I would have enjoyed this book so much more if the author hadn't managed to abuse ALL of my pet peeves in one short book.

1)Editing! I hate it when I'm reading a book and the tense changes from present, to past tense within the same sentence or same paragraph. This happened too often while reading this book. Bad Editting RUINS good books!! Simple fix. Find an editor.

description

2) Cheaters!! I hate cheaters!! Once the heroine finds her hero, I expect a Faithful, Monogamous Relationship! It Pisses me off, and RUINS the book when they cheat!! Simple fix for this is, if you are writing a love story, don't allow the hero or heroine to be a cheap whore, that has no respect for themselves or their relationship.

description

3) No HEA!!! Why would I waste my time reading a love story that had no HEA? Exactly!! If I had known there was no HEA in this book, I would have saved myself a lot of heart ache!! Not only was there no HEA, the cheating party survived!! So not fair! UHGG!!

I usually enjoy erotic books that involve a human woman and a werewolf mating. But they usually fall short, and this one did.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I received this e-book courtesy of the author in exchange for an honest review.

I was pulled in many directions as I read this book- vacillated between a rating of a 3 or a 4, but in the end, deemed this book worthy of a 4 star rating. I recommend reading this book, and look forward to more from this author. Here are my observations and opinions.

Amelia starts the book having a secret affair with Prince Rowan, and is abducted after a middle-of-the-night tryst. She realizes that if she wasn't some secret and if he took care of her, she may not have been abducted.

Amelia's abductor is the King Joseph- the Wolf King. He quickly picks her out as his personal assistant, and their mutual attraction turns up the heat between the two. Plus, King Joseph is one hot and irresistible King and lover, and pretty soon, Amelia's forgotten all about Prince Rowan... Their first sexual interlude is quite hot- he is in fully shifted werewolf form.

While there are romantic elements to this book, it is not your standard werewolf erotic romance. There are some shocking twists and turns in the story, and violence. These elements added to the story, and to my enjoyment and higher rating.

I thought that Amelia's character could have been better developed. The book is written in first-person but still at times I found it lacking in her innermost thoughts.

While there were some enjoyable erotic elements to the sex scenes, they weren't "take your breath away" red-hot~~ a writing skill I think likely comes with experience.

The book was well edited overall- a few places were present tense and past tense were mixed, but it wasn't aggravatingly loaded with errors, thank you S.M.!

I received this e-book given by the author in exchange for an honest review.

It will be difficult not to make spoiler to explain what I liked or not in this story.

Amelia was in affair with prince Rowan but this one wasn't confortable with that. So nobody knows about their affair.
One night, The heroin was abducted to be sold to the wolf king. She became his slave but something in her was addictive to him.
So you can think about what could have happening ;)

I won't tell more for fear of telling to much.

what I like in the story :
- The way of thinking of the wolf king, quite pleasant even if he is a beast
- the love story between Amelia and the king

What I like less :
- the king have to change her to make her his queen
- some words are difficult to understand but it's not a problem about the story (I'm french ^^)
- quite in the end of the book, I didn't like what Amelia has done ... but I won't tell you because it will ruin the suspense

My Rant: I completely enjoyed this book. The book starts off erotic. You are caught in the flame of passion between Amelia and Rowan immediately and you’re starting the beginning of the book with a pounding heart. Prince Rowan is royally sexy but when you think he would be the leading man in this romance series you are taken for a twist and King Joseph steps in and makes the first steamy scene look like child’s play against his romantic flair. The man is a wolf need I say more. LOL.

“You want it now, do you? He whispered, noticing my enjoyment.
I couldn’t help blush. What was I to do? I wanted it. I wanted it badly but to admit that’s seemed wrong. Maybe even evil. Yet here I was, squirming anxiously under him as he used my body for his own satisfaction.”

There is mischief in the mist because everyone is plotting something and you kind of know who it is but what you don’t expect is the killer ending. Honestly, I was completely shocked because I could not see that coming from a mile away. During this book I was on Amelia side. She was the weakest and most fragile in the story but at the end I wanted to wrap my hand around her neck, seriously. Amelia redeems herself a little but what left me wanting more was the little surprise that joined both kingdoms under her rule.

“I was once a weak servant girl. Now I was the Wolf Queen, conqueror of the man-king and mother to the ruler of both kingdoms’.

My Recommendation: I rated this book 3 ½ out of 5 purple Rant Hearts. This was such a short but quick read and I enjoyed it. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys short Paranormal Romance stories.

When I started this book I wasn't sure if I would finish it. I kept reading. I'm glad I kept reading. Yes, only 96 pages and only a few hours of times (with interruptions) so I knew there wouldn't be too much depth to a story but this... Reading this novella was like reading a full novel three times as long.

