Kylie Lord has been in love with Trent Moss for years. They met in college and have been best friends ever since. Trent has only ever treated Kylie as a best friend/sister. Besides his foster brother, Dray, Kylie is the only real family Trent has. Trent is everything Kylie could ever want in a man.
Trent Moss, a kind, caring, loyal humanitarian with a tortured past that give him depth and understanding.

Kylie hasn’t dated much in the last few years. How can she when she is in love with someone else? It just wouldn’t be fair to anyone.
How do I explain how much in love I am with someone who doesn’t love me back?

Dray Savage has always gotten under Kylie’s skin. They are friends (or frienemies...), both connected by Trent. They are also always at each others throats. Thats just the type of relationship they have. Dray can be kind of a jerk... so you know I loved him right away!
Dray Savage, start college running back and now NFL star. Arrogant asshole would be an apt description.

When Dray gets a football injury and Trent can’t be there for him, he asks Kylie knowing she would do anything for him. Kylie is there for Dray when he needs her. But something happens between them. Something Kylie would never ever suspect. She is starting to feel something for Dray... lust?
Did I just mind-fuck my number one enemy who is currently and invalid? I have lost my ever loving mind.

The more time Kylie and Dray spend together, the more they actually start to get along. They get to know more about one another. Become friends. Real friends. But the sexual tension becomes more than they can take. Dray knows Kylie’s feelings for Trent. He has always known. But he wants Kylie, and he knows she wants him as well. He comes up with a proposition for her. Just sex. The best sex of her life. No strings.
“Let’s be each other’s just now

Dray and Kylie together... hot damn! Kylie keeps their 'relationship' to herself, not wanting anyone (especially her best friend Madison) to know. Madison only knows the Dray that was always bickering with Kylie, not the man she has grown to care for. After a few weeks together, things start getting weird. She is developing feelings for Dray that go beyond lust and friendship and she doesn’t know what to do with them.

 photo bbc29dbf-3dbc-47c4-afde-7cc44c593d2d_zpscab7ee5f.jpg

Then something unexpected happens. Trent comes home. Trent finally confesses to Kylie that he wants something more with her, beyond friendship. Will Kylie give Trent, the man she has loved for years a shot, or have the feelings she’s developed for Dray change everything?

Choosing between two guys is hard. Choosing between these two guys is near impossible! One is the guy you always thought was the love of your life... someone you’ve pined for for years. The other is someone you thought you hated, but have grown to care for. He’s also someone who’s given you the best sex of your life. Now, both guys want you. The problem isn’t just choosing... it’s what will happen to each when you choose. They are brothers and the only family either one has. If that isn’t complicated enough, there is something else that is added to the mix that makes it way more difficult. Will Kylie be able to choose and keep both men in her life, or will she lose two of the best friends she has?

I was so excited when I heard about this book! I loved the authors other two books (Ruining You and Ruining Me) If you are expecting this book to be like them, change your expectations. This is totally different from Nicole Reed’s other works, but I enjoyed it just as much! There is some definite angst. It’s funny, sweet, sexy, snarky, stressful... just an overall great read! I really liked Kylie, she wasn’t perfect, but still an awesome and relatable character. Trent was alright. He wasn’t my favorite character, but he was mostly likable. Now Dray... I LOVED Dray! Dray was all kinds of sexy, the hot jerk we all know and love who truly has a heart of gold. There were a few moments I was heart broken, it was a bit of a roller coaster of emotions. Overall, I was very happy with how it ended. I would really love another book in this series... maybe a Madisonbook :D I would recommend this one!

It’s not the circumstances we find ourselves in that define us, it’s how we overcome them.

Ending was so abrupt. After all the story we got what should of been the best part of the book cut off....

Good story with an even better love triangle, but the author left to much out. There was so much story detail throughout the book, to have that ending is very upsetting.

4 Cake-O-Licious stars!
description

What does one do on a Saturday night after you go to sleep? You wake up, eat cake and read this book straight through... well that is what I did!

The way Nicole Reed wrote this love triangle story was so engaging that I simply could not put it down until I finished. The characters were fun, funny and so likeable. This story had just the right amount of angst and the perfect amount of hot steaming love. I could feel the electricity between Kylie and Dray and it was exciting, but then Trent came back into the picture and Whoa.... whom to choose?

I was team Dray all of the way. And thanks to Kirsten P. for providing the spot-on visual of Dray and Trent: Looke Here... YUM!

I had a few little darn it moments in the last part of the book, but then I had my cake and I ate it too!

This book was a pleasant surprise! I loved each and every character, even though I wanted to punch a few of them on more than one occasion. The ending came as a little bit of a shock but I loved it!

As much as I adored these two men *cough*mostly Dray*cough* I was left with just one question at the end. Where can I find a BFF like Mads?

Once again Nicole Reed has blown me away. I feel like it has been an honour to watch her writing develop and grow from strength to strength. I was already a big fan of her Ruining series, so of course when I knew she was writing a new book I would be all over that. Turns out I was right to be so excited.. Cake was amazing.
"You need a good ole freaky sexing. Someone who doesn't care to bend you over, lick it wet, and whisper dirty nothings in your ear."

