The end was too rushed, unrealistic and unnecessary.
I liked the story a lot up until after the sex scene.
Interesting characters. The plot was charecter driven, with lots of dialogue between the MC's about heavy stuff: the war, PTSD, family, friends, back (if possible) to normal. So interesting. But just before the sex we met the . It didn't feel realistic. I think it would have worked better with some kind of epilogue or something.
I'm going to try a full novel by this author. We'll see.
Undercover Operations by Merline Lovelace. 3 stars.
It was ok. I love short stories, but this time I wish it would have been a full novel. Because the MC´s were so interesting. The FMC was strong, capable and serious. I liked her from the start. The MMC was fun, deceptive (but in a good way), a bit crazy and loyal.
The plot was… well, was hardly there and nothing new. But (again) it could have been good. But it was too rushed and we couldn´t enjoy the development of their relationship. I wanted more.
And… I liked the end. That twist was fun.

Undercover Operations por Merline Lovelace. 3 estrellas.
The dream marine por Rachel Lee. 2.5 estrellas.
Review for The Dream Marine by Rachel Lee. For a short story it really was emotionally powerful. The characters were amazing and of course I Love Conard City! I loved it!
This was a set of 3 novellas all involving military and their loves. The first one made a giant leap in the plot from building to closure without the development between. The second was OK. The third was good, but had such gushing language that I was constantly distanced and/or skimming.
