Jason Broaduc lives his life as part of a brotherhood. A High School football star and Marine Corps war veteran decorated for heroism, he has returned to life in Paris, Tennessee working as a State Trooper. When all of this is taken away in an instant, how will he react? What will he have to do to survive in world where no group will accept him? The answer may lie in a different kind of brotherhood…and a lifestyle he would never have imagined.
Great parallel story to so many clubs. Great read and seems to be well researched on how easy it is to get sideways in search of something more within yourself.
Not a very deep book. Besides the main character there’s little to no development. Even with our “hero” we know little more than he’s a marine, suffering after the war and is pretty savvy.
Still, if you’re looking for a short, 200page, quick read this will suffice to pass the time.
Contains strong profanity, however, the author, a friend of mine, responded, "I tried to create authenticity to the story." Yep, the story is about some rough one-percenters (the bad-boy bikers) and they are not famous for their flowery language. Jason, an ex-marine recently home from the middle east war, bought a motorcycle and mingled with a group of bikers, looking for adventure. The book is an easy read and written to keep the reader on the edge of his/her seat. I left the story eager for the next book.
An Amazon Review rated 4 out of 5 stars by Baloney Balls: I picked up this book on my kindle at the suggestion of a co-worker. I was somewhat skeptical because this was the first book he had mentioned so I didnt know what his taste in reading material was. I was pleasently surprised to see that I could "take a peek inside" for the first few chapters and I am glad I could because I was hooked.
You can instantly relate to the main character Jason. He is a young Marine just back from Iraq and starting out on a career with the highway patrol when he is essentially screwed over by his boss. Who hasnt had that happen before whether it be in your first job or your current career?
I was able to make it through the entire book in about 3.5 hours of total reading time. It is very wel written and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Would have given this 5 stars but I know some people avoid looking at the 5 and 1 star reviews to get a better overall review of the products. I cant wait for more from this author and hope we get to see a sequel to find out where Jason takes the Iron Kingz.
I met the author Troy Mason at a book signing and although I have never read anything by him before, I bought this book because there seemed to be a real down to earth authenticity about him and he actually IS a former Marine who rides a motorcycle (just like his character Jason)! It was a fairly engaging story and quick read...short sentences and short chapters that read more like a journal or diary than a novel...but he gets to the point, tells his story and no extra unnecessary filler. It tells the story about how a good law abiding citizen and decorated war hero can turn to the dark side when life drops him on his ass. My only criticism is the lack of real emotional connection to the characters and very minimal romance (the few times women were talked about or he had sex, it was very generic and passionless). If you want to read a book about club life without the romance and glamour of most female targeted novels, then this is the one for you!
I was pulled in with the first chapter! Troy Mason puts you in the moment and keeps you there through each chapter. His style and expression makes each character come to life with extraordinary detail. Waiting impatiently on the sequel and movie rights !