We all know that the Ruining series was so dark and gritty, emotional and painful but incredible all the same. What I didn't know though, was that Nicole had the ability to write something so different. Cake isn't a fluffy book by any means - I shed plenty of tears, felt my heart racing on more than one occasion BUT laughed out loud more times than I could care to remember. It had the perfect mix.

Nicole's writing throughout Cake was flawless. I was engaged, addicted and felt completely in love with the characters. This is a love triangle but personally I didn't struggle with it too much because I felt one of the guys was a clear winner from the off. It wasn't an easy ride, my god it was so painful at times, but I always had faith that they would get there. ♥
"Shh. Just let it happen. For so many years, we've drawn our battle lines and fought this war, but I'm waving the white flag."

Trent, Dray and Kylie.. what a mix. And two guys that couldn't be more different but at the same time, mean the entire world to each other. Kylie sure knew how to pick them that's for sure! Dray is the jock, the player, the asshole that hides his feelings in the form of hatred. Or Trent, the humanitarian, the guy Kylie has been in love with for as long as she can remember, the guy who sees her as just as a sister. How do you choose?!
"Can I marry Trent and fuck Dray because that sounds like the answer to my problems."

I have to mention one character quick. Aunt Leigh. I want an Aunt Leigh and I can bet every body in the world wishes they had one too. Her presence in the story was one of my favourite things. She wasn't just a secondary character to me, she was one of the mains and held just as much importance. I loved her.
"No matter what, I'm always going to be proud of you. It's not the circumstances we find ourselves in that define us, it's how we overcome them. I'm proud of you, baby girl. Forever and always."

I haven't really said too much about the story, but just know that it is SO GOOD. It will keep you interested, engaged and completely on your toes. I never knew what was around the corner and I love when that happens. Go Nicole!

5 +++++++++++ AMAZING STARS !!!!!!!

When Nicole asked me if I wanted an ARC copy of Cake I jumped on it. I knew it would be an amazing story and she did not disappoint me at all. If you have read Nicole’s First two books Ruining You and Ruining Me you are in for a real surprise because this one is NOTHING , I repeat NOTHING like those two books. This is A totally different kind of story BUT an AMAZING one for sure.

Everyone of the characters in this book I loved. Nicole truly knows how to get you to fall in love with her characters right from the start.

Best friends Kylie and Madison were amazing together, they are the idea team of Best friend/ Sister anyone could ever want. They stood by each other through all of it.

Kylie Lord has known Trent Moss and Dray Savage since college.

Trent, the smart and kind-hearted humanitarian has had her heart from the moment they met, but someone else always has his. She has lived the last seven years in Love with Trent and not telling him how she truly felt for him. Trent has Loved her as well but only as a sister figure not as girlfriend material. She is hoping that one day he will see her as more.

Can Kylie open her heart to someone else and move on from Trent?

“The greatest tragedy for me is that I allowed my heart to die with him that day, never realizing that life is too short and, at the same time, so long, to think your love is limited."

Dray is an arrogant professional football player who happens to be Trent’s best friend and has Loved Kylie for years, but has never acted on those feelings nor has he told her. Once Dray gets an injury while playing Football, It is Trent who convinces Kylie to go to him and make sure he is ok. As Kylie and Dray spend the next 2 weeks together, things change and things get really hot and heated between them.

“Shhh,” he whispers. “Just let it happen. For so many years, we’ve drawn our battle lines and fought this war, but I’m waving the white flag.”

When Trent gets Home and finally decides he wants more with Kylie, what will happen? Will she be there with open arms for him. Can she forget all that has happened with Dray and move on with Trent?

“You make it sound so easy to get what I always wanted.”
“What?” I ask, releasing the breath I’ve been holding.
“You. You bring me to my knees. Your smile, the insecure one you only give to me. The way you smell at the base of your neck that is purely your scent. Your taste, knowing I’ll be the last man to ever know how sweet you truly are.”

This story keeps you on your toes. It is about life and finding your place in it. It is funny, it is heart breaking, it holds surprise after surprise !!!!! It will be one hell of an emotional roller coaster of a ride, BUT it will all be worth it in the end.

My life isn’t picture perfect, but my Aunt once told me, “Bad decisions always make a good story.”

Nicole thank you once again for giving us an AMAZING story with Cake!!!! You simply know how to write my dear and I LOVE your writing style and your characters!!!!

I am hoping her next Book will be about Madi, Kylie’s best friend ( HINT, HINT) !!!!!!

Holy hell.. Ok, OK, I think I am good to talk about this now.

This one hell of a ride. Hillarious! I loved it, But woah.

You think you know what will happen then BAM! Nope you are wrong!

I was like WTH!! Noo! Seriously! But in the end it was happy, and worked out.

That is really all I can say without going into every single detail of the book, because I will.

All relationships should be built around an asshole...

If I were to break it down and outline the plot, Cake sounds like an amazing book. However, it lacked something in the execution. It was that something that kept a good book from being a great book. It had some amazing sexual tension, but it ended too soon, way too soon.

I love when a romantic relationship is built around an asshole.

Not asshole the orifice, but someone falling for an asshole. What I'm trying to say is that the sexual tension between Drey and Kylie was palpable, but I wish it had been drawn out a little longer. From that point on, I felt like the story was rushed. It was a good story, but way too much was skipped by and glossed over.

