Without warning a virulent manmade disease has unleashed a biblical terror on the World. The United Kingdom is hit particularly hard leaving few places to hide in an overcrowded country. Nine months later the ghouls outnumber the living by thousands. Survivors live an endless toil of searching for food and protecting the living. Some organisation exists, but is collapsing. Jack leads a trio of men hated by the rest of the survivors. Their Job is to protect the integrity of the safe haven by preventing the infection from ever entering. On a reconnaissance trip they come across a woman and her two children. Jack, the leader comes to the realization that children are the key to the survival of the human race. He shifts his allegiance from slaughtering the infected to getting the kids to a possible safe zone.
Paul S. Huggins hails from the United Kingdom within the witchcraft and smuggler rich county of Essex, and resides there with his partner in a Victorian villa. His introduction to the genre was being scared to death at an early age by a movie called ‘Dawn of the Dead’. It changed his whole aspect on the apocalypse, and now thinks when not if! With numerous short stories published and an anthology featuring six of his own short stories, Paul would say horror is in his blood, but thankfully he is still living.
A great scary read. It is the loneliness that the end portrays that is the worst part, as most zombie books end with lots of survivors joining together to make a life. Well worth a read.
Beyond Isaiah is your basic zombie apocalypse tale. People struggling to survive day to day. Some people even think about a future and strive to make preparations for that. This is one of those stories. What’s a bit different is these zombies are more debilitated than your “standard” zombie. These poor souls cannot see out of their hard-boiled eyes. Evidently their sense of smell is sub-par as well, as people are able to sneak by them. Best of all these zombies are named Isaiah. Why? Well, you won’t find out for quite some time and I’m certainly not going to tell you. It’s a decent story if you stick with it. The final couple chapters are excellent. This was a fair to good Zombie apocalypse book. There was not enough background on the main characters.I believe fleashing it out a bit would help. D. Michael Hope was a fair to good narrator..It seemed like just when things would start flowing nicely between story and narrator,we swicthed to somoene elses story. Also, since it was set in the UK,why not have a Brit accent?I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.
It was nice to have a zombie story that wraps up. It was odd having an American accent for this book. That being said the narrator did an excellent job. I felt like the story did skip around a bit in the beginning. There were quite a few time jumps. All in all I did enjoy this story. I actually like that not everyone survives because if this were to ever happen that would be comment.
I was voluntarily provided this review copy at no charge by the author, publisher and or narrator.
A standard zombie story any fan will enjoy I liked that nobody was safe in this one it added to the overall despair Well narrated and fast paced worth checking out I received a free review audiobook and voluntarily left this review
One of the best Zombie book's I have read. It starts very strong and gory just what I imagine a zombie apocalypse to look like. Even through it is very short you do develop a fondness for the characters and it could easily been a full-length novel. A must read if you love Zombies.
