On the road to Fargo, North Dakota, Matt Cahill is trapped in a hellacious blizzard on a frozen, traffic-choked interstate. He’s stalked by an escaped murderer and the guards who were transporting him—all of them seemingly possessed by a mutant virus that spreads quickly among the others trapped in their cars, turning everyone into crazed zombies. Matt struggles with a small band of survivors to find the source of the horrific plague before it claims them all. The odds are against any of them surviving the night…and that includes Mr. Dark.

Like a a few of the Dead Man books this starts well (brilliantly in fact) and then gets a bit weaker. I'm coming to the conclusion that this happens with these books because, Matt Cahill, the protagonist, is actually really dull. Still, the first third is incredibly good, testament to Smith's talent, and if it does go downhill after that it's still a fun read.
Matt Cahill finds himself caught in a blizzard and he hates it. Considering his history, caught in an avalanche and dead for three months, only to come back to life, understandable. He's also being hunted by a convicted murderer and the guards accompanying him, all amid a group of stunned motorists stranded in the sudden blizzard. Everyone is stumbling around zombie-like, smiles on their faces, and saying, "I need you!"
Whatever is going on has Mr. Dark worried. he makes a brief appearance and Matt easily sees a worried look on his face. And anything that worried Mr. Dark must be okay, despite what it seemed to be doing to the people. It was left up to Matt to discover what it was.

Didn't enjoy this chapter. I know that they have to try new things and change it up but I was really disappointed in this one. I love zombie books, a lot. Having said that. Don't try to add zombies to a non-zombie book. It just doesn't work. Hope #17 is better.
Kinda messy, and the hero seems to fall down a lot. And get people killed by sneezing. After a while, you really expect him not to succeed at anything except staying alive.