There was also some drama (aka stalker stuff) that was introduced to the plot; setting the stage for something big. The big never happened, and nothing really came of it. It had me looking on the ground wondering if I had dropped a chapter somewhere.

As much as I liked the twists and turns of the ending, overall it was a bit deflated. It fell flat. I think there's more to come. I hope so, because there is a great story in there. It just needs to be brought out. Overall, it was like getting a big piece of Cake and being told I couldn't eat it too. I want to eat cake dammit.

READ ON!

"Bad decisions always make a good story."

Kylie Lord is in love with Trent Moss and has been for the last seven years. But Trent has never given her any signs that he feels the same way - and Kylie has always kept quiet about her feelings. Trent is the greatest man she knows. He is selfless and has made a life for himself that is centered around making positive changes in the worst parts of the world. He is her perfect man. But he loves her like a sister.

Trent grew up without a family - all he had was the brother he found in the foster home he grew up in. Dray Savage is the hot professional football player that has always teased and been outright mean to Kylie. She has spent the last seven years putting up with him because he is everything to Trent. But when an accident on the field forces Kylie to care for Dray, suddenly the feelings she is experiencing are a far cry from hate. Can she have a physical relationship with Dray and still wait for Trent to return so she can lay out her heart? Kylie is hoping that she can live a little and have her cake and eat it too.

What can be said about the things that Nicole Reed can do with a good love triangle? I tend to stay away from the whole triangle thing because I can't stand to fall for the wrong guy. Kylie will eventually have to pick between the two men. And oh what a hard choice that is going to be...

Trent:

Dray:

I loved the humor in the dialogue along with some very touching moments. There were just so many times when I was laughing then seriously angry and then searching for tissue.

And oh Dray... He was an ass at times -

but then you just wanted him to grab hold of you and have his dirty way with you.

And then Trent returns after Kylie and Dray have discovered that there was far more to their relationship than just snarky comments. Between all the banging they became friends. But when Kylie has a chance at the love she has longed for ever since she could remember - will the new feelings she's discovered for Dray overpower them? And BAM we get the angst that drives us all nuts.

I had a moment during this book when I was stomping my feet and throwing a very unladylike fit.

But in the end I was still head over heels in love with this story. Nicole Reed delivered a great follow up novel after her release of the Ruining Series. She wrote a very sexy, funny and sweet romance that hit all the right spots.

Strong cast of characters to swoon over.....sighhhh, Dray!!! I just wanted to bite him!! Kylie is strong and determined along with her crazy best friend Madison, and lets not forget Trent.....hmmmmm!!!
Although this book is NOT a cliffhanger, I do hope that Nicole Reed continues on with maybe a story about Madison, I just loved her. "Hey Skittles, Have you tasted a rainbow today?"
And Aunt Leigh.....I love you, Forever & Always....

Holy crap I loved this book, firstly i would like to Thank my friends and Author of this amazing book for giving me the honor of reading and reviewing an ARC of CAKE. This is the third book of Nicole's that i have read and damm if i loved them all.

Nicole has a talent for sucking you into the book and making you not want to put it down until you have finished the last page and that is how i was with this one, i ended up finishing it at midnight after reading it all day. From the start it held me i loved all the characters especially Dray who i had a soft spot for..

Kylie has always been in love with Trent, but Trent only sees her as a sister, and she wishes one day he will relies that its her he wants. Trent is a humanitarian who is out of the country saving others as he always does as this is the type of person he is.Dray his fostor brother is the total opposite but still as HOT lol and him and Kylie have a very love hate relationship as in Dray loves to push Kylies buttons and in the process makes me laugh like a hyena, but there is a tender side to him to the side that has always loved Kylie. I also loved Aunt Leigh who was dying of cancer, the tale she told to Kylie stayed with me and left me so teary :(Then there is my girl Madison who i absolutely loved and had me in hysterics with her words LOL

fav Mad quote
stopping mid song , she turns and grins back at me " cmon, Kylie. His voice makes me want to take my panties off and beg for mercy" Looking over at me, she wiggles her eyebrows and cheekily continues, " with Lil Rip, of course. Youre not my type. You have to admit, his voice gets you wetter than a cucumber in a womans prison"

When Trent suddenly calls from South Africa after hearing that Dray was in a accident while playing football he asks Kylie to go and see him in the hospital and tell him what is happening, so of course she does. The way she gets past to actually be able to see him cus its family only is so damm funny it had me laughing for a while LOL. When she finally does go in things begin to change between them, and when she becomes his fulltime nurse for two weeks, it really begins to sizzle with them, but life isnt always that easy is it. What would happen if the one she has always wanted comes back?

This book had me laughing and crying and hot and also yelling in frustration LOL but i loved every second of this book. Nicole you have done it again and i know you will do it again and again. If you havent read any of Nicole's books i suggest you go and buy one straight away cus she is an amazing author and i know everytime i read her books i will love it. I cant wait to get this on paperback to add to my fav collection and then i can re read it all the time.

FAV QUOTES

I retreat both my hands staring at him as my heavy breathing betrays everything i have been feeling the last couple of minutes. Did i just mind fuck my number one enemy who is currently and invalid.

I would say Jesus is near and that you need to tuck you head between your legs and kiss your butt goodbye.

I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO EVERYONE.

