September 7, 2013I wrote this book, the third and final book that features Isabel, Sophie and now, Lily.
I'm going to miss these girls! I had so much fun writing these books and my wish is that kids will have fun reading them, hearing about the girls' dilemmas around friendships and sweet treats, neither of which you can have too many of, in my opinion.

I loved this book quick read, but still really good. I love how it keeps you hooked through the whole story! I really recommend this book.

October 17, 2013This book is about Lilly trying to be a musician and baker at the same time. She later gets into fights with her friends Abigail and Zola about her band " The Dots ".
Isabel , Sophie's friend asks her to help her plan a surprise party for Sophie. She gets really caught up in trying to fit in with trying to fit in with her book club The Baking Bookworms. When she finds out that the book club is going to be just about books and baking ( which she is bad at baking ). When she tells The New Pirates her band rivals that she will participate in the auditions for the spring fling she gets herself into a big dilemma. I give this book five stars because I feel it is my type of book. This book was a real page turner and hope there will be another book following this one along with the other ones! I happy to say that I loved it! This is a great book about a girl trying to fit in with two ver different groups. Thank you for reading!

July 23, 2014I love Lisa Schroeder's young adult novels and with this book have discovered (not surprisingly!) her middle grade voice is every bit as winsome and entertaining. Will definitely be reading the other books in the series.

I started reading this series years ago, and when I found out I never ended up reading the last book, I decided it was about time I got to it. And let me tell you, I am so glad I did.
Lily is a people pleasing person who bites off way more than she can chew in an effort to make everybody happy, and honestly, that’s probably why I like her so much. After all, I can relate to her. This is a story about making sure you know what your priorities are, being honest with the people you care about, and not making promises you can’t keep. I think this story teaches some very good lessons, and if you just want to read a lighthearted book, I think you’ll really enjoy this book.
Also, I just wanted to mention that near the end of the book, the characters talk a little bit about the book they were reading for the club and allow me to fangirl for a moment because it’s ELLA ENCHANTED BY GAIL CARSON LEVINE. That is my favorite book in the whole world and I absolutely lost my mind when I read that part. Bless the author for included that in there, because I was beyond happy that I was reading a book where the characters in the book knew of and loved my favorite book.
Okay, my fangirl moment is done. Back to the actual review.

I think this book is very good becuase in the book it shows perserverance and determination. It shows perseverance because Lily takes on way too much than she can handle when she joins a mother-daughter book club called "Baking Bookworms". In this club you read books and every time you meet someone brings dessert. Meanwhile she also joins an all girl band and she's the lead singer. The bands goal was to play at the schools annual Spring Fling. That way her band gets noticed. While she's trying to juggle all that her, friend Isabel wants her to help plan a Sweet Thirteen bash for their friend Sophie. Isabel is expecting Lily to making a showstopping dessert for the party. This book also shows determainition because she's determined to doing both, making a showstopping dessert for the party and trying to commit full time to her band.

I really enjoyed Frosting and Friendship by Lisa Schroeder. I thought this book was made for girls that are in 4th - 9th grade that like realistic fiction. However, if you are going to read this book, I would recommend reading the first two books, It's Raining Cupcakes and Sprinkles and Secrets, is this series. This book can get a little slow/boring at times, but the climax and exciting parts are worth it. It can take a little time, because of the slow parts, but the ending is amazing, so if you want to find out what the ending is, go read it.

I loved this book. The theme of finding something you're good at and pursuing it wholeheartedly is relatable at any age. I highly recommend this for any young girl.

In the final book in the trilogy of sweet treats, this time told from Sophies camp friend, Lily's perspective, we see how she takes on too much and struggles to cope.
From baking and hosting Sophie's birthday party to helping her band win and to play at their spring fling dance as well as become good enough at baking to fit in with their baking book club.
All about joining and trying new things as Lily tries to feel a proper part of the group and for in properly as each girl had a passion for either books or baking, but Lily feels a tag along friend as her baking isn't good at all! Final fun and joy in the final of the trilogy!

The title of this book sounded interesting to me--unfortunately, I spent the first half of the book thinking it was a pretty silly story. (Note: I am much older than the intended age group.) By the end though, I did realize that the book had some pretty good messages about friendship and life:
*You will never be everything to everybody. You cannot please everyone all of the time.
*You need to prioritize the extracurriculars that are important to you.
*You need to speak up for yourself (politely) when others are piling too much on you
*It's okay to dream, but you also need to put the hard work into preparing for your dream.

