Will admit I bought this book for the cover! Enjoyed this authors other stories, but when I saw she based this on Edgar Allen Poe’s short story “The Masque of the Red Death”, I had to read it! How can someone take a creepy Poe story and turn it into an erotic romance? Well, dear reader, Lexi Post NAILED IT!

Enter, if you dare, a haunted abbey filled with 73 doomed souls. But this is not just any abbey…this is a pleasure palace, where each room is devoted to various erotic fantasies just waiting to be fulfilled.

Rena Mills has been spurned by her fiancé and vows to show him she can be successful without his help. She purchases an abandoned abbey with a history of being haunted in hopes of turning it into a profitable bed and breakfast. Synn McCalister has been cursed to be the Ghost Keeper of the abbey. When he sees Rena, he seizes the chance to free the souls trapped within if he can get her to agree to complete the Masque…she must obtain pleasure in each of the rooms. Is Rena the one that will complete this erotic journey and free them, or will Synn and his companions be trapped for eternity within the walls of the abbey.

I dare you to read this and discover which room of the Masque offers you the most pleasure.

I did not want this story to end and read several passages over and over! Highly recommend!

Masque is a fascinating and sexy story! It’s based on Poe’s “The Masque of the Red Death,” and takes place in current-day Nova Scotia, Canada. Rena is determined to reopen the abandoned, historic abbey as a haunted bed-and-breakfast. And wow, it’s haunted by a plethora of interesting ghosts! When Rena meets Synn, the caretaker, she’s speechless with lust. He’s a total hunk, but she doesn’t realize he’s not quite human. When he introduces her to the seven rooms, each with their own kinky sexual entertainment, she realizes he’s the living fantasy from all her sexy dreams and desires. The story is beautifully written, a long tale that I had the pleasure of reading for a week, which meant a weeks’-worth of sexy dreams for me! It includes amazingly hot sex scenes that literally had me squirming and breathing heavy! Ms. Post sets the scene so well, I felt I lived in the abbey with the characters. The dialogue is engaging, and the story plot is cleverly written. If you’re a literary fan, you’ll love this one, and if you’re a fan of adventurous, salacious sex scenes, you’ve got to read it. Ms. Post is a hot, new talent, and I’m looking forward to her next fabulous release.

I haven't been reading a lot of paranormal reads of late, but this one was rather interesting! I loved the erotic aspect of it, and watching Synn and Rena fall for each other. I also enjoyed watching the romance between Synn's descendant and Rena's best friend! It was a quick and engaging read that I found immensely enjoyable!

Lexi Post’s debut novel, Masque, has it all--romance, mystery, ghosts, a really bad bad guy and hot sex and I think I’m in love…with Synn MacAllister, the hero, who is more tortured and guilt-ridden (and handsome) than any man has a right to be.
In 1861, the Red Death has struck Nova Scotia. Prince Prospero has taken his most favored friends and brought them to Ashton Abbey to protect them. Synn, intending to convince the Prince to help everyone, dons the mask of a victim of the Red Death, never realizing the consequences of his actions: the 74 inhabitants of Ashton Abbey succumb to the pestilence; however, they remain trapped in the Abbey as ghosts and all this time, Synn’s been trying to find an answer to his dilemma…how to help his friends pass over into the great beyond. Nothing he has tried has worked, but there is always hope. If he could find a living woman to complete the pleasure rooms of the Masque…
Hope comes in the form of Rena Mills, a woman with the goal of turning the abandoned Abbey into a haunted bed-and-breakfast to secure her financial future and prove to everyone, including herself, that she can accomplish this goal. I admire her strength of character and her ambition. More so, I admire her willingness to explore the seven room of pleasure with Synn. And what rooms they are! Post has really let her imagination fly and what a pleasure it was (pun intended) to join Synn and Rena on their journey of discovery, a discovery not only of the flesh, but of love as well.
Post has skillfully taken Poe’s “Masque of the Red Death”, twisted it, turned it and molded it into a modern day romance that has something for everyone. This story had me sighing and blushing (and yes, giggling, too) and I look forward to seeing what classic Post will choose next.