I started reading this book thinking it was going to be a light read. It wasn't a life changing book, but it sure did get really dramatic in the end.

There were some interesting decisions that were made... I would say

It's really obvious from the blurb that Dray and Kylie are going to hook up. Of course, it starts out with it just being sex and then ir progresses to feelings.

Kylie has been in love with Trent for a super long time, but the involvement with Dray caused her to sway feelings.

When Trent came back from after a super long time, he confesses that he loves kylie. Now this is where everything gets crazy.

Now here's my thoughts on the book, warning there will be spoilers.

To establish if Kylie has feelings for Trent still, she has sex with him. Even though she did stop him because she didn't feel anything, emotion wise, they still had sex.

you could say that Kylie didn't cheat on Dray because they were never exclusive, but the feelings and emotions were there for Dray, so I think she totally cheated on him!!! Yes, good job Kylie, good job.

And then she gets pregnant.... and she does not know whose the daddy. AND THEN WE FIND OUT WHO THE DAD IS, WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF THAT?!?! I really did not expect that to happen (Trent is the dad, the person she slept with one time, ONE TIME, versus the person she slept with 12341234134 times)

AND THAT'S NOT ALL, Dray gets super upset with this news because they were all so sure it would be Dray's kid, so he went and slept with someone else!!!

----------------------------------------------------------
Ok I realize that I just spoiled probably the whole book, but I really needed to get that off my chest!!!!

The ending, as other people say, was kind of abrupt, only because we don't know all the details of what happened, but I didn't want to go down that road, so I was ok with the ending

“Cake” was absolutely amazing. Author Nicole Reed has completely blown me away with this book. I absolutely loved both “Ruining Me” and “Ruining You” and this book does not disappoint. I loved it! Kylie has been in love with Trent since she laid eyes on him in college. The only problem is that he has always looked at her as a friend and his foster brother Dray is there to torture her along the way. Madison is Kylie’s best friend who has witnessed all of what she feels is Kylie’s obsession with Trent. While Trent is off saving the world Dray is hurt and with no one to care for him it’s up to Kylie to support the brother of the man she loves. Let’s just say things become complicated in the best way possible. You will fall in love with all of the characters in the book especially Madison, Dray and even Aunt Leigh. They will definitely make you laugh! I laughed, cried and there even was a gasp. I highly recommend this book to anyone 18 and over looking for a funny, romantic read that capture your heart and touch your soul. There is no cliff hanger so you will be completely satisfied. I will definitely be reading “Cake” over and over.

Nicole Reed does it again….. I thought I knew what to expect given the Ruining Me and Ruining You books boy was I wrong.

I was prepared to be upset and to cry and go through tons of angst but I wasn’t expecting to be laughing for majority of this book… I seriously LOVED it from beginning to almost end. It was REAL. It was emotional and the sex was HAWT….. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book……

I just have one question can you send me Dray like for reals….. seriously I WANT HIM……

I liked the story..enjoyed the angst and friendships..but I felt rushed. I felt like the author (love her) took the story fast forward sometimes and just assumed that a sentence to catch up a month or 2 years would suffice. Especially the ending..I wanted more..I'm guessing there is going to be another book, because it wasn't finished? Right?

Nicole has done it again with me. There has never been a book that was created in her mind and put on paper that I didn’t love and wouldn’t rave about. Cake is much different than her Ruining Me and Ruining You series. She brings us a wonderful story about finding yourself in the world and realizing that what you want is not always what you need. It’s a beautiful story about growth and looking outside the box. More than a love story, Cake is a story about life and finding your place in it.

For Kylie she has always known that her heart always has and always will belong to her lifetime best friend Trent, even when that love isn’t returned to her. Waiting in the wings until Trent realizes that he and Kylie belong together she pushes away every other man that shows any interest in her wanting to keep her heart ready for the day Trent wakes up and realizes that he and Kylie are meant to be together.

Dray is living his life the way he wants it, free and happy. Professional football played by day and Casanova by night he doesn’t stay in relationship very long and he likes it that way. Having grown up as a foster child and never having any family to call his own he does what he wants, when he wants. After meeting Trent when they were young boys in living with the same foster family they became brothers and their bond is that of real blooded brothers. The one constant in his life is Trent and if that means putting up with his pesky pain in the ass best friend, Kylie, he will endure it for his brother.

Kylie and Drays relationship has always been anything but pleasant. Constantly grabbing for Trent’s attention their relationship has been heavy and full of tension. Teasing, spouting out sexual innuendos and treating Kylie nothing less than a dog Dray plays his game to try and annoy and piss off Kylie as much as he can. Kylie will always see Dray as the biggest pain in her curvy ass and want nothing but slow suffering pain to be brought upon him. She chooses to put up with Dray because of the love she has for Trent and being they are brothers she can’t have one without the other.

While Trent is our of the country trying to save the world one water hole at a time, Dray is injured during a football game with a concussion and having no other family Trent calls Kylie to run to his rescue and check up on him until Trent can get back into the country.

What happens when you have to make nice with your life long enemy and nurse him back to health because the love of your life asks you too? When feelings start to show and the truth comes out can Kylie escape the watchful eye and passionate charm that Dray holds deep inside him? Will Kylie find herself questioning her heart and who it truly belong too? And when one fateful night when everything changes and Kylies world is turned upside down can she finally give her heart to someone who will return her love or will she continue to wait in the wings for the man who has always held her heart?

