Nestled deep in the woods, Shadow Falls is a secret camp where teens with supernatural powers learn to harness their abilities and live in the normal world. But Shadow Falls is facing a problem that could finally expose them to the rest of the world. Humans are showing up dead, and rogue vampires may be to blame.
Camp resident Della Tsang, who’s still coming into her own vampire powers, is assigned to help find those responsible. If she succeeds, maybe she’ll even land her dream job: working for the F.R.U., the enforcers of the supernatural world. But when she sees that her new partner is a hunky shapeshifter, things get complicated. Steve, too gorgeous to be trusted and capable of seeing through her tough-as-nails exterior, knows just how to get under her skin. And only hours into the mission, Della realizes rogue vampires aren’t the only threat she’s facing. If she’s ever going to complete her assignment, she’ll need his help…but learning to trust him will be her hardest challenge yet.

Hunter skriver just nu. Längtar!
Holy shit ! I love this novella so freaking much i can't even express myself right now. I actually wasn't very fond of Della in the Shadow Falls books, but now that i read her extra story, i LOVE her! I definitely understand why she is the way she is now. And i can't believe it ended with a teaser for book 4 ! Are they freaking kidding me? Don't they know that it pains enough,, and it feels like torture waiting for the 4th book to come out, WITHOUT any teasers. C.C Hunter thank you for ruining my life and rest, i don't think i will be able to sleep any time soon.
The Shadow Falls series has become one of my obsessions, I just can't get enough of it, I'm always waiting for news of whats to come and any chance I get to talk about it or recommend it I will take it! Saved at Sunrise is a novella from the series, it takes place time wise shortly after book 4 and this time is told from Della's point of view. Della has always been one of my favourite characters, I like her feisty toughness and rough exterior, but you just know there is more to her than that and I looked forward to getting to know her more. You certainly get to see her develop as a character and see another side of her which is refreshing and also makes you feel like you know her better, she becomes more relate-able. Della is being sent on a mission to scout out a group of rogue Vampires, but she's not alone, Steve, the good looking Shapeshifter is sent to accompany her. I wasn't sure how the two would work together but they fit well and have good chemistry. IN fact I really like Steve, he has a kind of sarcastic, charming humour to him but also a really sensitive caring side. *melt* Although this is very short there is a lot packed in and it leaves you desperately wanting more, which I am delighted to know will be coming. Not only is Chosen at Nightfall (book 5) coming out later this month but Della is set to have her own series carrying on and I couldn't be more excited! C.C. Hunter is certainly on my list of favourites and I can't wait for more!
The hardest thing for me is reading this, falling in love with Steve and knowing that in the end, in her spin-off, Della is with Chase. Not that it's bad because in the end I preferred Chase. And I love Chase very much. But I still fell in love with Steve in the previous four books. Just ... okay I don't know why I'm reviewing a book I read many years ago, nostalgia I guess lol
I just love Della's side stories. She's my favorite of Kylie's best friends and I would read a full length novel if Hunter decided to write it. The romance between her and Steve is so cute. I'm hoping they finally get together in the last book of the series.
I really enjoyed this fast-paced novella, I liked reading more about Della, reading about her feelings towards her family, towards Lee. I love Steve he is so yummy and caring and sweet, not sure if that’s the kind of guy Della goes after even though it probably should be. I like how she’s becoming part of the FRU team, something that she’s always wanted and I liked that they mention Kylie in the story. I’ll be curious to see if there’s any backlash from them infiltrating the rogue gang, I am also interested in reading more about Della
So this is a really great side story of Della and Steve doing a mission for the FRU. Very action packed, sexy, and sweet story of their adventure. Really liked it!
This novella immediately follows ‘Turned at Dark’ in the Almost Midnight collection. It tracks Vampire Della and her potential love interest--a shapeshifter named Steve--as they perform a recon mission for the supernatural world’s version of the FBI. Tasked with infiltrating a Vampire gang and determining if they are using murder as an initiation rite, the pair has a chance to prove themselves. Della resents having Steve essentially named her protector for the duration of the assignment, and is further agitated by the fact that her family has little to do with her and her ex-boyfriend is now engaged. Her many angst-ridden distractions may prove her undoing.
While Della isn’t much more likeable than she was in her origin story (still rash, judgmental, and headstrong to the point of stupid), there was at least some fleshing out to entice more reader investment in her character. Steve, however, makes the story worth reading. Not only is he easier to connect with, but he’s somehow able to be patient with Della’s many faults and wounded self-absorption. It’s just a pity we never experience any telling from his point of view—as Della can be a tiringly acrid head for readers to be stuck in.
The prose had good flow, though more brief in physical descriptions than this reader would prefer. And while there was a lot more worldbuilding than in ‘Turned at Dark,’ there still seemed to be a certain depth lacking. (Although this may not be representative at all of the full-length novels in the series.) For readers who have already started into the Shadow Falls series and particularly enjoy Della as a character, this sort of mini-quest side story is likely to appeal.
Content Note: The sensuality level runs closer to a New Adult than YA, and includes a topless in-bed makeout session (sans actual relationship or commitment.)
There are only two books left in the series, which I am in complete denial about. (I got the final book for review and somehow I missed the book before that, so there will be some excellent binge reading in the not-too-distant future.)
This is a novella told from Della's perspective. She's one of my favorite characters from the series, so it was nice to get to spend the time with her. :)
When Della agrees to do a sort of trial run for F.R.U., she didn't bargain on getting a partner and especially not the partner she got. Steve seems nice enough but Della doesn't want to get too close to anyone. And, of course, things don't work out the way she planned and they get close. *ahem*
This is such a ridiculously fun story, and I'll admit it: I hope that there's a spinoff centered around Della and her adventures as part of F.R.U. (And more Steve.)
I loved Saved at Sunrise, even if it was a bit too short. It was nonetheless totally sweet and I loved the characters as well as the atmosphere. Della is one of my favorite characters and Steve was totally swoon-worthy. As always with C.C. Hunter it was also very funny as Della is witty and sarcastic. I can't wait for the next book to be released :)
I love getting these little glances into the secondary characters world (well that's what happened in this novellas case). I really like Della as a character but I also feel sorry for her. I hate that she feels like she can't be loved because of what she is.... It's very heartbreaking. But hopefully soon that will change.
Hoped it had more, you never get to really know Della. This sort of gives you a glimpse, but why did it feel like I had already read it, does Della tell Kyle about it in the book, it felt like nothing new.
Gute Exkursion in Dellas Geschichte.
This book focuses on Della Tsang and Steve (shapeshifter) and takes place between the end of Whispers at Moonrise (Book #04) and Chosen at Nightfall (Book #05). I enjoyed reading more about Della in this book and found it a quick and enjoyable book. I look forward to reading more books in the Shadow Falls world in the future.
We get to experience Della's point of view and her struggles to accept Steve as a romantic partner during a side mission for Burnett.
But at the end, nothing is resolved. There's no character development. It adds nothing to the series or the depth of the characters. It's not even that exciting of a plot.
