My mystery thriller series is set mainly in San Francisco and features a jaded journalist, Enzo Lee, who is pried away from his niche covering fluffy features and thrown into some tough situations.

I'm a life-long fan of mystery novels from the Hardy Boys through LeCarre, Francis, Grisham, Hiaasen, Child and many more. Out of college, I was a newspaper reporter for 12 years for publications in Arizona and Florida. I won a Pulitzer Prize for my investigative reporting while at the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson.

My second career was as a lawyer (now reformed). I worked at a couple of law firms in the Bay Area in the high-tech start up realm. After 5 years, I decided to get into the business side instead and was CEO or a high-level officer at larger and smaller tech companies since the mid-90s.

Project Moses was my first novel. Divine Fury is my second. Megan's Cure is the third.

I enjoy golf and hit the gym at least three times a week where I'm a terror on the cross training machines. I'm a devoted and proud father of two daughters. One aspires to be a doctor and the other is navigating high school and trying desperately to keep me up to date.

I received this book free from the author to read and review. This book is as good, if not better, than the first Enzo Lee book. The plot is less complicated, so that alone makes it a bit easier to read and keep track of who's who. In this story, Enzo is covering a political campaign by an openly gay candidate for Governor of California. As can be expected, not everyone is happy with his candidacy or the prospect of such a person being Governor. Thus, people conspire to stop the candidacy, and Enzo finds himself once again in the middle of another nefarious plot. After introducing his character in the first book in the series, the author builds on the character, further developing Enzo and his world. Enzo is believable and could be any one of us. There are some further twists and turns in Enzo's life in this book that bring out more of him and make him more real. The plot of this story, as I said earlier, is more straight forward than that of the first book, so I found it easier to follow. One thing I did not follow well is how Enzo, after being badly banged up after a bad fall from his bike as someone tries to run him down, can almost within a day chase after a fugitive as if nothing was wrong with him. Was he suddenly not sore or injured? What about all the pain killer drugs he had been taking? Poetic license, I guess. Nevertheless, it is evident this author knows how to write a story as well as develop a plot well. I look forward to reading many more of Enzo's adventures. I received this book free from the author to read and review.

Divine Fury: An Enzo Lee Mystery Thriller by Robert B. Lowe
5 STARS
Wow! This book was a ride up and down. I was given this ebook by the author and asked to review it when I was done. The story made me think a lot. My personal thoughts are closer to the bad guys in the book. I am conservative. Thinking gays, sex without marriage is a sin, murder, stealing, hate are also sins. I decided that my review of the book might be influneced by my beliefs.
This is the second Enzo Lee Mystery that I have read. I have enjoyed both books.
The plot tells the story in a few persons and all tie really well in the end. At the start I was wondering.
Enzo Lee is a newspaper reporter that only wants to work on fluffy stories anymore. He has made a nice place for himself in San Fransico paper. Is boss wants him to help out by covering Scott Truman's murder. He ends up doing it. He is later asked to cover some politics of Andrew Harper a Gay man that has a good chance to win the Goverenship of California.
Thier is some people who want to stop a gay man as Govenor. One church is issueing lots of hate and bringing up abortion. Thier are some really hate filled web sites thier.
Terminator is hired to cause Andrew Harper failer in politics. He has hired a computer expert to write a virus that will spy on Harper's campagn. Then make what plans he have go wrong any he can. While the computer hacker is in a building late to plant the virus he runs into Scott in the building. Scott is killed and the body moved to a different site.
Terminator gets big boat out in the bay to disrupt Andrew Harper's press conference that ends up with reporters in the water after the bigger boat gets close to the littler boat.
A returning soldier in Montanna was sent home out of the army after his buddy was killed next to him and he had a brain injury. He has been buying lots of guns. taking lots of pills and is filled with hate.
Thier is so much hate against everyone who does not believe like they do. Made me think okay I believe this but this is wrong way to go about it. Just kept in the back of my mind okay this is bad oh I like that point. I did get lost in the story.
It has lots of action, politics, bombs but also lots of characters and thier relationship to each other made you root for them.
I will look forward to more Enzo Lee Mystery Thrillers to come. I like Robert B. Lowe's
writing style.