“…..The greatest tragedy for me is that I allowed my heart to die with him that day, never realizing that life is too short and, at the same time, so long, to think your love is limited.”

I devoured Cake like it was a giant piece of German chocolate sitting in front of me calling me name and telling me to eat it – so that is exactly what I did. I loved every bit of Cake and am so glad I got a chance to read it.

Kylie was an easy character to fall in love with. Yes she had her flaws but don’t we all? Yes sometimes her choices she made, made me want to scream and cuss and smack her upside her head but she always followed her heart and always admitted when she messed up and wasn’t afraid to admit her feelings. Even when life decided to throw her a whole flipping lemon tree, she decided to brush herself off and open up a lemonade shop. She is strong and beautiful inside and out and always dreamed a bigger life for herself. She wears her heart on her sleeve and will go out of her way for the people she loves.

Looking down into his eyes, I think to myself, over and over, that this is Dray. Asshole Dray. Douchebag Dray. Holy-terror Dray. Bane-of-my-existence Dray. - Cake

Not knowing if she should follow her heart of her head she is stuck somewhere in the middle dying for something clear to pop out in front of her telling her which direction she should choose. With her feelings all over the grid she decides to hand everything over to life and sees what happens. Is it possible for her to love two people at the same time? Can Kylie have her cake and eat it too?

“You make it sound so easy to get what I always wanted.”
“What?” I ask, releasing the breath I’ve been holding.
“You. You bring me to my knees. Your smile, the insecure one you only give to me. The way you smell at the base of your neck that is purely your scent. Your taste, knowing I’ll be the last man to ever know how sweet you truly are.”

Okay so at first yes Dray was a douche bag, certified grade a asshat who is cocky and crude and arrogant – and I LOVED him. I could tell from the very beginning that his attitude towards Kylie was a front and his feelings for her ran deep. I was rooting for him from the beginning and wanted him to get his happily ever after. Dray was tired of living in the shadows and after coming to a difficult decision finally went after what he wanted and I was jumping for joy. Afraid of hurting his brother, Trent, he was cautious at first but when he finally decided to say screw it and go for it I found myself giving him a…..

I wasn’t too fond of Trent because of how he treated Kylie. Deep down I think he always knew her feelings for him and even though he loved her, he didn’t love her the way she needed to be loved. He used her, Madison’s words not mine (and yes I will get to that little firecracker next), and he never really showed any remorse for it either, never owned up to it. I wanted so badly to like him but I couldn’t. Almost like Kylie he wanted his cake and to eat it too but that wasn’t fair to Kylie. I know deep down inside he was a great person but I think his choices and actions towards Kylie were all sorts of messed up. He didn’t want her but he didn’t want anyone else to have her either. Trent had my blood boiling and I wanted someone to just…..

GIFSoup

Oh let me please talk about Dray again. Sweet baby Jesus he is HOTT! He had my blood pumping and body tingling from my head to my toes and everywhere in between. Not only was he sweet he could get dominate and downright dirty in such a good way.

“Have you ever been spanked, Kylie?”
“No, and I’ll think pass.”
“You may like it.” Then he finishes with, “You may not. Either way, I’m sure I will.”

(Oh yes I would love for him to spank me)

Moving on…..Madison! Oh everyone should have a Madison in their life. She is Kylie’s best friend and is full of fire and attitude. Just her words alone will bring a man to their knees and she doesn’t hold her tongue. She will tell you like it is and won’t loose a wink of sleep over it either. She is a fight first ask questions later type of girl and I loved her. Madison had my laughing so much throughout Cake I was seriously thinking of putting on an adult diaper just in case. All she wanted was for Kylie to be happy and she didn’t think either Dray or Trent were the one for her. She felt she deserved so much better than both of them but would stand by Kylie’s side with whatever she chose for herself. Madison is a very pretty girl with a very dirty mouth.

“Kylie, quit being a pussy prude. You need to start letting the beaver out to play more. If not, it’s going to dam your shit up. Then what?”

Can Trent, Dray, and Kylie figure out their place in life and what they want? Will Kylie follow her new path instead of following the one she has always thought she knew? Or will the bound between brothers leave Kylie giving her heart away without gaining the heart of a man’s in return?

I am going to mourn what I’ve lost, A little piece of my heart. – Cake

Nicole Reed wrote such a beautiful story of life, love, and figuring out your way. Not everything went the way I wanted it to but in the end the story made sense. Nicole will pull you into the story and have you wanting the characters to get the ending they deserve. Cake is such a beautifully written story that didn’t leave me hanging at the end but left me wanting more. 5 big huge cupcakes to Nicole for bringing us Cake! I devoured it and licked the plate clean afterwards.

4.5 stars. Wow, I did not expect that at all. I really liked it....