Masque by Lexi Post is based on Edgar Allen Poe’s ‘The Masque of the Red Death’. Masque takes place in modern day Nova Scotia, Canada. I loved the premise of the story and the story overall. I enjoyed the paranormal elements to the story, as well.

Synn MacAllistair was trapped in time believing he brought the red death to the doorstep of the historical building that Rena is now trying to open a bed and breakfast in. Synn is driven to help the souls that were lost believing he doomed them. Synn is a very conflicted character. He has one goal and does not want anything to get in the way of that goal. Rena seems to be significant to Synn being able to set the ghosts free.

I found it unrealistic how Rena and Valerie had such a casual attitude toward the ghosts that appeared all over the property. I would have expected either Valerie of Rena to become upset some way. I also found it very unbelievable that it did not occur to anyone that Synn might be something paranormal. I also think Eric, the evil ghost, added little the overall story, nor was he a focus of the story. He was more of a pain.

What did I love? The chemistry between Synn and Rena! I loved the sex scenes between them. They were very hot and steamy. This is a true love story between them.

The happy ending in this story was absolutely perfect and completely unexpected. In fact, this story has many plot twists that kept me interested throughout. Overall, this was a great story.

MASQUE by Lexi Post is an erotic romance between Rena Mills, who plans to turn an abandoned abbey into a haunted Bed-and-breakfast, and Synn MacAllistar, a distinguished self-proclaimed Ghost Keeper. Born in 1828, Synn is determined to free the souls of the resident spirits that died from the Red Death, and each night, he introduces Rena to an evening of erotic pleasure. Along the way, Rena finds herself falling in love with a ghost. The sexual contents in MASQUE are consensual with boundaries, and the storyline is filled with mystery, ghosts, including a sinister one lurking in the darkness. Lexi Post has taken Edgar Allen Poe’s “Masque of the Red Death” and turned it into a spectacular. modern day romance. Whoo! What a hot, sensual ghost story!

A Classic Paranormal💚💙

The story was thrilling and flowed rapidly with so many facets and characters. Time just stopped in the "abbey" all those years ago. So many ghosts stuck here from the red death and a good bit of evil.
Synn was neither alive or a ghost and it was up to him to enable their crossing. Rena, very much alive, was his perfect mate and the one who could help him. Nothing worth having is ever easy and this will keep your emotions changing as fast as you can turn the pages.
A super HOT read of consent and boundaries, but along the way, realization that love, along with trust, really can conquer. A very enlightening and Happy ending for Synn and Rena.

Super sexy

This book was very hot but engaging. The premise of a woman buying an abbey/pleasure palace that comes with 73 ghosts, a cursed man, and a mysterious priest was interesting and I found that I immediately cared about the characters. I was surprised at the explanation for how Synn came to be but also had some open questions at the end. Overall, it was very enjoyable and if you like extra steamy scenes that delve into a little m/f/f, plus some mystery, you’ll like this book.

This was definitely a hot read. Rena had her plans for the Abbey, a haunted bed and breakfast. She did not expect to actually meet and spend time with the ghosts that resided within. Her attraction to Synn brought her into a new world of sensuality and healing. There were dangers that could pull them apart and came close a couple times. The ending was not quite what I expected, but I loved it. I forgot a couple times that some of the characters were ghosts, I enjoyed them so much.

This is my unsolicited review.

I picked up Masque at a book con where I finally met Lexi Post. She warned me there were triggers in the book and she was right. Fortunately, not much gets to me. :)
The FMC is looking to start over and get out from under an overbearing ex. So she buys a haunted castle.
I loved the way the living interacted with the not living. The curse was awesome.
The only thing is, I wish the conflict in the story was a little longer with more detail.
But all-in-all a GREAT BOOK

Wow.... this book made me blush and I wasn't sure that was possible! LOL If explicit sex scenes are not your scene, I would not recommend this book for you. If you're good with that then you'll love the ghosts! I enjoyed the book, blushing aside 😉

Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Masque of the Red Death,” this novel, set in modern times, has historical and paranormal elements. The main character, Synn MacAllistair, began his life in the 1800’s. He is trapped in time, believing he doomed 73 souls by bringing the red death to their doorstep, killing them all. Synn’s character is driven to help the lost souls who are trapped in the Abbey crossover.

