A poorly written contemporary masquerading as wallpaper historical. Not my first Rodale, but definitely the last.

A quick and charming read. I really enjoyed the relationship between the hero and heroine. They had such great chemistry. My only issue is that the story felt a bit rushed. I would have liked the author to explore the characters and their relationship a bit more.

I feel like I've read this before, although I don't think I have. That probably just says how generic the story is, which isn't inherently a bad thing - it's just a kind of sweet, decent little story for when you don't want to think too hard.

Penis-led romance
I really used to love Maya's books, but I really am growing dissatisfied with this type of "penis led" romance. The first thing the love interest thinks about is putting his penis in her. Really? Not good enough for me. Sorry!

Would have got another star, but there were too many mistakes - spelling, grammar, French, historical, and modern American expressions. A pity because I liked the concept.

Delightfully naughty novella. 4 1/2 star read!
SEDUCING THE SINGLE LADY by Maya Rodale is everything that I would expect from Maya. True romance, emotion, tension, and of course, characters that make you laugh, lament, and cheer when it all comes together. Damien is set upon convincing Susannah that not only would he make a worthy husband but that she will not be giving up her freedom if she consents to marry him. When she declares a wish to experience the thrills a young man is allowed, Damien makes her wish come true by dressing her in britches and taking her out for the day. Maya leads us through this romantic experience of Damien winning and seducing Susannah through inspiration garnered by the songs of Beyoncé. Very clever!
I do wish that SEDUCING THE SINGLE LADY had been longer. I would like to have known a bit more of both Damien's and Susannah's past as it led up to the moment when they came face to face. We are given hints but I think their story would've been even more enjoyable if it had been longer. Perhaps her day of scandalous behavior would have been even more naughty.
I highly recommend SEDUCING THE SINGLE LADY by Maya Rodale to anyone who is already a fan of this wonderful author and to anyone who has never read her clever story-telling ability. This is a wonderful, fast-paced, and naughty historical novella that will leave you with a smile and a sigh. You might end up humming a few songs by Beyoncé as well. Oh, there are a few missing words and errors in the manuscript but hey, it's a self-pub. I just ignored them with a shrug, and kept reading. This story shouldn't be missed.

This is yet another charming and very funny novella by Maya Rodale, one of my auto-read authors. I first read this book last year but recently also read the new revised edition.
I must first add a disclaimer that I am completely unfamiliar with pop star Beyoncé, her career, or her music, which inspired Rodale to write this novella, so all allusions are lost on me; I’m sure it would be lots of fun for Beyoncé fans and all chapter titles are song titles.
Personally, I didn’t find anything lacking in the original version as I love Rodale’s writing voice and the original (and funny) stories she weaves. In fact, I was surprised to hear she revised it. To me, it just means even more fun writing to enjoy.
In the revised version, there is a prologue which gives some very amusing background into Susannah and Damien’s childhoods, their impressions of each other growing up, and their experiences while apart that lead them to where they are now: Damien, long thought dead, shows up at a ball seeking to find Susannah and finally marry her. For her part, Susannah is having the time of her life enjoying her freedom and her wealth, after years under the thumb of parents and obnoxious relations.

Cute little story that is inspired by the songs of Beyonce. I really liked the heroine (Susannah) especially when I read about the hardships she had dealt with in her childhood. The hero got a bit on my nerves with his arrogance at times, but he redeemed himself pretty well by the end. The courtship section was really cute especially when Susannah dresses up as a boy and engages in a flirtation with a sweet barmaid. Definitely worth my time!

Sweet, sassy and romantic. This novella reminded me of why I fell in love with Ms. Rodale's writing and it's renewed my desire to read her books. I was in a bit of a reading funk and I just couldn't get into a a Tale of Two Lovers. But this novella was light and fun and definitely has drawn me back in. I also enjoyed how it was a bit unconventional which made it a refreshing change from the norm. It was very fun how each chapter was "inspired" by a modern Beyonce song.

Ok, even though its a good book, i felt really bad for the main character to have had so many crappy years, i mean, yeah, its cool to get a great life with the love of your life but did she really have to be abused by her family, and ignored by her fiance for nine years before this. I mean does she really have to pay so much hardship for such a wonderful life later.
Still its a good book to enjoy.

Novellas are always hard to fall head over heels for due to their length. Just when I'm starting to feel it, the story is over. I did enjoy this one a lot though. It was a fun concept that was executed well. A fun, quick read that has me wanting to check out more by this author now, so mission accomplished there.

I love the concept of this book! Ms. Rodale took the songs from a Beyonce album and wrote a book with each song being a chapter. Chapters matched up with song titles and the whole thing flowed very well.