Kylie met Madison, Trent, and Dray her freshman year in college.
Madison was an absolute riot to read. She's uninhibited, smart, loyal, and really tells it like she sees it.
Trent is a humanitarian who travels the world. He's hardly ever home and is fiercely loyal to Kylie and Dray. Kylien has been in love with him since freshman year. 7 years now!
Dray is a pro NFL player, a ladies man, a dirty talking smart ass who is ALWAYS verbally sparing with Kylie and Madison. What's funny is Dray and Madison are so alike, but they cant stand each other. Kylie cant stand Dray, but she tolerates him because he means so much to Trent.
Dray and Trent consider themselves brothers. They were in the foster care system and ended up in the same home. The foster parents sucked, but they formed a bond for life. They are each others only "family". Kylie is an extension of that family, and Trent has referred to her as a little sister, which is not a good thing when you want to bang that person.
Kylie finds herself in a pickle when Dray is injured in a pre-season game. Trent begs her to go and find out Dray's condition in the hospital. Ever so loyal Kylie, never says no to Trent. The hospital scene is funny. She had to think on her feet you know.
Dray had a mild head injury and needs bed rest for 2 weeks. And he needs someone with him to monitor him. Kylie offers, which shocks her since she cant stand him. Or can she?? Dray stops being his typical asshole self, sexual tension and sparks are pinging off the walls!!! These two get it on and it's always smoking hot.Things are changing between them, even tho its a sex only arrangement. Trent comes home and it throws Kylie off kilter big time. Does she still feel the same about Trent? Does she now care about Dray? Does Dray even think of her like that? Oh boy.....things get tricky. Confessions are made, feelings are hurt, relationships torn apart and a big UH OH happens. I was crying like a little pansy! I did however like the ending. It was a HEA but not the typical one. I really liked the way Kylie held herself responsible, and realized that even though it was going to hurt, she had to be unselfish and do the right thing. The epi was cute and happy. It totally set me up and has me guessing about the next book, which is Nick's.
Madison- Kylie's bff was fantastic. Loved that crazy bitch. You will love her potty mouth and sassiness. She takes NO ONES shit.
Aunt Leigh- so insightful and if it wasn't for her, Kylie would've been an even bigger mess. I loved this part of the story.
Nick- celebrity and stalker of Madison(not in the dangerous creepy way)

4.5 to 5 stars

There is a reason that Nicole Reed is a New York Times best-selling author, and Cake just validated (once again) that she should remain on that coveted list. From beginning to end, Cake will have you hooked and delighted with laughter, sadness, joy, and tears; as Nicole Reed showcases her talent as a seasoned author. For the record, I am Team Dray all the way.

I loved EVERY character in this book....Kylie, Trent, Dray, Aunt Leigh, Madison, Nick, and Lil Rip. They are all stellar and with their own personalities and distinguishing marks that set them apart, yet all are compatible with each other. Kylie, Madison, Trent, and Dray became friends in college. They were always together and were very much like family. Trent and Dray were foster brothers and never had a family to love them, so Kylie became their family. Unfortunately, Kylie loved Trent as a future husband, but he only had eyes for her as a sister. Dray and Kylie were frienemies and got along for the benefit of Trent. When Kylie finds herself honoring Trent's wishes in caring for an injured Dray, things become complicated and the heart and mind are no longer in sync. Let the fun begin.

All of the characters have grown into successful careers - Kylie - fashion entrepreneur, Trent - humanitarian, and Dray - NFL player - and they never lost the closeness they have shared for more than seven years. These characters provide the angst, romance, and fun; while Aunt Leigh is the voice of wisdom, and Madison is the comic relief.

As much as Cake offers romance, it offers just as much steam, comedy, angst, and....tears. Cake touched on a hard subject for me during the time of my reading. It's strange how the timing of my reading of some books fits perfectly with what is happening in my life. I really felt Kylie and her pain for Aunt Leigh throughout Aunt Leigh's illness, and in some ways, Cake helped me with what was happening in my own life. I was so connected with Kylie that it was as though I had a friend who was going through the same thing as me and who understood. To have such a connection with a character that she can help me through a traumatic event.....well done, Nicole Reed. Well written.

If you are looking for a fun read with an emotional connection, then Cake is the book for you. The characters aren't perfect, the story line isn't an easy one, but Cake is a book that I can easily recommend.

If you aren’t afraid of some serious angst and can appreciate a back and forth love triangle then Cake is the book for you! With an intriguing title and endless possibilities of where the author might take me, I devoured this book in a few hours.

Best friends Kylie and Madison were hilarious with their banter and had me laughing out loud on multiple occasions. The writing is both sassy and emotional. Not only did it cover steamy romance and comedic moments but it tackled tougher subjects as well. Kylie’s aunt is fighting for her life and still able to give some of the best relationship advice I have heard.

It is absolutely impossible not to be sucked into the whirlwind romance of Kylie, Dray and Trent. An NFL player, a sweet humanitarian, and a southern fashionista will all have your stomach in knots and your emotions all over the place. Just when you think you have it figured out; another curve ball is thrown into the mix.

I so badly wanted to feel what Kylie felt towards Trent. Having already met Dray, there was little hope of jumping ship to join Team Trent. From the moment she is called to the hospital, I began hoping they would get on the same page. I won’t tell you which one she actually ends up with. Much like a rollercoaster, you will be on one heck of a thrill ride before you find out. Author Nicole Reed will keep you guessing and wanting more as you race to turn the pages.

