An extraordinary woman genetically engineered to be a weapon, the spec-ops soldier tasked to retrieve her, and a mad scientist who will never stop hunting her. It’s said love can conquer all... but will it?

Skylar is the hunted. Fashioned for the sole purpose of destruction, she has spent her entire life running from the evil scientist who created her, her father. When a team of retrieval experts hired by her father track her down, neither Skylar nor the team’s leader is prepared for the magnetic attraction that will not let them go. In the midst of danger, with their lives on the line, they forge a bond so tight only death could break it. Lea Griffith began sneaking to read her mother’s romance novels at a young age. She cut her teeth on the greats: McNaught, Woodiwiss, and Garwood. A firm believer that love makes the world go round, she still consumes every romance book she can put her hands on, but now she writes her own.
Lea lives with her husband and three teenage daughters in rural Georgia. Two dogs, a cat, and a beta fish named Coddy George complete a family that is always in motion. When not working at the EDJ, she’s usually at her keyboard, using every spare second to write. Science fiction, paranormal and contemporary romance, oh my! Nothing is off-limits when it comes to her writing.

This was a very unique and interesting book for me. I really enjoyed discovering Skylar and her sister’s powers as they were revealed throughout the story. The characters were well written and I liked discovering all the different personalities that the author brought together in this story.

The sisters are made to destroy but in their hearts they are not destroyers. I liked how this was written because if the sisters wanted to they could hurt or destroy so much but they only use their powers or strengths for self-defense or to help others. The sisters really balanced each other out powers and personalities alike and I look forward to hearing more about them as well as the others that were in the lab. I am curious about the long lost sister and if she will show any of their powers or not.

Skylar has always protected what is hers and she doesn’t listen well to others, let alone believe that they are capable of protecting themselves. She stepped on several toes on her way to stop the mad scientist and seemed always ready to sacrifice herself to stop him from getting anyone she loves. This tended to really make everyone else angry because she didn’t stop to think what it would do to the other people should she actually die. This was really the only thing that I did not like in the main character. I hope after this book she has learned her lesson as it seemed by the end she had learned.

I am not normally a fan of instalove and that is pretty much what it was between Skylar and Sebastian but in this story it actually worked. I had no problem reading about the romance in this story as it was beautifully written.

I look forward to reading more in this series.

Really good book! Can't wait to read the rest of the series - I know the next book comes in September and that will have some more backstory! YAY

This is the first book in the GenTech Chronicles by Lea Griffith. In my opinion, this is going to be a great series!

This book has everything you need to get hooked - intriguing characters who capture your eye (HOLY HE IS HAWT) and your interest (WAY COOL SHE CAN DO THAT) and who's interactions only draw you deeper into their stories. The supporting characters mostly do what they're told and are just as mysterious and alluring.

All you want to do is keep reading so you can figure out this scientific and paranormal marvel of the modern world. Some parts lead you to wonder how real this might be - how deep have we gotten into the genetic mystery that is human ability. Then you simply shake your head and dive back into this marvellous magical and mystical world Ms. Lea has created for us, filled with these amazing, amusing, sexy, layered humans who have been through and seen so much that has shaped them into who and what they are. And you know that you have to keep reading to the last word on the last page - and then demand MORE - because there is so much more to know, to experience and to live through in these lives and in this world.

And we must be there for every moment!

NEXT BOOK PLEASE :-) *holds hands out begging*

I am really enjoying this author. I have read her Bullet to the heart and that was a 5* read for me. This one left me slightly disappointed as I felt the hero Sebastian was given a back seat to Skylar, she outshined him in this book which I felt was not cool. I know she wanted to protect him and all that but she came across as being arrogant not protective.

I really liked the banter they had going in the beginning, the first half of the book had great promise but I don't like seeing my heroes who are total alpha being made to play second fiddle to the heroine who thinks she needs no one( that is just me).

Overall a good book which I will recommend to any romance lover who is looking for something with a slight paranormal to it, I am slightly concerned that Sasha and Dray's book is next when they are already mentioned in this book and we already kind of know her story.