I loved Project Moses the first Enzo Lee Mystery and my expectations for Divine Fury were very high. Author Robert B. Lowe undeniably exceeded my expectations with his second Enzo Lee Mystery Divine Fury. I was thoroughly captivated by the excitement, realness and urgency of the story, the memorable characters and the picturesque backdrop of the City of San Francisco.

Enzo is a journalist writing for the San Francisco News and is assigned to cover the political campaign of Andrew Harper an openly gay man running for Governor of California. Members of the Soldiers of Christ Ministry are determined to thwart the campaign along with a disgruntled and delusional ex-military soldier bent on revenge. Enzo finds himself embroiled in a despicable plot to eliminate the candidate.

Enzo Lee is a character portrayed with immense realism, emotion and attention to detail. He takes the reader on his journey effortlessly and keeps you engaged every step of the way. The supporting cast of characters is extremely imaginative and their stories and interactions contribute to the suspense and intrigue of the story.

The plot of the story is breathtaking and easy to follow as you are pulled into the story and anticipating the next move. The clash between good and evil is at the center of the story and Robert B. Lowe does an amazing job of bringing the two forces together. His writing style is both engrossing and informative lending to the believability and integrity of the story.

The perspective of investigative journalism provided by Robert B. Lowe, who has twelve years of experience in the field, once again provides an eye-opening view of the behind the scenes involvement, determination and selflessness it takes to bring a story of this magnitude to completion.

I highly recommend this fascinating and fast paced mystery/thriller it is a thought provoking and extremely captivating story.

I’ve been trying to mix up my genres a bit (one can only read so much YA and Romance you know) and political thrillers appear to be popping up more and more. I always enjoy a briskly paced story so after seeing the synopsis I was hoping for a wild ride of political intrigue and religious conspiracy.

Overall, it’s a good story. The hero, Enzo Lee is a reporter happy with his feel good pieces when his boss asks him to cover the race for California Governor. He reluctantly agrees then discovers there is much more to this political race than meets the eye. Sabotage, spying, and an unexplained murder all lead to conspiracy theories involving an ultra religious group dead set against Andrew Harper, an openly gay politician, winning the race.

The story breaks off into little tangents dealing with side characters that eventually have more involvement and purpose to the overall story. It felt a little slow to build momentum and these side stories interrupted my enjoyment. Some of the scenes that could have been tension filled didn’t grab me by the throat in anticipation. There was a side story line involving Lee’s grandmother and a mentor of his beginning a relationship that I wasn’t sure needed to be part of the story. And his romantic relationship with his boss wasn’t that exciting. It was there but it didn’t really fit. There were also scenes that I understand served as minor plot development but I wasn’t convinced they were necessary, specifically a scene with Lee’s boss riding her bike.

The one tense scene was right near the end where the final stand off occurs. I thought it was wrapped up a little too quickly overall, there was potential to really ramp up the action.

I enjoyed the story line but I don’t think it was the best political thriller I’ve read. It was okay.

Enzo Lee is a San Francisco reporter persuaded to leave his fluff pieces behind and cover a historic political campaign for mayor. His experiences quickly escalate from simple press conference coverage to uncovering political sabotage that is quickly turning deadly. “Divine Fury (Enzo Lee Mystery Thriller Series #2)” is Robert B. Lowe’s new mystery/thriller.

Overall this book is well written. Lowe does a good job with character development. I definitely liked Lee. I did find some of the subplots in the book extraneous, though having skipped the first novel in the series there may have been some tie-in that I was missing. I did enjoy the romance between Enzo and his boss; however Lowe seemed to just skim the surface of what was going on. A little more depth to his character’s relationships and emotions would have been a nice addition.

I also appreciated the content in the book. With the issues of same-sex marriage, gay rights, religious rights, and equality the book does get the reader thinking. I really liked the gay couple in the book; they were professional, nice, and just overall decent people. It was refreshing to see.

My biggest complaint with the novel was that it was somewhat predictable. Lowe gave the reader information about what the other side was up to, what their plans were, and who was doing what. I think leaving some of that information out, letting the reader making assumptions and guesses, would have made the book closer to a true mystery.

