher thought it was good and encouraged him to continue to write. (Thank you, Mr. Stolee). Régis is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with an Education Degree majoring in French and English.

Regis Auffray is a very talented poet. His poetry is emotionally beautiful, it moves you in many ways and never disappoints or leaves you feeling empty. His collection of limericks "Born Again: The Limericks of Regis" will not disappoint or leave you feeling empty either. It will put a smile on your face, a bounce in your step, and joy and laughter in your heart. You will truly enjoy every limerick treat that fills the pages of this book. If you haven't bought a copy yet, what are you waiting for? Regis Auffray is the "limerick king!" at least in my opinion.
