If you like books like Little house On the Prairie, Anne of Greene Gables, and similar series, you'll probably like LINDY ON THE OREGON TRAIL, book one in the Oregon series.AGES 11 to 99, a book the whole family can enjoy.
Jacqueline Kimball (Jackie)is a Christian fiction author, and a member of American Christian Fiction Authors. She has three adult children, is a proud Nana, and a lifetime certified elementary teacher. She shares a home in northern Louisiana with her daughter and two spoiled dogs.
Jacqueline usually writes in her favorite genre, historical fiction. She loves to write both Christian historical and children's historical.
She has loved to read since first grade. Jacqueline says that she got in trouble countless times in grade school for reading books from the library shelf instead of her assigned work.In her freshman year of high school ,she was given a topic sentence and told to write an interesting paragraph. That night ,she went home and started to write the paragraph. To her surprise, she imagined a complete short story. She wrote a four page story in about fifteen minutes. From that day forward, she was hooked on writing.
It amazes me how much strength, and bravery, it took for the men and women who made the long, long trip in the wagon trains to the west. Wonderful read about how 13 year old Lindy, and her family survived that trip.
A family travels on the wagon trail to Oregon from Missouri. The story is told from a young girl’s view - Lindy, writes in her journal about it, very interesting and informative!
It was a lot of fun to read. I read it aloud to my preschoolers and my girl loved it and my boys appreciated the life on the trail details. It's a very sweet little book and I found myself wanting to sneak back to it when it wasn't reading time and read ahead!
There are a number of places that would appreciate a good editor, but the story was great.
I read book 2 first and really liked it so I read book 3 thinking it would bring all the family's together. Sadly it did not. I didn't review it because I don't like giving anything but 5 so I decided to read book one. Book one is great too. So I will say read them in order but I was disappointed with book 3.
This had a Little House feel to it. I was looking for an series geared toward an older audience so this didn't fit the bill. It did have some interesting Trail tidbits which I am always looking to read.
I really loved this story. As always, I'm amazed at the tenacity of the pioneers of this time period. This book is intermingled with many different characters and their own lives and how they relate to the main character.