I hope Nicole’s next book continues Madison’s story. I can’t help but wonder who she actually ended up with. Just when I thought I had it figured out it seemed shady all of a sudden. She had a triangle of her own that needs to be explored further in another companion novel!! (hint hint)

Received and ARC for an honest review
5 Stars

This book holds you captive from page one. It has you rooting for all the characters to obtain their happily ever after.

Kylie is madly in love with Trent. She has been for over seven years. He only sees her as a sister though. She is hoping and waiting one day he will love her. She decides that she can have fun while She waits for Trent to love her. Can she open her heart to another man? Or will her heart stay true to Trent?

Trent is always working out of the country trying to help others. He likes Kylie just not like she wants. He doesn't want to ruin their friendship, but what happens when he comes home and decides he wants more? Will Kylie welcome him with open arms?

Dray is a professional football player. He has always loved Kylie, but knows how she feels about Trent. His way of dealing with it is to be an ass. So when they decided to have a No strings attached sexually relationship, will he be able to let her? Or will he have been successful in making her fall in love with him?

This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride. I couldn't stop reading. I just wanted to get to the end and see what happened. Nicole Reed you have absolutely out done yourself again!!! I Lo-Lo-Love your books!!!!! Hoping for a story on Madison!!

This was a great read. Yes it was the infamous love triangle, yes they were best friends but more like brothers...some bits I agreed with some bits I didn't. But I loved the story, at the end of the day I felt that Trey had, had his chance but never took it (but why he never took it I did not see coming!!), Drake, I fell in love with him, I can totally see a guy doing what he did to cover up his true emotions and was glad that he finally let them out. I can't say too much as it will spoil it, but there was one bit that I felt was a bit far fetched, it was possible but the chances were soooo slim I just felt it mucked with the story too much. It did feel at times a little bit rushed and though maybe towards the end it could have been a bit more, but overall, a great read. I really liked it.

This was a great little book, the best bits were undoubtedly the relationship between the leading lady Kylie and her badass best friend Madision, this had some really great one liners in it.
Kylie has been in live with Trent for seven years but he has only returned brotherly love to her, his 'brother' (with one of the best book name ever) Dray Savage is a thorn in her side, so there lies the love triangle.
Only downside was Trent's sudden change of heart towards Kylie it just didn't seem genuine to me and I felt the epilogue just summed things up whereas I wanted a bit of solid story.
Overall a quirky humorous book and the final chapter Nicks POV definitely leaves it open for Nick and Madison !!

Amazing voice, great characters, but didn't stick the landing.

85% of this book was superb. Fun. Exactly what I wanted. The end was a little back and forth. And back and forth. Then back and forth again. But that didn't bother me all that much... I lika-the-drama. But then the book just ended. And then we get this epilogue that was like "oh yeah, then this and this and this happened. The End." WHAT?! Seeing it all come together IS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE BOOK. I'm really confused by this. The ONE thing I'd been dying to see how it all unfolded. Hear all those tender words and heartfelt emotions, and we were robbed of it. I'm stick scratching my head.

4.5 stars. This book is NOTHING like Nicole Reeds other books. (btw I enjoyed her other two books, this one is just different) I loved the charcters, the humor, the angst, the tears! And the spanking scene! LOL that was so random! I loved it! I found myself waiting for something epic to happen towards the end that would totally make me swoon. After everything that happened, I think the ending was fairly predictable and lacking a "moment." Hence my -.5 star. That being said this is an excellent read and I highly reccomend it *wink*

This book was a solid 3.....until I got to the end. I kept going back and forth between the last chapter and the epilogue on my kindle, trying to find that missing chapter. Almost started cussing amazon/kindle for not send me the whole book only to realize...nope, the author missed one of the most important part of book. After all that build up, I am left wanting.....

3.5 stars for Kylie & Dray. Trent can have two, lol.

Kylie Lord has known Trent Moss and Dray Savage forever. And she has been hopelessly in love with Trent for that exact amount of time. However, Dray, Trent's foster brother, is somewhat less pleasant to be around. Dray pisses Kylie off every time they are in the same room as one another, and she assumes that this will never change.
Trent is always off changing the world and 'good-doing', so Kylie treasures the time she gets to spend with him when he's home, despite the small matter of her unrequited love for him. Whilst he is away saving lives, Dray has a dangerous football injury and Trent calls upon Kylie to be there for the only family he has ever known.

"For so many years, we've drawn out battle lines and fought this war, but I'm waving the white flag."

Whilst Kylie is caring for Dray, things begin to change between them and feelings Kylie never imagined she'd feel for Dray begin to surface. And then Trent returns... Can Kylie have her cake and eat it or will she be able to choose between these two men she has known for so long?

"I want a good guy who wants to make the world a better place by side and a demon in the bedroom. Can I marry Trent and fuck Dray because that sounds like the answer to my problems."

This book is funny. It really did make me giggle. Nicole Reed introduces us to a great heroine, and her BFF, who both have a fantastic sense of humour. Some of the one liners were hilarious.

"You have to admit, his voice gets you wetter than a cucumber in a women's prison."

However, I didn't quite feel the emotional connection between these characters. We don't get to actually meet Trent until very late in the book, so I really felt little to no emotion for him at all.

If anything, I didn't like him. He'd treated Kylie like crap and just waltzed in and out of her life, expecting her to drop everything for him.