Overall, I enjoyed reading “Divine Fury” by Robert B. Lowe. For those of you looking for a lighter mystery thriller with a dash of romance and political intrigue this is the novel for you.

I received this book through Goodreads First Reads. This in no way influenced my review. I was not compensated for, nor required to, write a review.

Divine Fury, by Robert B. Lowe is the second in a series of political thrillers with reporter Enzo Lee at the center. This one includes a gay candidate for California governor, a huge fundamentalist Christian sect, a depressed Army vet, a sexy lady city editor, a black lesbian cop and several side characters that are included for impact.

First of all I will state that I took this book review on because I was looking for something new (i.e.: new genre for me) to read. I don't normally pick up this sort of thing. But I am glad that I did. The few times I've read John Grisham or that Patterson guy were similar, fast-moving experiences.

Mr. Lowe writes in short chapters, moving from character to character and scene to scene quickly in a way that keeps you compelled to see who's up next. It was very interesting to see how each set of characters were introduced and how they would come to interact. This kind of a story truly is like a web, woven from the outside in, with all the various players and story lines ultimately intersecting with a climax that was, while a bit on the expected side, well written nonetheless.

If you like fast-paced political thrillers, especially with a food loving male journalist with a good sense of humor and great taste in wine, I'd highly recommend this. It's the perfect book for a vacation read, something to hold your interest, entertain and appreciate. I'm a fan of character driven stories so I was somewhat frustrated by certain scenes and elements but the more I read the more I kept thinking:
"Hmmmmm.....I would love to collaborate with a writer like this. Between us we could really come up with something fun and exciting."

A "Four Lagers" Read.

First and foremost, this was a free read thanks to Goodreads First Reads.

Ive had this sitting on my nightstand for sometime. Unfortunately, life has been happening and I typically travel with my nook and save my acutal books for reading at home, so I havent been able to dedicate time to it until this weekend so I burned through it to the finish. I was pleasantly surprised at reading what I believe to be Mr. Lowes second entry in his Enzo series, and I now need to check out the first. While reading this, I kept acknowledging to myself the effort that Lowe put into painting the San Francisco atmosphere for the reader incorporating the landscape, culture, and social idiosyncracies that go along with that enviorment...oh and there was a mystery/crime element to. Very well written with the minor pet peeve issue of character transfer. Small pet peeve of mine but shouldnt distract other readers at all. I just like my story to transfer to different characters and locations a little bit more seamlessly. A few times I had to reread some entries to figure out where I was again. Could be just me though. On par with another recent crime/mystery novel I just read "The Insider" which also took place in San Franscisco, the story starts out somewhat slow as the reader gains an understanding of the written characters, but once the story takes off, hang on. Very happy to have read it.

Alright, I admit this will probably never be regarded as classic literature. But it is a quick paced, action adventure, and I really like Enzo Lee, who is the main character. This is the second book by Lowe that I have read featuring his beleaguered newspaperman, Lee. Lowe does a wonderful job of characterization and the plot and antagonists have been ripped from the front page of public debate. Take a conservative, evangelical church, add a gay candidate for the office of governor of California, then mix in a militant former Ranger, and our reluctant investigative reporter has a mystery on his hands, as well as front page news. What makes Lee such a wonderful character is that he is not really special in the sense of Bond or Bourne, but he is smart and compassionate, and though he tries not to, he genuinely cares about others. In my humble opinion, it is Lee that makes Lowe's books so memorable. His plots and settings are imaginative and contemporary to modern life, but in the end it is Lee that makes the books both readable and enjoyable.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

This is my first Enzo Lee thriller. I was initially a bit confused by the number of characters introduced in a rather short period of time. After awhile the theme and characters settled down and I had the plot well in hand. So, if you start reading this book, don't despair if it is confusing for awhile.

This story is about an openly gay politician winning the Democratic Party primary and running against a conservative in the general election. There are only a few states where this is possible. In this case, the candidate is from the ultra liberal Bay Area of California. When you have a very left candidate, you should expect the plot to center around an ultra right opposition - and you would, be correct.

I found the story to be clever and enjoyable. I rather enjoyed the story. So, you want to know what happens in this thriller. Well, let me tell you that you simply have to buy the book to find out. No matter your opinion of sexual orientation, you will not be offended.