Frosting and Friendship was a great book! It was all about finding yourself and choosing the path you want to be on. It was all about a girl named Lily who struggled with baking and friendship. She always knew that she belonged with a singing career but in order to gain trust in Sophie (a girl from camp), she had to step out of her comfort zone a little.
I loved the book. Personally, I loved how it was all about food and music. Those two things are my life and I thought it was cool how it incorporated both. Lisa Schroeder is an amazing author and I believe her series is very successful and a huge hit in my book. It would be good for girls’ ages 8-13. That is the range that this book represents.
The book included drama as well as everyday life problems. It was realistic and that is why I loved it. The book doesn’t make people jealous or exclude kids because they are not perfect. It shows that everyone gets stressed out over friends, school, skills, etc. No one has it all.
If I were to rate this book, I would give it 5 stars. I think that any book that represents real life should be awarded. It is easier to make things up then figure out regular problems that still can be special enough to make a book out of. Lily is a character to love which gives the book extra points. I knew I would love her because she knows what is right but still lives an ordinary life.
Basically, Frosting and Friendship was the best! Between characters, conflicts, themes, main points, and the skills in it, the book was outstanding. I hope that people can love this book as much as I do and appreciate it in general. It’s awesome and so is Lily!

Lily, is she a singer, baker, or lier? She goes through life biting off more than she can chew. At one point she is baking a burnt cake, and the other she is writing songs. She was welcomed into a book club that bakes every time they meet up. All her friends think Lily can bake, but can she? Every time she tries it is ruined or burnt. Trying to be a better baker is distracting her from other things in life. She has a band to focus on too. It comes to the point where she has to plan a surprise birthday party for her friend in the book club. She promised her band mates they would play at the party, but did she hire a different band and still keep her promise to her bandmates? Push comes to shove and she finally tells everybody the truth. Does everybody believe her, or does she regret telling them the truth?

Frosting and Friendship by Lisa Schroeder is a great book to read because it teaches you a great lesson that everybody isn't always perfect. Lily can't bake and she doesn't tell her book club "The baking book worms"because, she thinks they will make fun of her. Something else that she is great at is her band. Lily and her band try to come up with a song for the spring fling dance. In the middle of the practice Lily gets a call from one of her friends saying that it was going to be her best friend Sophie's 13 birthday bash and Lily had to bake a treat for the party. Lily freaked out because she didn't know what she was going to bake. But, with a little help of Chef Smiley's baking channel Lily was able to make cake pops for the party. I would recommend this book to people who are best friends.

Tween girls should enjoy this fluffy novel about girls in a mother-daughter book club. The lead character, Lily, is a 12-year old who doesn't have "the baking gene," although she's a talented musician who's formed her own all-girl band. Her main worries in life seem to be whether she can make home-made goodies that are up-to-par for the monthly book club meetings, and whether her band will be picked to perform at the school's annual spring dance. Definitely not an angst-filled teen book, this novel is a tale of the ins-and-outs of tween girl friendship, and of course, cupcakes. Several easy recipes included

I am aware of the other books in this series, but I haven't read them. I was able to follow this story just fine anyway. Great story about a student having to learn that she can't do or be everything to all people. There were no grown-ups to swoop in and save the day for her either - she made the "mess" (which is age-appropriate for the target audience) and had to figure her own way out of it. Looking forward to recommending this one to students. [I received an electronic review copy of this book from the publisher]

It is such fun to revisit old friends in books. This is the third book by Lisa Schroeder, each with a different friend as the main character. Lily can't bake but when her friend, Sophie, starts a book club and invites Lily to join, Lily says yes. But, Lily is the singer for a band that her other friends have started. Lily tries to keep both sets of friends happy: the bakers and the band while she helps organizer a surprise birthday party for Sophie. Lots of baking mishaps and friendship woes, but the story works out perfectly in the end!

I liked this book because all of the characters are hardworking. If they need to accomplish something they fight until they get it. They also keep their promises. The main characters can also be funny. In this story there is lots of challenges for the main character. For instance, she has to bake for the book club that they started but she can't. Whatever she makes comes out nasty. She deals with this problem until she is able to solve it. I recommend this book to people who like the Dork Diaries series.

Great book it is about lily who tries to be a baker because her friends don't know she's not the best baker in the world and when she tries to make an amazing dessert for her friends surprise birthday party when everything goes from bad to worse when lily and her band (the dots) find out that another band is already playing. My favorite recipe from this book would have to be the strawberry cake.
