Captured and mutated, his memories of his past wiped away, Subject Number One clings only to the scent of his fated mate, caught only in whiffs in the facility where he and his wolf brothers are held prisoner. If he could only reach her, touch her, he could complete the mating bond and escape. But who would mate with a monster?
Wracked with guilt, Dr. Michelle Dimaano swallows her loathing for her job and her employers and the terrible things they do in the facility where she works. She's free to leave, but at the cost of her memory. The only thing she lives for is the overwhelming curiosity she holds towards the magnetic wolfman, Subject Number One. However, when she gets a little too close to him, he hurts her. Can she overcome her fear and choose a life of danger and her fated werewolf mate, or will she go back to the world of men and leave her monstrous lover behind?

This is the second book in this series. I enjoyed it just as much as the first book. This one is about Subject Number One. That's what they call him. He knew number four had a plan to escape the research lab that they have been imprisoned at. Number One would be glad if Four succeeded. He even gave Four his ration of meat to help give Four strength. Number One was a patient wolfman and smart but he wouldn't try to escape because his life mate was somewhere at this facility. He'd never seen her but as long as he could smell her he was not voluntarily leaving. The lab techs drug the beasts before carrying them off for experimentation. When One awakens after his return he can smell his mate all over himself. It keeps him sane.
Dr.Michelle Dimaano, animal psychologist, works at a research lab, at which the head of animal reserch considers her a hindrance to his research, and takes very little of what she suggests into consideration. In other words her job leaves her feeling frustrated and useless. She also has great empathy for the wolfman captives because she knows they are men as well as beasts. They can, but won't speak. She is a virgin but has lustful dreams, and feels an attachment to Number One.
Well there you go. That's all I'm divulging. I certainly don't want to give away any more of the plot than that. This all happens at the beginning of the book. This story is very exciting in many different respects.
Again, WARNING!!! Adults only! There are things that happen in this story that will offend some readers.BEWARE!!! Be forewarned.
Great following of the first story. I like the way number One kind of submit to his mate to proove he is not dangerous to her, and he loves her. Michelle is a little stupid not to understand the people she works for are bad people !
and now I'd like to read about number Five. He seems to be really savage !
For the monster erotica genre- 5 star. This book/series really surprised me. The monster erotica genre is full of poorly written and poorly edited shorts that are purely porn without plot. Now this likely won't be winning a literary award but it is a cut above most monster erotica stories out there. I would like to see some more world building but the fact there is some was refreshing. This is not for everyone. If you enjoy monster taboo stories this series delivers hot monster sex, werewolf/mate romance and an actual plot.
Just as gleefully indulgent as the first but now we see the emergence of plot and pathos. It'll be interesting to see where the author takes the series if she continues it. Will One and Four free the rest of the pack? Will Bonnie and Michelle bond over tea and crumpets over their mutually bizarre sexual deviance? The world is waiting for these answers.
