The second book in the Red Gambit Series. Starting on the 13th August 1945, 'Breakthrough' follows the soldiers, sailors, and airmen of both sides in the struggle for supremacy in Europe. From Irish waters to the freezing Barents Sea, a hotel in Spain to a school house in Germany, a gutter fight in Eggenthal to true horror on the banks of the Veerse River, and from Mongolia to Nova Scotia, and into the Parliament of the United Kingdom, 'Breakthrough' will continue the journey through the events that became known as World War Three.

Downloaded.these novels some while ago as part of my Kindle Unlimited subscription & I always promised to treat myself to them and I'm glad I did - there are plotlines I missed the first time around! Altogether a thrilling rollercoaster of a read - looking forward to the rest of the series!

Fantastic alternative history
Once again a great page turner book that mixes up political intrigue with epic battle scenes. The reader is brought into the trench or into the room with vivid descriptions. Jumping from side to side, the author draws you in to keep reading wondering what will happen next.

The story Continues
Breakthrough, the second book in the Red Gambit series continues right where opening moves left off. The story flows smoothly from SHAFE and Marshall Zukov's headquarters down to the action in the turrets of the tanks and foxhole of the troops.
The characters are human and not stereotypical cardboard cut-outs. All in all an excellent continuation of the series.

Once you get past the inconsistent grammatical work, it doesn't take long to be hooked into a fast-paced read that is impressively accurate with the author's knowledge of locations, weapons, tactics and mindsets of the particulars.
I did not see the conclusion of chapter two, which makes reading the third chapter more intriguing. For those who enjoy alternate history, Mr. Gee's series is a must-add to your library.

After reading the intro the book picked up from there and run full force. So much so that I sarted started stalemate about 30 sec after fishing up Breakthrough.