Synn believes Rena, the new owner of the Abbey, is the key to setting the ghosts free. He is determined to take Rena though all the pleasure rooms in the Abbey; each room more intense and sensual than the last, awakening Rena’s sexual desires. As they journey through the rooms, their feelings for each other deepen and they find sex is not the only thing that binds them together.

Although there are very intense and sexual scenes between the main characters (and among many of the ghosts and supporting characters), this is truly a love story at heart. It will definitely keep your interest with the many obstacles both characters face, not to mention a creepy ghost trying to thwart Synn’s plans. This story is very involved, it has many characters and plot twists that all wrap up neatly by the end. If you enjoy hot steamy sex scenes and a happily ever after, this book is for you!

He sees her. He feels her-all over. Can he have her forever? Synn MacAllistair has found the woman of his dreams after only one hundred and fifty years.
Rena Mills flees her engagement and is determined to make a life of her own. She finds the beautiful Ashton Abbey in the chills of Nova Scotia, which is the perfect place for her bed and breakfast complete with a haunting of ghosts.
Rena is perfect for Synn’s mission. Through each step of the Pleasure Rooms, he can fulfill the ecstasy of a promise to the seventy plus ghosts he’s been trapped with in the Abbey.
Synn is her rebound pleasure, yet he shows her more intimacy than she knew existed in the mortal world.
If they admit feelings of love, will they be doomed when Synn finishes his promise to the other ghost? Will this promise ruin Rena’s B&B plans? Will it ruin them?
Masque is riddled with passionate sensuality and a feisty ending leaving everyone breathless, fulfilled, and a little less scared of live-in ghosts.

This is an erotic romance that is quite a page turner! Determined to prove herself, Rena Mills wants to turn an abandoned abbey into a bed and breakfast. Except the abbey isn't exactly abandoned; it's full of ghosts that want to move on and it's Synn MacAllistair's job to help them. Caught between worlds, Synn must guide Rena through a series of pleasure rooms before time runs out.
Based on Edgar Allen Poe's The Masque of the Red Path, Masque is a sensual mix of intrigue, romance and the supernatural. Best of all, there's some unusual twists. Ms. Post has done a wonderful job of penning a hauntingly erotic tale.

What if the guy who killed everyone off in Poe's Masque of the Red Death really wasn't a bad guy-he's just really really misunderstood. As the ghosts of all whom he is responsible for their death still haunt the castle, Synn knows that if he can convince one woman to experience the pleasure rooms of Ashton Abbey, it may help the ghosts cross over to the other side. Rena Mills has had it with the loser boyfriend who insisted that her desires were too depraved for words. Hoping to turn Ashton into a profitable b&b complete with ghosts-she doesn't know what Synn wants her to do just that she would do just about anything for him.

Surprisingly not bad. Few eyerolls.

Fantastic book! If you don't read this, you're totally missing out! Just be warned,it has alot of hot scenes in it, but they are tastefully done. I read this book when it was first released and it remains one of my all time favorites. It's got everything I look for in a great PNR. Rena and Synn heat up the pages with each trip to the different pleasure rooms. I love the ghosts, well all but one, and the story gets better with every turn of the page. Lexi did an amazing job recreating Poe's original tale to a hot, steamy, modern day love story I can't get enough of.

Masque is an interesting story which has a cursed abbey, a bunch of friendly ghosts, one creepy ass one, and one who isn't really a ghost but is "trapped". In order to set them free Rena must complete the pleasure rooms. I loved this story, Synn and Rena really heat up the pages. It is engaging, has mystery, romance, and salvation. Lexi Post does a wonderful job with this remake of a classic Poe Tale, I couldn't put it down once I started reading it.

* I won a copy of this book, the review is my honest opinion.

Steaming HOT erotic romance with a neat plot. Hard to believe you can pull a romance out of Edgar Allen Poe's classic, "The Masque of the Red Death" and yet talented author Lexi Post manages to do just that! Her hero, Synn is delectable--makes me want to go find an old mansion and convert it to a B&B myself, LOL! If you like your romances with great plots, characterization and a mansion-full of steamy hot sex...than this is your book!

Loved "Masque"!