The second book in the Enzo Lee series. Enzo is a reporter for a San Francisco newspaper who is assigned the task of covering the campaign for state governor by a prominent gay lawyer. But suddenly things go wrong with the campaign.

In my opinion there was unnecessary detail about food and clothes, neither of which adds to the story. Combine this with a lack of detail where it's needed produces a story which was hard to wade through at times. Particularly when combined with a slow build-up.

Things got moving when a disgruntled army vet came to town wanting to kill the gay contender. In my opinion this part of the story was better written, but still suffered from the odd bit of extra detail about food and clothes. The climax was well timed although the suspense could have been heightened more.

In my opinion this book was better than its predecessor "Project Moses". This suggests that things could improve further with the next instalment in the Enzo Lee series.

Reporter Enzo Lee gets pulled into a political mess when he is assigned to cover the campaign for California’s Governor. The candidate for the Republicans comes from the very conservative southern farming areas and supported by a big mega church and its pastor and his second in command. The Democrat candidate with plenty of political credits is openly Gay and has large liberal support. The church’s second in command has his own personal agenda to stamp all “perversions” rampant in the state and country and is perfectly willing to any and all means to achieve has goal. He goes so far as to create a website that caters to those with extreme views and recruits the most extreme through a second party to target the Gay candidate. It’s into this battle that Enzo finds himself thrown and with the help of a friend and police detective he is instrumental in putting a stop to the underhanded actions.

I would not give this book as high a rating as some of the others here and perhaps its a matter of what is my style when I read a mystery, but..... that being said: I did not find much mystery here. It is made fairly clear from the beginning what is going on and who is doing it. I think the book is misclassified as a mystery and should be looked at more as an adventure/thriller type.

Given that, I would still keep the rating I gave it simply because I did not find the plot very suspenseful. I knew what was going to happen more or less after the first 20 pages. The rest was just watching the author go through the motions.

The writing quality was good and I enjoyed the main character Enzo. Interactions and characterization were real and good. I just think the thing fell down when it came to plot.

A rather well written story. Enzo Lee, a features reporter for the San Francisco News, gets caught up in a tale of intrigue rife with dirty deeds directed toward an out of the closet candidate for the governorship of California. Along the way, he becomes involved in the investigations of a couple of murders, computer sabotage, and political spying. And then there's the romantic side of the tale. Given that this is the second novel Lowe has written with Lee as the protagonist, the romance appears to be a character development bit.

A page-turner filled with action, I would recommend this to anyone who has not read Robert Lowe as yet. I intend to read more of him!

I had a hard time getting into this book. It wasn't bad, but there was nothing exciting or gripping to make me want to keep going. It started slow and I had a hard time keeping track of the characters.

Enzo, a journalist and the main character, finds himself in the middle of a plot by a fanatical religious group to assassinate a gay politician in California. He always seems to be around at the right time and helps the police with the investigation. Again, this book was OK, but nothing I couldn't live w/o.

The first in the series was good; this is better! Books 1 and 3 have techno-thriller components; this is a political thriller.
In addition to an interesting plot and good characters, there is EXCELLENT San Francisco atmosphere, complete with references to real restaurants. The suspense scenes are very well done, and I am very picky about such scenes, which often seem dragged out. He also manages to kill off nice people in ways that make me sad but not angry with him.
Only criticism: I wish he did not feel compelled to insert an obligatory sex scene. It just doesn't fit in the book.

Another great novel by Robert B. Lowe in the Enzo Lee Mystery Thriller Series.
Divine Fury certaily makes a worthy follow up to his first novel, Project Moses. The opening chapter of the book drags you straight in to some intriguing action that teases you at first, with the character gradually slotting into place. It made for interesting reading to discover how he fit into the storyline.
Great pace and storyline,a thoroughly enjoayble read.

Didn't know that this was a second book in the series but this book is well worth reading. It is a good mystery and I liked the characters who were outstanding but not so much so as to be unreal like found in some books. Any mystery buff will like this book and probably the series that was and will come.

The next book in the Enzo Lee series is a worthy follow-up book to Project Moses with a well thought out plot following 2 sides of a political campaign and the actions of a religious vigilante working for one side leading to an exciting end.
