I’ve been straddling the fence, debating whether to give Anbu Rayappan’s NON-FICTION WRITING MACHINE - How to Write a Book in 5 1/2 Days in 3 SIMPLE Steps a one-star review or a five-star review. It’s an awkward balance, a soft patch of grass on one side, a steep rocky cliff descending sharply to a pit of manure-covered spikes on the other. Frankly, NON-FICTION WRITING MACHINE - How to Write a Book in 5 1/2 Days in 3 SIMPLE Steps is exactly the sort of thing one expects, a quickly-written collection of aphorisms, anecdotes, and regurgitations from other how-to books. Featuring insightful definitions like “Non-fiction book is a branch of literature that offers opinions/advice” [sic] and recommendations along the lines of “If the title has a number in it, readers really like it and buy the book,” [sic] NON-FICTION WRITING MACHINE - How to Write a Book in 5 1/2 Days feels like the cargo cult version of an Anthony Robbins seminar, aping behavior as ritual, but lacking the context to understand how things actually relate. The editing is atrocious, and the book is ridden with typos and poorly-structured sentences, but that’s to be expected in a book that advises, “Go through the book 2 to 3 times looking for typos and grammar mistakes and punctuation marks […] If you really want the book to be perfect without any mistakes, then you can hire someone in Elance.com or TheContentAuthority.com or Fiverr.com. They will edit it for a nominal fee. In TheContentAuthority.com, it is 2$ per page. At any cost, don’t overdo it. You are overdoing it if you go through the book more than 5 times looking for each and everything.” It’s very clear Rayappan didn’t want to overdo it.

At the same time, I imagine Anbu Rayappan has great difficulty buying pants. After all, having the chutzpah to post an 8,500-word how-to book hacked out in five-and-a-half two-hour days on Amazon and charge a buck a peek requires one to have balls the size of church bells. So, in the spirit recommended by Rayappan himself, when he writes “As an author, you WILL get negative reviews. Please don't take them personally. Nobody likes to hear their baby is ugly. Don't give up. Some people write real nasty, destructive comment which doesn't help the author to improve in anyway. It only reflects the kind of person he is,” I’m going to split the difference by offering the baby monkey a three-star banana (Oh, you say he isn’t a monkey? How terrible!), and say that while Anbu Rayappan’s NON-FICTION WRITING MACHINE - How to Write a Book in 5 1/2 Days in 3 SIMPLE Steps is a train-wreck of a book and I was aghast throughout that the thing had been published, I laughed frequently, I had a good time throughout, I read the whole thing (even the 1,500 word chapter pulled verbatim from Rayappan's previous book), and I may even have learned a thing.

I leave you with this: “Have you noticed the toddlers when they fall down? As soon as they fall down, they look around to see if anyone has noticed it. If they see someone looking at them, then they start crying. If not, they usually get up and dust it off and continue their activities. Toddlers cry, out of embarrassment. They too have ego. They don’t want to appear like idiots who can’t walk or bike properly.”

I got run over by a toddler on a bike once. But nobody was watching, so I didn’t cry.

This was the funniest happy accident I've ever read. I was looking for a serious writing reference book and came across this not-very-well-written book, and it was VERY VERY HELPFUL. I recommend it to anyone who's writing a non-fiction book. So much lols. (I'm not being sarcastic, you guys.)

A Non-Fiction Writing Machine How to Write a Book in 5 1/2 Days in 3 SIMPLE Steps - A rather long title for a short book, but it is enough to make you into a writing machine for sure. I was searching for books online and saw this title, and decided to read it because of its not so large size and my goals related to writing books. I can say it is going to help a new writer or someone who is stuck at what to do with writing goals. Just give this book a try and surely you'll learn a thing or two, even if you are already writing and publishing books.

Just keep in mind, the writer was very clear about the simple concepts that can increase your speed in completing the book but still, you are the one who is writing, so it won't actually take 5 1/2 days to finish unless you already have a complete story ready in your mind.

I feel it can help a lot of writers who never started a book because of fears and lack of knowledge about this industry. And I can safely say that this is one of the best simple books from the "how-to" genre related to book writing.

I suggest you stop whatever you are writing and read this book from start to finish and take notes of what you feel is lacking from your writing and anything else that you missed in your previous publication adventures.

The only thing that I think is wrong about this book is the title because this book not just helps non-fiction; it can help fiction and any other genre of book writers who are lucky enough to read this book.

The guides given in this book are very superficial. Most of it are like a structured compilation of stating the obvious. Shooting empty bullets. However, there are a few simple useful tips.
This book is not for people who want to write quality content. It is only generalizing the process of writing a book.

The book begins with the author describing how he spontaneously decided to write a short nonfiction book and seeing that he was done in 5 ½ days, he wrote a book about the process. It covers the purpose of nonfiction books, how long they should be and why, and how to develop the idea, research the market, and write, sell, and market your Kindle ebook. It breaks down the writing process into parts, as well as the book sections and subsections. Each element of an ebook is covered, including the book title, cover, introduction, body...

This book is a nice, short summary of basic steps to take when attempting to write a short non-fiction book.
The writing is not perfect, and the book lacks enough details to make it a "go-to" manual.
But at the same time, it is a very quick, easy read, and was quite enjoyable.
I will probably use this as a checklist if I ever get to writing that dream book.

Just finished this book and I think he accomplished what he set out to do: present a clear, straightforward approach to getting your ideas down on paper and into the Kindle store. I'm excited to get started.