"I want a good guy who wants to make the world a better place by side and a demon in the bedroom. Can I marry Trent and fuck Dray because that sounds like the answer to my problems."

I really liked Dray. But with him, I felt that we didn't really get much insight into his and Kylie's turbulent relationship, so I didn't really associate him with being the asshole that Kylie makes him out to me. To me, he just seemed like a nice guy and Kylie seemed to making a mountain out of a molehill. He was just a bit crude. Therefore, I didn't really feel that change of heart and the excitement/tension that can be built when two characters go from hate to love.

"I am thinking we could come up with, Fifty Shades of Red. You know, see how many shades of scarlet we can turn that tight round ass of yours. My palm is already itching just thinking about it. We could start tonight."

One other thing that I felt quite indifferent about was the Nick Andrews storyline... I just didn't really see the point of it. There was no real climax or outcome and it just interrupted the Dray/Kylie/Trent roll.

And then there was the ending. Whaaat?! I felt like the author kind of got bored and just went 'Aaah, that'll do. I'll just an an epilogue and be done.' No no no. That's not okay. I want a resolution in the actual book. An epilogue is an additional extra to sweeten the happy ending, not a hint at the happy ending you didn't actually get to read about. Slightly annoyed.

"Life is too short and, at the same time, so long, to think your love is limited."

Don't get me wrong, the book was nice. There was a bit of humour, a bit of angst, a juicy little love triangle, some yummy, steamy sex scenes and a pretty likeable heroine. And lots of people have loved it, so perhaps it's just me being a Debbie Downer. I can totally see where the author was headed with this plot line, but I just don't feel like it was executed brilliantly. This was the first Nicole Reed book I have read and apparently it is absolutely nothing like her others, so I'm quite intrigued to read another style from her.

I was given an ARC for an honest review.......

LESBIAHONEST here.. When NICOLE REED offers an ARC to you, you quietly accept while really on the otherside of the monitor you are SCREAMING JUMPING UP AND DOWN AND BITING AT THE BIT TO GET IT IN YOUR HANDS ALL OVER THAT BOOK..... So, here it is ... MY HONEST REVIEW:

SO, Cake... Who doesn't love cake? It's sweet and yummy and we ALL want some as soon as we see, smell, or think of it..
WELLLLLL..... Cake in this case comes in the form of two delicious men.. Trent and Dray.. CAKE YUMMINESS AT IT'S BEST.

So, Kylie has loved "him" for the past 7 years.. She can't let another man in her life for this reason.. The "other" man is "his" best friend and constantly teases and taunts her. (Ok, from outside the box - we all know what a "mean" boy means- HE LOVES YOU)

"Cake #1" does alot of humanitarian work and travels the world in doing so- so he is constantly in and out of her life.. "Cake #2" - lives near Kylie and they have a very intertwined life so she has alot of encounters with his Cocky self. After having to help out Cake #2 - they finally realize all that hatred is built up sexual tension and decide to start a strictly physical relationship- after all .. what can it hurt. No feelings. No emotion. No one gets hurt.

Well.. after a while that physical comes with emotion whether you want it to or not. When Cake #1 storms back in Kylie's life- she has to question EVERYTHING. Was her love for him "true Love" or just in love with the idea of him? Could she really love Cake #2 and just not want to admit it? And given they are all best friends and practically family, it makes for a huge mess and lots of decisions that can change Kylie's life as well as both her Cupcakes;)

There is all kinds of "stuff" that happens that I can not tell but believe me - I HAVE LOTS OF WORDS ABOUT IT...

Trent- PERFECT in every way.. Loving, handsome, Do-gooder, loves Kylie but never wants to lose their friendship even though he knows she loves him
Dray- PAIN IN THE ACE... Hot head, Domineering, over bearing, cocky, a tad arrogant and SMOKIN HOT.. I was in L.O.V.E. from the start. <-- I wanted a peice of the cake for myself... FANNING AS I AM TYPING... WOW.

If I could rate this higher than 5 - I WOULD. The story is flawless.. It had me all over the place with emotions.. Laughing, crying, furious, about to puke, biting my nails, SOBBING MY FACE OFF, dripping with sweat, fanning and swooning over hottness, and in total love with every character.. (well all but that one obnoxious Lil Rip that I wanted to throat punch twice..)

Nicole did NOT disappoint.. Cake was worth the wait. I LOVED her ruining series but she outdid herself with Cake.

Is it possible to have a cake hangover? <--- WELL THIS GIRL is sugared up and still coming back down off my high. Will Kylie have her cake and eat it too? Read it to find out but I can tell you anything is possible ...Especially with CAKE

**OH AND ONE MORE NOTE-- MADISON.. NEEDS A BOOK.. AND LIL RIP NEEDS TO DISAPPEAR.. SO, LET'S MAKE THAT HAPPEN ASAP..MMMKAY??

Some highlighted quotes that MUST be re-quoted::

"Bless her heart.. Everyone knows that bless her heart in the south means that Stupid B*tch" <-----HAHHAHHAHHAH

" This isn't a kiss.. It's a brand.. It's ownership.. It's a future .. It's a promise"

" This is love. Everlasting true love in it's highest form. I know when he says forever, he means it."

"It's not the circumstances we find ourselves in that define us, it's how we overcome them."