While the beginning did not appeal to me as the pages were turned my interest grew. By the ending chapters I was in shock and engrossed as to what would happen next. I want to know what happens after the ending of this novella. The tone of the novel seemed to progress with the characters and while the writing does have down spots overall it's a really good read.

Note: I read a free copy given through the author. This has not affected my views on the book.

Asked for review by author S.M. Griffon, I liked the story very much, had most the urban fantasy theme with light erotica.. storyline was easy to read.

I wish the beginning would have had a little more information about Amelia and her lover Rowan, just to let us know who she was, where she came from her family, what her life was like, as well as her lover Rowan - a nobel what what kind? The story really starts with the two of them meeting for casual sex, I feel she may have wanted more but Rowan was just being a man and enjoying a hot orifice.. before she left him that fatal night to go home and was abducted...

After Amelia is kidnapped she is quickly sold to King Josef, her daily life is mentioned but how she came to this position intersted me, was it her looks, luck? She however is chosen to assist King Josef and other ladder climbing women do not like this.

Storyline after that flowed quickly I would have loved more detail between Amelia and Josef since they cared for each other, they were happy with one another even if they had to hide what they did until the big announcement which started the whole events that lead to novella two.

I must say I was sad with ending.. wish it had ended differently but I understand why author wrote the ending the way he did allowing for future stories.. Ending note Amelia is not to be doublecrossed and loved her action with the literal bitch loosing a head was awesome...... would like to know what became of the other traitors as well.. The ending was a great suprise.

I enjoyed the book and will read the second novella in the series.

For those who like novellas with the urban fantasy theme and light ecrotic story you will this, I was suprised to see sex with the human and wolf/shifter 'changed' form. A little taboo there but author made it acceptable as Amelia enjoyed the romp in the grass lol....

I enjoy more sex and bdsm in my books but this author is writing as he wishes and I respect that...

Thanks for allowing me to be a first to read your book Griffon!!!!

When I first started reading this book and it has a couple having sex right away, I knew I was going to get a hot read.

Amelia is a commoner that has to do what she can to survive. So when she is kidnapped and taking to the wolf clan she does try to escape. King Josef is the wolf kind and has fallen for Amelia. That puts her life in danger and he will do whatever he can to keep her safe.

What I was taken on was a very dark and twisted journey. It had hot sex and betrayal. I was left saying what in the heck happened. I started reading with such promise and ended being upset about the ending. I can’t believe that it ended that way and that things happened like that. I guess I am the happy ending kind of girl and this book is not a happy ending.

I was feeling pretty bummed and I didn’t want to give this book a bad review, when I found out that this is a series so maybe things will look up in the next book. I am willing to try the next book just to see if there is a good outcome or I will just have to remember the bad in this one.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t read this book. I will just say there are some good as well as bad in this story. I ended up not liking Amelia at the end. I will warn you that this is a pretty dark read.

Rowan and Amelia...

I was given an ARC by the author in return for an honest review. (Thank you)

In all honesty and jokes aside, I could’ve found this novella very powerful, if only there had been more build-up, emotional qualities and more “flesh” to the story... More descriptive details on the setting, people (like Amelia, so that you can connect with her on some level, and know what she is about), circumstances and emotions (like inner monologue would’ve been fun with the characters, by way of getting to know them better).

The sex scenes were good, but lacked intensity. Not enough time was spent on each intimate scene to bring it more to LIFE, and I feel that - that would’ve made a difference. One scene in particular which involved the shifted Beast and Amelia didn’t sit right with me.

All in all, the final half of the story saved the book with ShOcKiNg turn of events... I didn’t think Amelia had it in her, wasn’t expecting it at all!

Fast paced, quick read. Will I read the next book? Yes! It finally got good at the end and now I'm intrigued......

I received a copy of Into the Wolf's Den by S.M. Griffon, who was nice enough to send me a copy.

and i give it a rating of 3.5 stars because it deserved more than 3 stars.

I really enjoyed reading this novella and it started out hot and heavy with Prince Rowan. It progressed quickly to her kidnapping and her getting hot and heavy with King Josef. It was a little weird when she was with his wolf side, but it was different and high five for doing something different. as their relationship progresses we see Amelia's personality more and her Morals change. I found some of her choices annoyed me, but in reality i don't know what her personality or morals were before she was kidnapped, ie before she was in the barn.

I really started to like Josef, and you could tell Amelia was important to him. So i was shocked a little at the end. The author kept me on my toes and i will definitely read the next installment in the Dark Kingdoms.

Also I think Amelia would make a great strong leader or a great villain!

I was interested in the story and how it would evolve but from the start I felt seperated from Amelia. It is only from much later that I realy meet her. There are time when you get into the story and then then scene is lost due to the descriptions on how they got there is left out, e.g. He tell her to lie down on the ground and then he let her skirt drop to the ground.
I was realy suprised at the end of the novel. Good work.
Would read the second book just to see how Amelia's life turn out.
